Hey everyone, with the nights already getting crisper and the official start of fall just around the corner, it's time to start thinking (and talking!) about all the cozy knitting projects for the colder seasons. What yarn did you use to make the Sophie shawl? It’s got such a pretty halo and color!
It’s the Rowan Alpaca Colour in the colorway Jade! I’m afraid it’s been discontinued but you might be able to find some leftover skeins online or maybe at your local yarn store!
Yay the new mic and light are great quality! Love to watch your podcast while knitting <3
omg ahh I totally missed your comment. Thank you so much! 🥹 Sadly had to return the mic but I’m hoping to get a new one soon!! Here’s to improving production quality haha
Lovely video!! So peaceful:)
Thank you!☺️
the aesthetic of your channel is so pleasing to me and i feel so like.. calm and safe??? like wow /pos
I just found your channel and I gotta say your videos/podcasts are so calming and fun. Just the thing I needed to watch while I lay in bed with a cold and knit on my Maggie cardigan!
Aww thank you!🥹 I’m glad you enjoy my videos. Hope you get better soon!🤧 and have fun with your Maggie cardigan!
Hi, Clare! I evidently missed seeing this video when it came out… I love your inspo board! Great way to capture things that are “sparking joy” in your life right now! A thought for how you could use the second board - maybe print pictures from your “favorites” page in Ravelry (maybe a Make 9 list like a lot of creators make every January, for the things they want to make that year). Then you could find similar ideas/patterns/color themes that help you figure out what colors you want to use. Then pin up yarn samples, swatches, etc. Just some ideas as food for thought for you…! Take care!
Thank you so much for your sweet comment! That’s a great suggestion, I’ll think about it!
She’s adorable, Clare! She’s kinda giving off vibes (to me, anyway) of Henny Penny, from the children’s fable. Just a suggestion, though. Take care!
Oh I’ve never heard of that story! I’ll have to look it up. Thanks for the suggestion! 🐓
@@madebyclare - I just checked on Amazon, and it was written by Sophie Giles…! Cute story!
Hi!! 😊 Thank you so much for your video, I'm also learning Korean and those are great tips! I also have the book 죽고 싶지만 떡볶이는 먹고 싶어 at home! But I feel like It's too difficult for now, I'll get there though! One page at a time 💪
Thank you, I’m happy you found the tips helpful! You can do it, 화이띵!
Das Huhn sieht super aus. ❤
Danke! :D
Hi, Clare! Loving all of your knits…! And the sweater you’re wearing turned out really cute! Your clerkship does sound rather strenuous, but just keep in mind that it’s not going to last forever & you’re learning a lot while you’re there. Your first pair of color work socks look really interesting (and pretty too!), so I looked them up. I’m thinking seriously about getting the book since there are so many sock patterns in it that I like. You’ve inspired me! Thanks for a great podcast!
Thank you!! I think the book has a really nice selection of all types of socks! dk, colorwork, cables, lace - there’s a little bit of everything so if you like the patterns I would definitely recommend it! :)
@@madebyclare - as I said, you inspired me! I did get the book after all…! Thanks again, and have a great weekend!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading East of Eden recently. It was a deeply humbling read with lots of riveting chapters. Painful to read at times because of the focus it demands and the emotions it evokes, yet I felt deeply alive and changed mid-way through. Steinbeck's prose is also very soothing.
Oh that makes me really excited to read it, I‘m happy you enjoyed it! I think i might just not be in the right headspace these days cause I’m too busy to really focus on it. But one day (hopefully soon) I hope to be able to get into it!
These are all so beautiful! Honestly one of the things that crafts did was to make me more comfortable with mistakes so when it's not super noticeable from afar, poses no harm, and will take a lot of frogging or if it's already finished, I'll leave it alone. As for the To Be So Lonely, if you plan to cut and play a bit piecing around (sleeves as straps, back piece to extend the bottom), it feels like it can be a pretty scrap apron! At least a scrap apron was my current with some scrap yarn. Also agree that knitting or crocheting can take a lot of time from other hobbies (I miss reading physical books and haven't feel like following audiobooks). So.. one way I go about it is allocating time slots to manage it better. Knitting less doesn't feel like it'll hurt if it's well intentioned and I really respect that you can reflect upon what your hobby means to it, it's admirable and very encouraging! I don't frequent making garments but I can imagine how overwhelming a full closet of made clothes can be over time.. taking it slower than slow sounds pleasant in its way. Although I'm guilty of making figuring out the ways and how yarn can live in my life hahaha
Thank you so much!☺️ An apron is an interesting idea! I’m just not sure how well the lace would hold up as an apron🤔 I’ll try to figure sth out haha
Can't believe how amazing and neat your knitting is considering it's your first year of knitting! - I get that it might be that you were knitting when you were younger as well, but still! it's good to know that the storm sweater is beginner-friendly as I think it looks gorgeous but felt like it's going to be complicated for me as someone who is not too experienced
Your discussion about knitting less is really interesting as well - I think about this a lot - i feel sad for not knitting as much as some people whose videos I watch, but on the other hand, I would be so overwhelmed by having all of that stuff in my wardrobe! I'm a pretty slow makes, but maybe it's not a bad thing after all. And I love you mentioning other hobbies too - again, sometimes i feel guilty for neglecting knitting for other hobbies for a while, but maybe it's not a bad thing after all
Thank you so much🥹 Yes definitely go for the Storm Sweater if you like the design! I’m actually making a second one rn! And definitely try not to feel pressured about knitting more (I know that’s easier said than done, but still). Hobbies are sth that should bring us joy and relaxation, not stress us out even more!!
