Bravo! He did VERY well, years beyond the rest of the band in skills.
Encore! Standing ovation !!!
Thank you! Seamus is still singing in college. There will be a couple of "classical repertoire" performances in the next few weeks.
Cute guy. Nice voice.
Seamus was feeling a bit shy about replying to this comment :-)
Thank you for this great rendition! I am trying to learn this tune myself, and Seamus has provided a great example.
Thank you, Jared. Seamus' Dad here--Seamus is "on Tour" (4 day trip, one show. College life is grand, I guess :-) ) with the Cornell Hangovers at the moment. Stick with your efforts. Best wishes for your success!
Bravo Seamus. Stay at it. You have a future on the musical stage.
Thank you! This is Seamus' Dad. Unfortunately, Seamus found out after-the-fact that Cornell, his college, does not have an official musical theater program and that the student-run program is dormant. The vocal program in the Music Department has a great instructor, however: Jean Bernard Cerin. While concentrating on classical repertoire and opera, Mr. Cerin lets Seamus "sneak in" a theater song every now and then :-) What Do I Need With Love: ruclips.net/video/0gbLAR9Wr2w/видео.html
Beautifully done!
Thank you! This is Seamus' Dad. Unfortunately Cornell, Seamus' college, does not have a musical theater program. The vocal program focuses on classical repertoire, and his accapella group does mostly popular music. Still, he does sneak in the occasional stage song: What Do I Need With Love: ruclips.net/video/0gbLAR9Wr2w/видео.html
NICE
Thank you! This is Seamus' Dad. He loves musical theater, but Cornell does not have a musical theater program, unfortunately. He still sneaks in the occasional song, though: What Do I Need With Love: ruclips.net/video/0gbLAR9Wr2w/видео.html
such beautiful sounds...felt like I went to one of europe's cathedrals...
Fantastic. Clean, clear, expressive backgrounds, effective dynamic contrasts and a killer lead. Well done Seamus! -Mr. Goold.
THanks, Ken. It's always good to hear from the people who nurtured Seamus along to the way to where he is today--and kept things going during COVID. That was a huge accomplishment on your part. Sherry and I appreciated all of your efforts. Hard to believe this group of HFL kids graduated just 2 years ago! Rob
Nice to wake up to this! Loved thi one..more my style for the old folks high five

Fantastic! Congratulations everyone!
Thank you! The guys worked really hard on this one.
So beautifully sung & well acted. Sorry I'm so late in seeing this.
Thank you! This is Seamus' Dad. This performance was, literally, the first performance by our high school drama department after thwo years of COVID shutdowns (this was the old folks show/final dress rehearsal). The performers in this show had been shut down for two years because of COVID. No one, except for the teachers involved with putting on the show, knew what kind of talent the school had--just an ordinary, small public school in upstate New York. Even my wife and I didn't know how Seamus' voice had developed since his freshman year--there were very few live performances during COVID lockdowns. It brought tears to our eyes. Seamus is still singing in college, but his school does not have musical theater production department. Please check the LarsensSyndrome channel for his most recent performances. There should be a new one going online tomorrow night (3/26/2024)
@@LarsensSyndrome Thank you very much!
Way to go, Seamus!! Well done. What a beautiful voice you have. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you! This version was just coming out of COVID lockdowns. Seamus' voice teacher (Zoom lessons during COVID) found a church willing to let her small studio put on a show for friends and family. We (Seamus' Mom and Dad) hadn't herad him sing live for a year or more. It was a treat for us, too.
Can't get sound
HI, Aunt MoMo. We've tried it on four different devices and the sound seems to be working. Maybe try a different device?
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for your kind comment!
Oh My Gosh young man! You rocked it. You have a beautiful voice with a lovely tone and vibrato. I hope you are pursuing musical theatre, it wants you to follow.
Seamus' Dad here. Thank you for your kind comment. Unfortunately, Seamus' college has courses in Musical Theater but no Musical Theater program. He can cross register at Ithaca College where there is a great musical theater program, but the 3 miles between Cornell University and Ithaca College must be the longest 3 miles in the world. Even with good public transportation travel time is about an hour each way. That doesn't work with his academic schedule. Until we can solve the tranportation problem, it will be Glee Club and the Cornell Hangovers for the time being--both groups are pretty good.
