8BitDo Retro Keyboard 85HE (IBM Model M Clone) Review Quickie

Here's my quickie review of the 8bitdo Retro Keyboard (H85). I compare this a bit with my real IBM Model M boards and take it for a test drive. I wish it supported more bluetooth connections and had backlighting, but you could counter-argue that it absolutely nails the experience that it sets out to. Very cool board, also super loud and fun.
Keychron V3 Ultra-Slim Review Quickie

Here's my Quickie Review of the Keychron V3 Ultra Slim Mechanical Keyboard. I love this thing and yet, it just doesn't quite feel good enough to me to keep. Maybe my particular unit's just got some sticky switches, I'm not sure. But I'm sadly going to send it back. It has everything I desire except for a really really pleasant typing experience. :(

Here's my quick little review of the RK H81 keyboard. Really cool retro vibe on this one. Great feature set. Annoyingly non-shine through keycaps (Which is irritatingly common).

AnyCubic Slicer: How to add automatic bed mesh levelling for every print
Просмотров 4956 месяцев назад
If you're obsessive like me, you may want to get your Anycubic Printer to run the auto bed mesh levelling routine before every print. Arguably it's not needed on machines with beds that are not on springs, but I like to do it. For instance if you change your nozzle or bed sheet, this could be helpful. Anyway, I'm not telling you to use it, I'm just showing you how after some people asked me how...

I needed to fix my bathroom door so it would latch. So I turned to 3D printing. This video's a good little example of what you can accomplish around the house if you get decent at CAD modelling and using your 3D printer.

Nice. Thank you for the video!
Can I ask if there are replacement key caps that ship with the keyboard for the B and A blue buttons. That's the only part of this keyboard that would set off my OCD.
Great question - the one I bought came with zero replacement/alternate keycaps. I wish it had macOS variants that I could swap-on the board (and easly macOS mode, which just requires swapping alt+windows keys).. But, nope.
This is the only 8bitdo M review on RUclips lol
Maybe I should legit put in an effort and make a far better review of this board. I totally noticed no videos on this too, I don’t understand why too. It’s a very fun board.
@@DocDawningI would assume because it hasn't launched in many places yet. I placed an order on one here in Europe but it won't even be out until Aug 31, and Amazon says I'll only receive the order by Sep 7-8.
@@DocDawning I would if I were you, first movers advantage!
very nice
Whats the reasoning for that layout? Is it healthier for the wrists?
A split layout helps reduce ulnar deviation; that's when your wrists bend outwards on a normal keyboard. It's better to have a fully split keyboard (like the Dygma Raise) but an Alice layout is already better than a normal keyboard.
@@DygmaLabagreed. The Dygma boards look epic to me. The Keychron V10 could be a fine stepping stone to a Dygma product. I’d love to try out one of those one day. Both of the Dygma boards vs a cheaper Alice build like the V10 all have their respective strengths/merits.
Finally. Ive been looking for this review.
Thanks, I've been looking for a review lm this specific m edition. Alot of reviews focused on the NES edition
Yeah, I noticed that too.
I kind of want a K2. Keychron has a Max version of it. Get your grievances with the K3. I have a K5, felt the same way. I changed the keycaps to pure flat keycaps, like those found normally on laptops, the Apple keyboards. This did improve the feeling to me but still the keyboard feels "sharp". Normal height profile keyboards feel a bit more comfortable to type on for some reason.
i like the macro buttons on the left and knob, wish they had that layout but in compact normal form (no spaces between the macro keys and left side keys)
Keychron has a billion models, maybe they have an Alice layout a but closer to what you have in mind.
Love this keyboard (: Been using it for years.
Thanks for this information! I figured that AnyCubic would have this enabled by default for relevant printers with their own software, but guess not! Cheers!
Hi! I need help as a newbie. I see, you are an experienced user of this slicer, would you please tell me how to set up printing sequence in the slicer - for example, I have 4 identical parts and I want to print them not at the same time, but in turn. Thanks in advance.
Please one for Big Sur.
Looks good! How did you set this up?
It’s using the “Xbox” app installed via the Play Store. My Xbox One S is configured to work with remote play, which means my Xbox runs the game and streams the interface to a client, such as the RP2+. So, this is completely legit, supported and works out of the box.
@@DocDawning thanks! My retroid is arriving somewhere next week :)

Please let us know if is there any solution for Big Sur, Thanks in advance!
Thanks, you saved me!
Thanks a lot ! works also with ML-1615
How to do.
Funny how they keep on showing JR trains instead of Seibu trains. Still, I love seeing this old footage of a time when I was a regular at the games. The Seibu-Kokudo rivalry was great. I miss it.

