@kevindavis5420 She was 2-1/2 when we climbed. She is chocolate lab mix. I don’t exactly regret it, she needed a 15 minute break about 500 feet from the summit because the boulder hopping is very strenuous and she was pretty stressed. Three people taking turns passing her up on much of the last push for the summit, it was tiring for all involved. I recommend you get several 10-14 miles hikes in with your dog to get them in shape for it, I had boots on her about 25% of the time on the mountain and I think that + taking paw lube is a must. Makes the trip more enjoyable for them. If you take the short cut right after Gun Sight pass there will be ZERO water after that point. I carried 4 liters and had Maple carry two 16.oz bottles of water. I carried her pack once we took the saddle to Kings peak and the rest of the way down to camp. I also think camping at Dollar lake will make the trip more manageable for you and your dog. Weimaraner will be just fine if paws are adjusted to hiking and in proper shape, he will be very grateful for paw lube during and after summit day, it’s about 3-1/2 miles of boulders and it’s hard on their paws. Also remember your dog needs snacks on such a long hike as well. Thanks for watching!

The San Juan mountain range is one of my favorites! We actually just climbed Mt. Sneffels last week, she is an amazing peak. I’ll keep those camp spots in mind next time we are out there! Thank you!

Venice beach has several nice hotels near by. We stayed at the Marriott and were very happy with it. Just a short drive to the beach!
