I have to say ... I really liked the fencing and wish they hadn't taken it down. 😕
Hey you missed Estates 😅
@@soncea2030 I know! I need to do another one. Pretty sure they were still building in there pretty heavily when I filmed for this and it wasn’t conducive to driving through (and that was definitely true for the new townhouse section on the river, The Shores, which I also didn’t get a chance to feature). I will be sure to do another one at some point and add it in!
Thank you
You're welcome!
These door to door peeps r not out for you. They dont have battery systems. They dont need them they still to pricy. These folks are clueless and dont care, but the power company can still shut someones power off at their home if thsy have solar, like hey sorry we know you sold us xyz smpunt of power but we dont have any right now we wre dping rolling black outs. Now had you done solar with battery system in place yoo could care less if power company doing rolling blackouts. You got solar with batteries with enough backup power to sustain your home a few days. Thats how you want it. Even if that means start out with just a portion and grow your system over time.
ever had a roofer install asphalt/fiberglass shingles. Where is the installer when you need a warranty?
Go Tesla solar 25 year warranty!
I am an Electrician. I install my own system at 6kw at 1.10$ per watt. I am currently installing at 255 million dollar electrical install non-solar, I am 65 and know two or three things. I have produced 19 megawatt = about 2000$ in 1.9 years. This ia about 3 year payoff. I use about 700$ a month in Texas, about 12kw per hour. I would need about 48kw to either bank to the grid or batteries. This would be a large area of panels. At 6kw I am only getting about 20-27KW on average at 5 hours per day. The panels used to cost 7.5$ per watt, when I bought them they were 1$ per watt and now they are .50Cents a watt. Your costs are 40% for panels and equipment, 20% for mounting hardware and 40% for labor and profit by installer. If you do it yourself you can really get it done cheaper. Most of the installation groups set you up for 20 year contract. I am set for 3-5 year payoff. With a 20 year contract it really makes you think hard WHY? The cost of power is set to have a crisis in the USA in 2 years. If you consume 100 to 300$ a month then it would be time to get it installed at the 3-5 year price point. If you want to get there real answer I will give it to you. linkedin.com/in/david-barnaby-56a4648, linkedin.com/in/oak-service-group-8883b627b
Your footprint of pollution is not reduced , it's simply transferred to china. It's like all these EV cars which are charged with electricity made from burning coal and turf which was dug out of the ground in Columbia, Poland and Ukraine and transferred across the sea on a ship which burns crude oil by the barrel. Oh and your local green party advocate wears a green shirt.
When the company goes out of business. They probably damage the roof installing the panels and charge 10,000 to do so.
50 days warranty more likely.
Let's Shakespear it.
Terrible advice. Stick to real estate.
Thank you for handling an important topic. It is important to find out the truth - and preferably before investing. A real estate agent's perspective is a significant expertise in this problem where people are cheated out of grief. One small tip for composition when filming: It is a visual mistake to aim the camera so that the face of the person being filmed comes rather in the middle of the image area, which is quite background dominant. The face of the person to be filmed should be higher in the image area and probably the shirt would be visible more at the bottom. If the videographer feels that by doing this the shirt of the person being filmed becomes too visible, the solution is to zoom a little closer, as long as the hair comes reasonably close to the top edge of the picture. It's good that the lateral alignment is slightly focused on the shelf in the background, because the fact that the person being filmed is not completely in the center laterally - makes the picture more interesting. Now the person being filmed could sit a little further from the shelf - maybe only 3 cm from his current place.
I live in Fresno CA. My electric bill is $200 a month. $.048kw
In some parts of the country they make sense, but not in hurricane prone areas. Insurance companies are forcing us to replace our roofs every 15 years on the Gulf Coast. Solar panels really add costs to roof repair and replacement. Insurance companies are greatly raising the rates for homes with solar panels because they act like large sails in hurricane force winds. It is absolutely true that some insurance companies will not insure your home if they have solar panels. I bought a home a year ago, and did not look at homes with solar panels on the roof.
