Wind was dying and shifty during this sail. Not the best example of seamanship, but had a good time anyway. First ever time using the GoPro on the boat. Need to point the camera down just a bit.

Ahoy! What size outboard do you have for your American 14.6. I have a trolling motor 30 lb thrust, it doesn't get out of its own way in a breeze. I'm looking for alternatives. I'm on Lake Norman, North Carolina
Thanks for sharing your video
@johndeprume3479 this was a 2.5hp. It was plenty. I ended up never using it and just counted on the winds
I am solo sailing my American sail 14.6 for the fourth time in 2 years, today and I could not remember if I had rigged the traveler correctly and I found your video. Discovered that I had rigged my jib lines inside the shrouds, too! Thanks for the refresher!
Nice
Great video... I harvested my honey for the first time... My question is, how do you get all the honey out of the extractor? There was some left that could not drain out so I tilted it forward but was unable to get it all...
I see you also have to add blocks of wood to the legs to get the needed height for the bucket. They need to make the legs longer.
Not quite. The legs are long enough for a 5 gallon bucket plus strainer. We added the legs for stability only. Connecting the legs together keeps it from wobbling so much. But the legs are okay without blocks
Thank you for your video
You're welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting

What are those containers you are capping in? Thanks!
Thanks for watching. That is the hive butler uncapping tank. I'm a big fan. I also bought a third container that isn't necessary for uncapping but I use to transport frames
Thanks so much for posting😊
Glad you could watch. Thank you
Nice video. What plastic uncaping boxes you use? That's nice setup!
Thank you! That is the hive butler uncapping tank. Then I purchased one additional tote for bringing frames inside so the whole system is 3 totes, but you can get by with 2. PS. They are also amazing for bringing a swarm back to your apiary because you can put frames in it and one option is a ventilated lid
Be sure all the buckets you use are food grade rated - generally not what you get from home supply stores!!
Tractor supply sells 90mil food grade buckets. It's even listed on the front permanently applied to the bucket
Yours too is the nice extractor
Thank you!
Thanks for the video, did, you film the step how you emptied the supers of bees?
I did not. For this one, I brought an extra super, shook the frame and placed the honey frame in the empty box. Once it was full I brought it to the door. I then had another empty box inside. I take the frames off one by one and when free of bees, bring them in the house. The other way I do it if I take the entire box is by using a small battery powered blower to get the bees out. Unfortunately my wife doesn't want to go out with the bees so I can only film myself. Would be much easier with a tripod or something
Thank you for this video. I'm happy to get a more detailed understanding of the makings of honey. What do you do with the wax cappings after the honey is separated? Do you use it personally or sell it? Also... Do you have to heat and melt it first or can you just sell large chunks to consumers for various purposes? Again thank you that was a very informative video.
Those are great questions. Yes to all of the above. You can sell it as-is but it's more common to sell it refined or make things out of it. You will need to melt it and then filter out some of the contaminants. Then once refined, I make candles, lip balms, and we also use wax to coat new frames so the bees can more easily draw comb inside the hive. Maybe I will make a video about that process next
Awesome video
Thank you! Appreciate you watching
Great basic video. I'm a newbie thank you.
Absolutely. I originally made this for FB but decided to just post here incase anyone might happen to find it
It's quiet, it really blows, it's elegant looking, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxmj9RYGCX25BElHkuWjHec-2_muyUGyCm remote is handy. Not too difficult to assemble (see below)The assembly instructions left out a few tips, IMHO (see photo for my tips)Oh, and be patient when you attach the cage halves together (last step). You might want to loosen the screw just a little bit before you start. It's awkward (don't drop it!), but you'll get it.
I'm a lifetime powerboat owner who's always wanted a sailboat and to learn to sail. I just acquired a 1994 American 14.6 and I just got it home and getting it ready to launch today. Thanks for you review with the basics on this boat. That's exactly what I needed right now.
Where did u get the foam protection from? I am searching this stuff to protect the upper side of the hulls🖐️💪
You can order it from SailRite. Just go to their website and type in Deck Foam. The boat in this video is not mine so I'm not exactly sure where he got his, but I have ordered some for my F16 and F18 and it's great stuff.
@@DialedN_07 thanks for ur answer!!
Nice color on that 20! Where are y located?
This is my buddies boat. It is kept in SE North Carolina. Sailing was done in Norfolk VA
That was a very nice review, there is one close to us for sale 2018 for $5,500 boat / trailer
Great boats. I wish I still had mine.
@@DialedN_07 Great to know. I have no idea about pricing, what do you think about the above ?
@@bug512 hard to say. Mine wasn't quite that new. If sails are good and trailer is good, it wouldn't be a bad bet. Mine was about 2k cheaper (can't remember the year). But they don't come up for sale often. Again, great boat
Thanks for the info just what I was looking for.
What's that cupholder setup on the keel console?
Just a simple marine cupholder from any sporting goods store. Suction cups hold it to the boat, and then the plastic bit just slides onto the suction cups.
