Getting lucky with the 64 Ranchero fuel system
I’m Im the same way. I have a long term project that I’m close to finishing. I’ve had some trepidation with stuff that I haven’t done before, and while not perfect, I did it myself and it feels soo good. I’ve given myself a “deadline” and have kicked myself in the butt lately, with the ambition to get out to the garage a couple week nights and at least one weekend at per week. You are right about the part about getting gratification from doing work.
Sometimes if I buy something for the project it helps me move forward. We are never finished!
Gorgeous property, especially with the snow
It was magical when the trees were all weighted down a few days before.
Link for the hard top thank u nice work
Great update. Under dash work disorients me for hours. In the middle of some drudgery on a cabin project right now with winter as my motivator. If you can’t be with the one you love, love the one you’re with…
How to order the cab wall?
www.fiberster.com/product/samurai---sierra-cabin-enclosure-for-swb
Rear cab enclosure is great
Thanks for the info.. where did you purchase?
Amazon for the springs. Bushings from another online retailer, can't remember but if your old ones are in good shape, you might be able to reuse them.
David, thank you so much for your quick reply. I really appreciate you. If I take out the two front seats is it pretty much downhill from there in regards to laying the carpet. I am not super mechanically sound and don’t wanna move too much of the wiring. How is your samurai coming along?
There is almost no wiring down there and what there is has connectors you can undo. I'm using my Samurai as a little truck to haul parts and jump start and pull vehicles around the property. The engine smokes when it warms up but I've got a 1.6 sidekick engine that I need to put in at some point. That will be a video!
Nice!! That will be great upgrade. BTW, do you have any recommendations on a front bumper? Something simple, not too loud.
Nice work! How long to remove the front seats and rear bench?
I didn't have a rear bench but the front seats took about 20 minutes to pull. Just need to move them forward and backwards to expose the bolts. Well worth it in my opinion. I wish I'd fine the inside of the doors as well but maybe in the future.
Are you going to sell it
Susanna likes it way too much so gonna be a keeper!
Yes they are great truck , had mine for 45 years
I just want to buy them all!
Awesome to get the back story on the Baja! I’m having fun with it! Already have the engine stripped down and am treating it to some nice new parts. Just finished putting a pair of new cylinder heads on it today! Thanks again…
Clearly, you have the same disease I do. Thanks for saving me! And for doing the bug right! Looking forward to seeing it on and off road.
Happy Birthday! Solid prioritization discipline. You added a lot of value to that bug in a short amount of time - well played!
Happy Birthday Brother! Good job on the Bug. Glad to see she lives to drive another day. I hate to see her go but you can’t keep them all….. I guess! 😂
I always liked the way they looked.
Cool bug ..
there is no ball joint , they are king pin
Clearly, I've got some learning to do! Thanks!!!
@@davidinfante8529 probably just a bad wheel bearing ...
Shop cat! You are a master at working on these vehicles, but your true talent is finding them and talking people out of them at the right price.
Well. It did come with a gun rack that needs to be out back on!
Yea Man!! Good stuff! I wouldn’t change a thing about it.
That patina is pure art. Element pulling an F250 would turn some heads. Set the trailer brake gain to at least 4 😊
Nice Bug! Love seeing that Element working for a living. Meanwhile Ranchero sitting in background…
The Freechero is waiting on a title. If you want to see the Element work check out the next video!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing the details. I love hearing the backstory on these gems. Can’t wait to see the progress.
More to come!
Sounds really nice! Not sure how “strategic bends” escaped the air quote edit, but it did turn out well!
The popping turned out to be two crossed spark plug wires. Sounds even better now. Shopping for glass packs as the current mufflers are not strategically out of the way of the driveshaft enough...
Monsoon season? Gonna be a great truck.
Great work. Harbor freight moving blanket looks great and probably more comfortable than the original upholstery.
Great intro, so true. I heard some Cincinnati and Denison accents in there. High energy today and great assessment of where you’re at with it. Favorite Easter Egg today was the glimpse of the parts storeroom - don’t forget to check those out on Maximo.
Love the videos. I’m working on my 72 and it needs a new bed and floor pans. Very frustrating but you have to be patient. You summed it up perfectly
Agreed. I "forced" myself to work on it today and made a lot of progress. Video to follow! Thanks for watching.
@@davidinfante8529 thanks. These kind of videos help me stay motivated
Nice work! Bonus for the tailgate wine fridge, brings a little class to the operation.
It's a 12 volt fridge, now wired in to my solar. It's got soda water in it. I've been dry for a bit!
Nothing like the sound of open headers get the juices flowing. Good stuff!
302 right
Yes sir. An E7te block.
Re:spinning tires “I’m beyond that - mostly”. That after the TRX tire era?
During. 390mm! They were less expensive then.
Georgeous car!!! I was “this close” to buying one just like it years ago! That was a tough thing, not being able to close that deal. But here I am, years later owning a low mileage ‘93 LX hatch. (All black) 👍
I think we should all get what makes us happy. Life is short and things will come and go in our lives. I missed out on a red 4 speed 289 65 fastback once that I still regret but not enough to pony up (pardon the pun).
@@davidinfante8529 Amen to that! Life is definitely too short.
She’s a beauty! 😎 Reminds me of your old LX. “That looks like a Ford product in my rear view mirror.” Famous last words. 🚔👮🏻♂️
That little bit of fire is a motivator
Great work, dude. Can you wear a timex? Gives me anxiety - I’d bash up that nice watch in 5 minutes working on the car.
I have a lot of mechanical watches I cycle through. That one is a 1972 self winding Timex. I think I paid $15 for it. I usually just polish the crystals if they get too scratched.
302? Looks good. That trailer hitch tongue looks custom.
You, Sir, have a good eye. Bought it like that.
Looks great. Can’t wait to hear it run.
I am my own worst enemy. I keep buying new projects and getting distracted...
I find myself patiently waiting for your next vids to come out. Good stuff man. Looking forward to more. 😎
Good stuff! Looking forward to the Thunderbird videos. 😎
Solid 😊 In the 70’s Ford made everyone with a TV an expert on the twin I-beam suspension. Put them in the sales lead and they never looked back. Love the short bed. Seemed like Chevy sold a few more of them through the 70’s. A rarity when trucks were more utilitarian. Didn’t catch in the video if you said this might be worthy of that 351? The last minute of that video gave me a panic attack.
The Cleveland is definitely a contender but requires a rear sump oil pan which would have to come out of a late 70's 351m/400 4wd truck to fit. I might go the easy route and source another 302 for now with longer term plans. Too many projects and nothing but time!
I’d follow up that vinegar bath with a baking soda and water bath to neutralize the acid effect. I honestly don’t think you used enough to cause any damage but I’ve lost BMX crank parts to vinegar during rust removal. That stuff will eat rust and continue eating until you stop it.
I'll do that. Didn't think about that. Might also help further with the smell.
Shockingly, I haven't found any wiring damage yet.
Not much worse than mice when it comes to the destruction they can do!
Ranchero is cleaning up great! 😎
Shop looking more organized?
Benefit of having two shops. I've started moving motorcycles to the other shop. So not really!
Give me thou which I desire!!! 😂
Stuff like this gets my adrenaline pumping! Am I the only sick one here? 😂 Nice saves man! I love ‘em both.
You are not alone. The guy who wanted the, 67 contacted me and we made a deal. I've been feeling sad about that impending loss and have started looking at another 65 with a v8.
Cool vehicle. They kept the falcon name alive on the Aussie utes right to the end in 2016.
As I get older, the utility of a vehicle seems more important than how racy it is!