Great place to go

I've never been a fan of huge garages that stick out in front of a house, so this looks really nice to me! The rear garage reminds me of the alley garage I've seen in the Midwest.
I really don’t like houses that are all garage, so this definitely helps with that.
Great video, love all the info! 💕
Carbon footprint? Carbon makes up 0.04% of our atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is essential to life on the planet. One volcanic eruption produces more CO2 than all of the cars on the planet for a year. If everyone reduced their carbon footprint to zero, the planet is still going to produce CO2. More CO2 means more plants grow. This is by intelligent design.
Great info!
Hello Buddy , the same problem we have in Poland !!!!Nobody is going to tell true, and real problem!
I've had solar panels on my home for 6 years. I'm still grid-tied, meaning that at night and during winter days when there isn't as much sun, I'm using the grid. The last time I made a direct payment to the grid was March of 2018. My panels produce excess energy in the spring and summer months. That energy is sent back to the grid and they have to credit my account. I always have a credit balance on my grid account. During fall and winter, I use some, never all of that credit and, beginning in March of every year, that credit builds back up. Best decision I ever made. Grid electricity costs can rise. The sun rises. The sun doesn't demand money from me to shine down upon my panels.
I would like to know the true cost after these panels are financed over several years. Maybe someone can share their payment plan over 20-25 years.
If you want to truly reduce your carbon footprint, do NOT have any children.
You will be paying for it for the next 20 years--so where is the savings? and if you need to change your roof, you have to call the solar panel installers to dismantle it. Then the roofer for the roof. Then call the solar panel company to reinstall it. ROOFERS DO NOT DEAL WITH SOLAR PANELS!!! You are talking about mega bucks. And if you do not notify your homeowner's insurance they can drop you. Many did have their policy dropped due to not notifying them. AND if you decide to sell your home--good luck with that. If the panels are not paid off, it's going to be a lot more difficult.
Don’t buy anything from a door to door salesman.
I've been posting this story for a while, now. Hey Elon, you REALLY want to fix something? YOUR company Tesla Solar cheated and continues to screw my retired parents. They got YOUR panels but their power bill never went down. When they asked what was going on, my parents found YOUR company was taking the majority of the power collected for themselves. YOUR company responded by saying, "You never told us not to." My parents can't even remove YOUR panels from their house. Even though MY FAMILY hasn't been able to use them for over 5 years. Not to mention their power bill that never went down PLUS the ungodly amount to YOUR company for panels that YOUR company won't allow my family to use or remove. YOU need to fix this. Until YOUR company stops hurting my family, I'm going to continue to call you out. The ball's in YOUR court, Mr. Used to be Richest Man. Prove yourself worthy!
I'm in Texas and selling my power back and in the peek I'm getting about $50 per month back on my bill. I talked to my neighbors and they get about the same.
Best thing I ever did to my house in Colorado. Installed 9165 watt system in 2011. Went from having avg $150/month electricity bill to $8/month. Energy costs a lot more than it did 2011 and yet I still just pay $8/mo. (for some federal tax)
My local utility has approved two separate rate increases. 1 in 2024 and 1 in 2026 that are expected to add 10% to electrical rates. I am planning on getting solar this year. I estimate that my first year with solar I will spend about $200 more than if I just remained paying my utility company. Year 2 I should break even, Year 3 and beyond I should be saving money. In addition, it will help me budget to have a consistent loan payment instead of the ups and downs of the electric bill. (lowest months are around $90, highest months are close to $300)
I live in western Pennsylvania and there are absolutely NO homes with solar panels that I know of. I am having trouble believing their sales pitch. My average electric bill is around $80-$85 a month. My home is very well insulated, 2100 square feet and 2 stories. It has no drafts of any kind that I could find last winter. The salespeople are figuring 19 panels with a cost of $25,000 (approx) before the Federal Tax Credit. The sales person assumed I am in the 25% tax bracket but in reality I am in the 12% bracket (I am a retired tax accountant). They are talking a $180 payment for 30 years(!!!) to replace a $80-$85 electric bill. That means I will be over 100 years old when the loan is paid off and I realize the actual savings.
