Trailer disconnected / connected error F150 wiring FIXED
Просмотров 17 тыс.Год назад
I've had a trailer error popping up on my dashboard for the past few months. Most videos talk about the outside trailer connector, which I doubt has solved your problem. I finally decided to fix it for good and work on the real issue - water ingress at the trailer connectors under the vehicle. Problem solved. Thie applies to amy vehicle. Nitto Exo Grappler vs Ridge Grappler F150

Whether you drive a Jeep or a Tundra, Tacoma Ram, Silverado or F-series F150/F250/F350 - you need a good set of tires that not only look good, but perform the best. Nitto Ridge Grapplers are a common choice, but it is the Exo Grapplers that actually have the M S rating.

Fastest way to clear snow?? with a Leaf Blower of course!!
Просмотров 462 года назад
In Utah we call it the greatest Snow on Earth. Our snow is light and fluffy, and it is cold, so it doesn't melt when it hits the ground. This is the perfect recipe for removing snow with your leaf blower! As you can see on my sidewalk, I have a super nice neighbor who came by with his snow thrower, but it didn't removal the snow quite as well!
Put on tire chains or cables!
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.2 года назад
I've had tire chains in my garage in Utah for years without action. Then we go to Seattle and they get used every time time it snows! I guess without the snow plows on the roads, we need to chain up! These are the Super V tire cables from Amazon / Fred Meyer / Walmart. Be certain to get the right size tire chains for your size of tires! Check the side of your tire for the size (for example 245/...

With so many 4x4 options, what should you use and when should you use it?