I’ve been knitting Maggie cardigan using drops 4ply alpaca with mohair in yellow and making three quarter sleeves. I do love your scrappy version.
That sounds beautiful! I adore yellow✨ And thanks!
Hello ClaRe! Finally caught up with your videos and it's been so enjoyable. I was so happy to find you but didn't have a lot of time to watch until recently. Was an extra lovely surprise when this channel turned to knitting and yarn (and occasional life vlogs)! Wasn't expecting it since I think I found you from some books sharing, but love this so much. All the works that you have knitted up looks so beautiful too! Just one more year is also very relatable. Every time I need to study, everything else feels so much more interesting (especially yarn hahaha). The mystery of how scrap yarn works together or whether they are enough always feel like part of the fun. This turns out super cute! I love the ribbings, and it feels like the button bands has a lot of personality when unbuttoned. Thank you for sharing this journey, these slightly longer sharing are very cosy to have in the background (I'm going to miss them but patiently hyping for the next one)! ❤
Wow, if you remember my book videos you're really one of the OGs haha! Thank you so much for your sweet comment :) New videos are in the works and should be out very soon!
@@madebyclare Saw the upload and so hype haha! Can't wait to find a good time to sit back with it. Thank you so much too, I love your works and podcast! 💕
I just found your Channel so far I'm loving it what's the pattern for the sweater you're wearing in this video
Thank you! It’s the Clematis Sweater by Emma Maier! :)
gonna go watch all your videos, i love the vibes and your personality ☺️
Awww that’s so sweet 🥺 I‘m glad you like them!
currently making a scrap blanket, i actually ran out of yarn so i had to buy more! haha
I feel like the point of scrappy projects is using up all of the scraps so running out of yarn just means that you were successful, right?! 😂
@@madebyclare very true! 🤣
helllo !! i love your content c: i was wondering, is your white sweater one that you knit? if so, is there a pattern?
Awww thank you!! Yes, it’s the Storm Sweater by PetiteKnit! ☺️
@@madebyclare thank you so much !! i have been admiring it for a while now lol
Looks super cute, congrats!
Thank you!! 😊
The ophelia blouse looks amazing on you!! I've been wanting to making one but I've heard the pure silk grows with wear. Have you experienced any growing?
Thank you!! So far I haven’t had any issues but I haven’t worn it enough yet to tell if it’s gonna grow😅
I haven't been studying as much as I should too. I'll try out your knit and study method 🎉
Hope it helps!
For an alpaca you might like camarose midnatssol 😊
oooh that looks like it would be a great fit for the pattern!! I may have already bought another yarn 👀 but I’ll keep the Midnatssol in mind for a later time, thanks for the suggestion!
New subscriber here…! I really enjoy your podcast “journaling” format! So happy for you that you passed all of your exams, too (from your prior video!). I’m impressed that you’re tackling your gauge issues so effectively. It’s got to be so frustrating, and I’m sorry that I don’t have any words of wisdom for you as I have the opposite problem - I’m a very tight knitter. Hang in there, though. You’re doing great!
Thank you!! Yeah gauge troubleshooting is super frustrating but still less frustrating than an FO that doesn’t fit, so I try to be diligent haha
Just stumbled on your Chanel and subscribed. Your fos are gorgeous, love all three of them, looking forward to seeing you again 🧶🧶❤
Thank you so much!!
Great video❤! Happy the algorithm recommended your channel!
Thank you! Welcome~

Qing fibers is new to me! love their vibe. I feel like Knitting for olive mohair comes in a bunch of shades that would work well with the skeins you ordered, if you can wear mohair! I can't because it is too itchy (even mohairs that have good reputations don't seem to work for me) so I was intrigued to see your Atonea choice, I'll have to look for it here in the States. Look fwd to seeing how your project turns out!
Ooooh yes that's a great idea! KFO has an amazing shade range. Thanks for the suggestion <3
Thanks for taking us along with your process on the Breeze Cardi! It turned out beautiful. Totally worth all the mathing, lol.
Thank you!!
Congratiolations on finishing your exams! I hope you can rest dor a bit now. I also finally casted on the breeze cardigan and its coming along (very slowly tho). Yours looks really lovely, the colour is just so nice!