I live in Western PA also and its not worth all the hassle to get solar panels. It will not save much money at all. We don't get a lot of sun either, especially in the winter. You would be much better off investing your money over 30 years. $25,000 at 8% over 30 years and you would have $251,566.42. I know there are a lot of variables but just showing an example. Also solar panels degrade over time and will not produce as much energy year after year.
@@markwitt811 I am 72 years old. In 30 years I will not have anything except the urn holding my ashes on some relative's mantle (or, as what happened to my mother - be accidentally thrown into some cat's litter box).
Here in Calgary, solar panels cost more per watt than in the US! Also our fees and taxes added to our utility bill gobbles up any savings! Also no mention is ever made about hail damage to the panels, or the costs added when replacing shingles!
About two years ago I talked to Enmax (Calgary’s local electric utility) about installing panels on my south facing roof and selling back to the grid when I wasn’t using all the power created with the panels. At the time there was a federal and provincial government subsidy program to offset a portion of the cost. When I ran the economics for the quote I was given it turned out that even with the subsidy, the panels and install would take 35 years to pay me back my capital investment. The life of the panels was 25 years and I was told they would degrade about 2% per year. Needless to say, I declined when they called me back. A big part of the problem was the fact that all the surcharges we get charged in Calgary and Alberta don’t go away with the solar install. The fees we get charged to deliver electric to our homes also gets charged to use the Enmax lines to deliver electricity back to the grid. All the other riders still apply as well, including taxes. I’m locked in long term at 5 cents per KWh so my cost of electricity is a small fraction of my overall monthly bill. I also ran my numbers assuming that I was getting credit for the electricity that I delivered back to the grid at the same rate that I was paying. From what I understand that isn’t necessarily the case. In most jurisdictions the rate you get paid for the solar power delivered back to the grid is less than the rate you pay them. That would hurt the economics even more. Our non-regulated provincial rate just jumped to something like 32.5 cents per KWh in Calgary, which is extreme but not enough to make the cost of install economic. Maybe one day the various levels of government will offer a high enough subsidy to get the economics down to a 10-15 year payout, but I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for that. I would suggest the government at least give a very generous tax credit to incentivize people, but again, holding your breath waiting for it wouldn’t be smart.
You’re misinformed. I’m in Alberta and have solar panels. Those taxes and fees you’re talking about are also largely based on your power consumption. There’s maybe $30 of those fees that’s fixed and the rest is based on the kWh’s you draw from the grid. Alberta’s Solar club let’s you sell your electricity in the summer for $0.30 and buy it in the winter for $0.125 so you build up a large credit in the sunny months that more than pays for the fees that are left over on your bill and even covers most if not all of your winter power bills. You can also sell your carbon credits which will net another $300-$500 per year. The payback period on my panels is 6 years, after that it’s just free electricity and actually making money off them as power prices continue to climb.
@@kurtisf3366 I’m not misinformed, I just ran the numbers given to me by the consulting firm that Enmax put in contact with me, following the process they gave me. If it works for you that’s great, all the power to you (pun intended).
Until solar panels are installed with a battery backup system, people will suffer power outages, brownouts and losses with a household that doesn't have such a system to 9rotect themselves.
Interesting , Thank You
First of all? Comparing peoples results who invested in solar ten year ago with todays solar industry? Is an invalid metric. The cost of solar has dropped by 80% over that time period. While the performance has almost doubled. The amount of energy that a residence or business can generate today for the cost is a lot different scenario. A decade ago if you had 250W panels your were paying $500+ each for them. Today you can get 450w panels by the pallet for $225 each. The cost of everything else has come down as the industry has scaled up as well. Including energy storage systems.