Honda GX160 GX220 clone throttle linkage without governor
Never drove a 4x4 truck. Should I only switch modes when in neutral or park? Don't switch "on the fly," while driving?
Going into 4h can be done on "the fly" (within reasonable speed); 4L engage while in "neutral" and truck is stationary.
@terrywilliams9924 ok thank you
Ford 4H is rated for Hwy speeds; dealership confirmed. It’s all that is offered in the XLT models and I’ve been using it on snowy and icy roads for more than 10 years at HWY speeds without issue.
My samsung smart tv doesn't doesn't use the xfinity box so how can I change the channels ??
This was incredibly painful to watch. I would have appreciated watching your conclusions and hearing concise solutions, rather than watching each trouble shooting step. The viewers have no idea if your steps to fix the issue will work until the final few seconds of the video.
When you are greasing a connector you should do the exact opposite of what Bart has done. You want to grease the intercourse of the pin and the socket. As most males know putting the grease around the socket doesn’t work. Get a small wooden dowel cover it with grease and work to get some on all the pins. Now plug and unplug multiple times. Until satisfaction is achieved. (And no I do not see any sexual overtones in my comment )
🤣🤣🤣 everything you touch might be the problem.
I tried several times to connect my Samsung remote to my new XG1v4 box; following the video. Nothing! When the pairing numbers showed on the screen, nothing happened 👹
interesting thank you
been driving in 4a this whole time getting like 15 miles a gallon
Thank you, I did this and it worked good. One question though, how did you bend it so perfectly? Mine looks like a monkey did it but shit works
my doesn’t give the option to enable. How do you fix that?
So, where is the comparison to the ridge grappler? It's in the title, but I never heard a mention of them.
I can't figure out how to get to the Comcast Saved, Recordings to watch DVR. Unfortunately, ur video didn't cover that.
I have heard dielectric grease conducts and will cause shorting if used liberally. Did you or have you experienced this?
Hi, I’ve been trying figure out our new Samsung and it’s been driving me crazy. Do you know how to access the Xfinity menu to search for movies? It randomly comes up when I double click the channel button. It’s not very consistent. Any help would be great, thank you!
I was on the phone with xfinity for half an hour and fixed the problem within 30 seconds of your video!!!!
Thanks for the video! After a year have you had anymore issues?
@@dustinyeary8266 no issues to date!
My truck has 2h,4a,4h, and 4l but it doesnt have differential lock can I add it or is it not possible?
I have a f150 2018 my trailer lights go off and on all night ,was that happening to you?
No, but it is probably related to bad / dirty connections in the harnesses
I know some people who use 4Lo and drive to the maximum speed (redline), and surprisingly they have no issue
I blew the transfer case on my Ram a few years back just going 50km/hr for about 10 seconds. I didn't realise I had done it until it was too late.
I had a problem where my trailer would lock the brake wheels whenever the wiring connector was installed between F-150 and trailer. I finally snapped that maybe the +12V was connected where the brake wire was. Sure enough, that was my problem. So I am troubleshooting this issue. From all sources the +12V pin is directly opposite the ground pin. In my case, that reads 0V, but the blue wire has the +12V on it. My pins look like yours. Somewhere in my vehicle, the brake wire and the +12V accessory wire must be crossed????? Any ideas?
I would guess it would be either close to your controller or close to the trailer wire, maybe even a trailer wire crossed
@@BartFixesIt Turns out the wiring was correct. The problem was the counterfeit brake controller was putting +12V on the brake line all the time. Tried an actual genuine Ford part, and everything works. Also discovered the accessory power isn't applied until the brain in the vehicle decides an actual trailer is connected. I haven't verified if mine works or not, but the brakes work great now.
I had the same problem and wasted about half a day chasing the problem on my newly wired trailer. Finally I gave up and bought the $11.99 vehicle side tester and discovered the problem was the same as yours; dirty connections at the plug. I cleaned it up and slathered the dielectric grease as you did. But I have a further problem in that the plug that connects the wire harness to the 7 way trailer plug won't click-lock into place as yours did.
There must be something holding it out a little
@@BartFixesIt it's getting fully in there, I think the prong is just bent down a little bit so it doesn't snap shut.
@scottdelaney98 I haven't seen shorting, but it would be a good idea to not be as generous with the grease as I was!
After time gone by did it still off or did it start back??
No - mine was a permanent fix. An unrelated issue with my tailgate button, but no trailer connected/ disconnected issue!
the funny thing no one have any idea about technology behind these modes 😮
we could it be if it's not working
User error? Bad batteries? Comcast firmware? There are so many things that could go wrong!
Great advice.
4H can easily hit 80MPH
If you need 4x4, I hope you're not going 80. If you need 4x4, you should also be able amd prepared to brake If another vehicle spins out in front of you.
So you used the bands. Woupd you say they work just as well as the metal chains? I always felt that the metal chains could damage the tires, especially if installed incorrectly.
Hey Bart.. when I try to go thru the process of setting up Comcast it doesn’t work. I get to the screen where it asks if I was able to change the channel and it never works. I’ve tried to manually put in the cable box model number and it still doesn’t work. Funny thing is, my old Samsung tv was able to do this but not my new s90c. Anything u think I forgot?
I had this issue too. Keep going - ensure you have the right model number.
@@BartFixesIt I have this issue. I got a new QN43QN90CAFXZA (I have 3 QN90 models 43", 55" and 65") and set up was a breeze and everything worked great. Now the Xfinity box PX022ANM is not responding to commands from the Samsung Smart Remote. Tried to reset the HDMI1 and when it gets to the point of asking if the channel changes or not, it doesn't. I briefly got it to work again by resetting the tv and powering it off for a few hours before going through the setup again. Of course went back to not working. Swapped out the remote with another Samsung Smart Remote and have the same problem. I need to find some time to swap out cable boxes and see if it follows the cable box.
Thanks for the video.. This truck is my very first 4x4. Thanks!
Enjoy it
Thanks for the video👌🏼
No problem 👍
Thx for explaining man great video
Very informative. Thank you.
My 2020 has some kind of coin holder there instead of 4 wheel drive button. Why?
Probably because you don't have a 4WD - I am guessing it is only 2WD
So you feel like in a cold snowy day with a few inches of snow, 4A will do just fine?
Yes - if it is patchy snow, I typically use 4A. Some will tell you just use 4H - I'd rather use 4A myself.
If the roads are snow covered and not patchy - use 4H.
Hi Bart. I have a Samsung TV and I cannot get the FF/FR to work on the Samsung remote. I can only get it to work on the Xfinity remote. Like you show in this video that play/pause button brings up a transport control (cool) - but when you try to use it, it operates the wrong thing (it brings up a channel select instead of doing FF/FR). Have you found out how to get the FF/FR to work with Xfinity? Thanks. -Pat
I’m having the same problems too. Can’t connect.
I cant get the FR/FR to work with Xfinity. I use my Tivo w/o issue though. I suggest to dump the Xfinity box and move to Tivo - it is a superior experience.
No, I determined the FF function won't ever be so great on the samsung remote, so I use both just for that. Lame, I know... still better with 95% of the functions are on the samsung remote!
So 4A shifts between 2h and 4h modes? So it is not open diferential 4wd then like in mitsubishi L200?
Is this an FX4?
It would apply to a FX4 too.
@brob8576 I have sports 4x4, and I don't have 4A, but I do have an E-locker and was wondering if it was exclusive to the FX4.
😅 I have the same FX4 too. It is my belief the E - locker should lock all four wheels together. I had a new 1997 Chevy work truck that came with full lockers. I think FX4 being an offroad vehicle it should have full lockers too. My FX4 doesn't have 4A either. Ford drop it in the FX4 for some reason, perhaps it was there were full lockers instead?
4A creates more wear on your transfer case/drivetrain from constantly engaging/disengaging 4wd. Imo its better to use 2H or 4H
Break what? That just means now you can put down some nasty 11s
Indeed!
How do you get to your DVR recordings?
From the Tivo screen, press the back button twice.
Thanks👍🏾👍🏾
My owners manual says way different then what u said on the locking differential. Not even available in 2wd.
Makes sense the rear locking differential isn't available stock on 2WD vehicles. Thanks for confirming!
@@BartFixesIt💀💀
Thanks 👍 for the video but can someone explain I have a 2016 f150 and a small or midsize camper that sleeps 5 what should I pull it in leave it in 2H?
Yes, leave it in 2H unless the road is slick, then 4H.
Ok what about up a hill ?
@@cjcj683 Depends on the road surface--sand, wet/muddy, or snow/slippery, etc.4x4 might be used.
*Promosm* 😎
anyone have a link for removing the diff lock control switch in a 2018 F150? Thanks
Cool! I'm going to see if this will work in my kids Polaris 120
You can’t go fast with the rears locked. They disengage at like 40 km/h or something like that. 25mph. It does this automatically as protection from stupid drivers. Nothing wrong with 4 high at hwy speed btw. But it’s harder to stop. Why drive that fast in poor conditions. ?
What about rain though? I find it annoying that trucks get loose around turns in the rain due to the rwd
I don't have 4a, how fast can I use my 4h?
As fast as you need. If you feel 4wd is required, the road is probably too slippery to take it more than around 40-60. Consider your conditions, just as you would in 2H.