Today I put a mod on my ender 3 pro for direct extrusion, without any money, just 3d printed parts. And the cooling mod HeroMe, and it's super nice, you should try it. Search it at thingiverse.com
joaquim, thanks for saying. I don’t mind bowden setups due to reduced momentum riding on my X axis. And I like keeping my machine looking fairly stock. HeroMe does look good, I may try it one day. I’m glad you like your own mods. Happy printing!
I tried very hard to use the ml 1610 printer for mac 10.14. no method worked, until I saw this video. Thank you so much from 2020.
Canan, you are quite welcome!

excelente tutorial, instale el driver de mi impresora ml-1610 en mi macbook mac os mojave 10.14.6 y jalo excelente, eres un Dios, muchas gracias
Denada Sergio Castellanos. :)
its not working on 10.15 catalina plz help..:(
umar, I do not have a direct fix for that. I believe the driver’s 32 bit, which means it can’t work on Catalina. The description explains you can use it on Catalina if you have an older macOS run it and then you turn on printer sharing
That’s funny Thanks
Heureka! I've found a relatively easy way to install a Samsung ML-1610 driver on MacOSX 10.14 Mojave! If anyone is interested, please comment. This might potentially also open the door for other legacy printers.
And, without explanation, here’s my ML-1610 being used by my iPad running iOS 13: ruclips.net/video/goS0ytG0uFE/видео.html

Hi, I also tried on Catalina and followed your steps. The problem is that the system can't read the .ppd file. In that case I can't finish the last step. By the way, the system also warned me that the "Splix-2.0.0" is not compatible with Catalina. Is there any way to solve it? thanks
Only current option I have for Catalina is to indirectly print through an older Mac. You can turn on Printer Sharing on the older Mac and then print to the ML-1610 through that.
Hi, is that possible to install the driver on 10.15.1
@@jamessnell2572 Thanks for the reply! unfortunately, it failed. I tried for several times with the mentioned author's suggestions. Now I have to print documents within my virtual machine. Maybe the time is coming to replace this old fellow.
Nuclear Ant, I still think it’ll work. In what way did it fail for you?

@@user-xe1wd9tf9b I must have been mistaken. I just tried it on 10.15.0 and it fails. My guess is that the loss of 32bit support is the root cause. I have no direct fix. An indirect fix, that works, but sucks, is to use an older Mac such as one running 10.14 and print through ML1610 Blaster on Catalina by enabling Printer Sharing from the older Mac. This is an ugly work-around, but then again, so is ML-1610 Blaster in the first place. Not to mention, it's completely free and gets a printer that shipped with Windows 98 drivers to work in 2019.
Hi, I tried to setup this on catalina but it didn't work for me. Any idea?
Ahmed, I used it on Catalina a few days ago with no issue. Note the steps do indicate that when you run the installer, it is expected to fail, but it succeeds enough for the following steps to work.
I’ll try again and let you know, thanks
I must have been mistaken when I commented that it worked (that other post saying it worked was me). I have no direct fix, but you can get it to work indirectly if you print via Printer Sharing on an older Mac that it does work on. That's the best I have for the moment. Sorry.
Thanks a lot!
Filippo B, you are quite welcome!
CONGRATULATIONS! Thank you! you help me a lot. yesterday I lost all my day traing to connect my old printer to Mac Mojave 10.14.6... already resigned, today I tray the last chance and I found your video, and now I am happy printing. thank you very much!
what a legend, works in 25.06.2019 on mojave
Yeah, it took me a while to figure out which is why I bundled it up to make ML1610Blaster. My printer runs off an old Airport Express too. What a trusty little printer. :)
By chance you can not support me with the ml1670 driver. that I can not find any that serves me in my mac os 10.13. tnks!