Thank you! Rooting for you and your breeze cardigan! It’s a lot of work, but it’s so worth it!
hi new subscriber here !! I'm happy to hear you passed all your exams, they're always soooo stressful. I've really enjoyed watching your last few videos!! right now I'm working on the first sleeve of my travelers cardigan by ozetta (: love from Florida <3
Ahhhh thank you so much!!! 💕 Omg Florida, that’s crazy! It’s so cool to get to connect with people from all over the world through this ✨silly little hobby✨🥹
You memtioned quite a few good patterns. There is just always so little time to knit all of them
You’re so right, sadly there’s always more beautiful patterns out there than there is time to knit and it’s really hard to choose which ones to invest your time in🥺
I enjoyed the video! I tested the zephyr pullover and I can confirm the pattern is beautiful ❤ I used drops brushed alpaca and I had no problems wearing it with only a tank top underneath, but I’m not particularly sensitive to yarns in general
That’s really helpful to know, thank you so much!
The Orphelia Blouse is my second garment knitting…SO EXCITED! Still waiting for my silk yarn to arrive. Also, love love your little dinosaur- gives so much personality to your looks!
Good luck on your Ophelia blouse!! and Thank you!😁
Thank you for including my Mr Goostavo in this! 🥺🪿💗 and wow you made me also fall in love with the romola twist wrap in the black & pink combo, it is stunning!! 🌟

Good thinking ahead about having to move your stash in a few years. Wish I was that insightfull... My scrap dsstinations: Cotton scraps: descrap granny blanket blanket Scrappy scraps cotton: magic ball worked into dishclothes Sockyarn: scrappy sweaters (basic raglan in wild stripes) Scrappy scraps sockyarn: magic ball worked into a scrappy amigurumi dog (random free internet pattern),
All of those are really good ideas for scraps!! Thanks!
I was so excited to see this video! I have been eyeing this cardigan as well, but I'm unsure about casting it on bc I'm not sure my knitting skills are good enough and I have not seen anyone knitting this from the english pattern yet. So thak you for making this vlog!
Thank you for your comment! I actually followed the Korean pattern but I just checked over the English version and the translation seems fine! I do think it’s more of an intermediate pattern bc some of the techniques aren’t explained in great detail (like i cord bind offs for example), but if you know how to read charts and are willing to look some things up on youtube I think you should be fine :)
@@madebyclare thanks so much for checking the pattern! I think it sounds doable for me, so let’s go!!
This cardigan is sooo cute! <3 I want to knit a cardigan too but I'm a bit scared it'll be dificult 🫢 I recently made my first 'knitting podcast' where I also frogged two projects to use the yarn for a different jumper, and even though it hurts to frog old projects it's so worth it to use it for something that will fit well and be worn!! ❤
Thanks, that’s so sweet! I would say just go for it! It’s not that much harder than a sweater, and you’ll learn a lot from it :)
Hiii, I just found your channel!🥰 Cool video, I love to see other small RUclipsrs do knitting videos! I enjoyed watching, keep making content!! 😍
Thank you! 😊
i just found your channel this morning, and i'm very happy youtube recommended it to me :) reworking old pieces can be pretty tiring, but i find it's so worth it! - i just turned my first knit sweater into a lonely leftovers vest that i'm so excited to wear in the winter your cardigan turned out absolutely lovely!
Thank you, that’s so sweet! And I absolutely agree! It’s truly a labour of love but I’m glad I did. I’ve already worn the cardigan a bunch so it really is worth it!
For the elastic around the neckline you could use elastic thread and weave it through the stitches!
Do you mean elastic sewing thread? That’s the only one I’ve been able to find in stores nearby. Thanks for the tip!
Yep! Elastic sewing thread is what I meant.
oooh i see, I’ll try that! Thanks :)
this is lovely!!
Thank you!🥰
i loveeee your ophelia blouse! it’s been on my list forever and i’m waiting to get a few more garments under my belt before starting it. i’m so tempted to make an identical one to you and tamara lol she’s really nailed it
Thank you :) The black is just perfect, right? and you can totally do it!! Everything is explained in detail, so if you know how to do short rows and simple increases and decreases, you’re good to go!
Yay, I’m sub #29, my fave number! I love videos like this but it’s bedtime, so I’ll be back to watch 🫶
Thank you for subbing and watching!☺️
For the scraps you can make e never ending granny square blanket! Like you just add rows
That’a fun idea! Thanks!
Hello, just found your channel . I find watching destashes very relaxing while I knit. Must be entertaining and make me feel like a friend is talking to me. A pleasant voice which doesnt grate is also a must. You tick All the boxes and then some. Looking forward to seeing more from you❤❤❤sandym
Omg that is so sweet🥹 thank you so much!
For your scraps once you get enough you can make granny squares & once you have enough of them you can use them to make scarves, sweaters or blankets. Or you could always just crochet or knit your scraps all together to make a stash blanket. You could also crochet or knit a scrap basket. I hope this helps! Good luck 🍀
Good suggestions. I used my scraps to knit a patchwork sweater. Turned out really unusual.❤
I love all of those ideas, thank you so much! I think a blanket would be really cool, like a memory blanket with all the yarns from different projects 😍
Schön
Danke! :)