This is better than the solar generator
Oscillating fan
My Haward leight doesn't give much protection against load gun sound. NRR of 22 is way short of 33 which is needed. I opened it up and packed it with insulation with the hope of improvement. I will soon use it at the range and if it is still inadequate, it will be replaced with two simple ear plugs for a dollar.
Thanks... wasn't sure why the black cord was just hanging there... the documentation isn't great. This was HELPFUL. Thank you.
This is the video that helped me make up my mind. I’m picking mine up from Dave in Charleston on Monday⛵️
Awesome. Congrats!
I just bought a 2015 and just took it out last week with 4 people. It was perfect.
Excellent boats! Hope you enjoy
love the mini review... I've been into sailboats for around 4 years and I've come across what seems to be a good deal for a used one of these... great to see what it offers.
Thanks Liam! Glad you enjoyed.
I have one. Installed a propane kit to it. No problems. They are now $899 at Lowe's July of 2021.
But if I were them, I would’ve made it in a pinch I made it at because the patients are now makes a little bit quieter and below us more air then/than it used to
Ours used to oscillate. Now it’s has...Well I’m not really sure what the word is I guess maybe improved or so???🤔🤔🤔🤨🤨🤨🧐🧐🧐 basically it has a deeper pinch or someone of a neighbor page, because sometime this year or whenever when we had a gathering at our house, and then tell me to move it but I never did so through it and it messed up the blade so it’s a little off balance on high speed but not like it used to me. It used to be nasty with fashion and how do you speed and it will wobble at crazy, but now it has a loan benefit deeper pitch no isolating function anymore, and I forgot what I was sayin🤷♂️🤦🏼♂️
Its a good generator it has lasted 3 years now, but important to remember do not keep that factory brake in oil , we made that mistake, change it to good 10w30 when you can , but its fixed and running good now
Thanks for the video! I’m looking for a good used 14.6 in Wisconsin. It would be perfect for our relatively shallow 1300 acre lake in Northern Wisconsin. I’m curious about the rope traveler. Would it be possible to build one spanning the aft on a wooden base with cleats at both sides? That would allow you to trim the boom to come in tighter to the wind.
Anything is possible on a fiberglass boat really. I do look at this boat as more of a cruiser/pleasure sailing craft, so even though the racer in me was bothered, the way the boat is set up was fine. I personally wouldn't spend the time to change it
You didn't tell me you do shooting reviews. :)
More a little more downhaul
I wasn't overpowered here, I think the downhaul was good. Downhaul would flatten the sail and depower the boat
There's a lot of room to go you have all the way to the silver mark, a little more would pull out the creases and it would be less flighty and hold a bit more speed ..... check out how much downhaul Joe Bennett goes when he solo's
Do you know where to get the replacement nuts and bolts from?
Good vid! I’m in the hunt for some ear protection...I’m thinking the Walkers!
Just picked mine up from Lowes for $580!! Hope she is reliable when we need it (Wilmington NC here) 👍🏻
I just got this year is a 92 American 14.6 I have not been out yet but I will in the next couple of days. I love the idea of a topping lift kit . I have to get one of those . Thank you for the information.
I added one to my American 14.6 and it makes a huge difference, especially when single-handed.
Looking at one for sale. I have always been interested in the boat to teach my kids to sail. Thanks for this nice and informative video!
Brian Shanahan this is exactly why I made the video. I tried to find views online and there wasn’t a detailed video available
Just bought one, look forward to sailing it at High Rock and Blues lake. Nice video
Sir do you think they have replacement motors for it or I could buy a motor and it’s made for a different van like a date and murder and stick it on there or will it not work?
I noticed after a minute that the screw is kinda I guess coming lose loose when I walked back out there
So I had the pedestal fan on the patio I was talking it and then I heard a clicking sound in half an hour turn it it will not come on if it’s turned in a certain position and wanted to offer that position to come home and I was showing my sister that we didn’t looks like a murder cover on the back of pumplSo I had the pedestal fan on the patio I was talking it and then I heard a clicking sound in half an hour turn it it will not come on if it’s turned in a certain position and wanted to offer that position to come home and It looks like the motor cover on the back is loose or came loose somehow my Instagram is lennongroover or @lennongroover. Because I might try to post a picture on there so you can see it and tell me what it means or why it’s doing that
I got the 3500 one and it seemed to do pretty good
For hunting, how well can you determine the direction of sounds with each of these models?
This is something that I've tried to test unsuccessfully. I hunt mainly field edges and ridges so I know which direction noises should be coming from. Inside tests are too loud where both ears pick up the noise just by the nature of echo, etc. My best guess is to say that they are directional because there are two microphones, but I believe each microphone is broadcast to each speaker. Not 100% certain though
To the company I would’ve either kept the fan the way it is but a deep or a deeper pitch a adjustable pitch wide blade or adjustable pitch wide blade. And maybe where you can add or take away blades too
Hello. So which headphones are better for hunting?
I find myself wearing the Walker Razor more. Perfectly happy with both though
