Kauai Waialeale Blue Hole Falls Trail Kauai, Hawaii September 2021
If you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle you can drive to the trailhead. Otherwise, start at the arboretum.
Note: this video is a bit out of sequence in the beginning because I edited this 2 years after we hiked it.
Also please leave no trace as you hike. He a good steward and go prepared with extra water and food!
I wouldn’t go when it’s raining. It could flood and be very dangerous.

Stacking rocks is not cool unless you have the mana for do it. Most respectful thing: Leave nothing, change nothing. Regard everything as sacred. Be thankful for being in these places.Don't trespass off trails. AMAZING tings to do and see without disturbing the aina.

Any thoughts on possibly mountain biking from the arboretum? Then, hiking the 6 miles at the original trailhead? *trail is closed to 4 wheel to the trailhead due to a recent storm...my son and i will be there next week.
I think it'd be possible until you get to the river crossing with the dam! There is no trail and you lose sight of it and bush wack. So, you'd have to leave the bikes to go all the way. But, we haven't been since 2021. I'd reach out to others or locals. Thanks for watching!
Got some good shots. The video is a little out of sequence in the beginning though. We hiked that trail in September of 2022 but we rented a jeep wrangler and drove to the trailhead. Awesome and rugged hike.

When the scene stars at 9:54 is crazy!! defiantly need to make that into a short video and post it everywhere!! this is by far the craziest, awesome, deep in kauai hike ive seen! I did something similar my first time, got lost and freaked on the way back because it got dark fast!

Nah, bruh, "Keep it Kauaʻi it (quiet)". It's a sacred site, it has many critically endangered flora in there (hence the fences). It's a rugged, demanding & in spots technical hike. It's not for everyone, if they don't have the endurance or skill levels. It regularly flash floods in there. People have died from being swept down river. Not something to promote.
Where was the starting point? could drive this whole trail?
Hey! We parked right past the Keahua Arboretum and used the Jurassic Park Gate Trail and the Blue Holes Trail maps on AllTrails to help us. You can’t drive this by any means. You are bush sacking on an overgrown small trail or traversing through the river half of the time 😅 it’s a special place so leave no trace if you end up hiking it and go prepared with extra (I mean a lot) of water and snacks
Yes, you can drive from the arboretum to the trailhead IF you have a four wheel drive vehicle with a lot of ground clearance. In other words, rent a jeep wrangler and hope it hasn't rained too much recently because the road WILL be muddy and the water puddles WILL be deep. And if you take a wrong turn, you will be wasting a lot of time. You should also know that if something happens to your rental vehicle while you're back in the jungle on that road, it's probably going to cost you a fortune for the recovery.