@@LarsensSyndrome Heeeeeey Seamus's Dad! It was so nice of you to reply to me. I am sorry to hear that getting between the two colleges I'd such a daunting affair. Is he in private voice lessons? Taking dance classes at reputable dance studio? Beliiieve me that even if he doesn't aspire to dance or feel that he has the ability to do it, being able to move well on stage is a requirement even for non-dancers. I was primarily a singer in my youth but my deficient in dance was an obstacle. So while he may not be able to study the performing arts on a collegiate level other venue's of training are open to him. I don't mean to sound preachy, just speaking from a lifetime in music, theatre and dance. I don't know if he has real aspire to pursue theatre professional or not but there is a a non-collegiate academy in NYC that is quite well respected that only focuses on musical theatre that he could attend post graduation Here is the link.www.amda.edu/campuses/new-york?gclid=Cj0KCQjwib2mBhDWARIsAPZUn_kkRxF9OWBNXIZXU1op2GDqXeYWHcl2D2yKRRElRNFiBwG6VkLWY48aApT8EALw_wcB Also he might consider getting his masters in musical theatre. There are several in the country. Is he getting experience on stage in local productions? Ennyhoo I apologize for all this unsolicited input. I hope all is well in your universe.😊
Well done!
Thank you. Much appreciated!
You need a singing lesson, buddy. Several.
This is very well done.
Thank you for your kind comment!
A suggestion always go back and listen to the original. You have a wonderful gift, but could be a little more adventurous with the allowance of the swelling of the sound (like Lenard Weir, the original Freddie Einsford Hill was on Broadway) when he gets to "And Oh.." That is such a wonderful moment, and it takes guts to trust your voice to cresendo with such a glorious swell in your voice. Don't best your head over things like this, but try them out and who knows it can lead to much discovery and amazement.
Seamus’ Dad here. Thank you for your kind comments. This performance was part of a small, “family and friends-only” recital put on for 18-20 middle and high school students who had not had a chance to perform in front of a live audience for 18 months due to COVID restrictions. Lots of nerves on everyone’s part, including the accompanist (who played for each of the participants). Outside of his school chorus teacher and his voice teacher, no one (not even his mother and I) knew how Seamus’ voice developed during the COVID restrictions until he earned a part in his high school’s musical during his senior year. The musical had been cancelled the previous two years. Here is a sample: ruclips.net/video/buwB15eNjN4/видео.html (Bring Him Home) Seamus was fortunate to be admitted to Cornell University. He is finishing up his freshman year during which he has been singing with the Cornell Glee Club: ruclips.net/video/mN7dxYOpYkc/видео.html (Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomand And the Cornell Hangovers (an acapella group): ruclips.net/video/MW8eSs5RmPc/видео.html (Late Night Talking) Thanks again for listening, and for your comments.
Leonard Weir played Freddie in the original London (West End) production. The original Broadway Freddie was John Michael King.
@@oliverbrownlow5615 Thank you!
Who ever is playing piano should learn it is not a race! This young man has a marvelous instrument that he is not getting them mileage out of this brilliant song because of some second rate piano player. He has a wonderful gift, and I hope he continues to study and allow it to grow.
Seamus' Dad here. Thanks again. The accompanists in college are pretty good, but the venues are taking some getting used to. Some of the halls just swallow up any performer. Spring Will Be So Sad: ruclips.net/video/vRsZYT0Qx5E/видео.html
I agree. In general, the pianist plays at the rate the vocalist requests. We don't know the circumstances of this performance, but there could have been a time limit, which occurs in many competitions. The Broadway version of My Fair Lady has this song go on for triple the time of the version presented here. On televised competitions, the first performance rounds allow the vocalist only 90 seconds per song. As competitors get eliminated, the time available for each number increases. So I would guess that this is either rehearsal for a competition or an audition with a time limit.
@@susantescione8007 Thank you for your perceptive comment. While it was not a competition, there was a time limit on the venue, and all the performers were high school age or younger, so the accompanist set the tempo to meet the time limit. Although, if someone does not know the origin of the song, it is surprising how well it fits a pop/faster tempo 🙂
@@LarsensSyndrome Oh, I do know this is from My Fair Lady, a personal favorite of mine. I actually have the Broadway version on my playlist.
Beautiful voice - why at such a fast tempo?
Thank you for your comment! There was one accompanist for 18-20 singers, and most of them were singing "pop" songs, so.,..
The accompanist MUST follow the singer. Assert yourself! I'm a tenor soloist and have great collaborative artists!
@@simeonm1215 Thank you for your instructive comment! Seamus was a junior in high school when this performance took place. He is getting more assertive now that he is in college, and understanding better the roles of soloist and accompanist.
Such an amazing voice!
Thanks!
We really appreciate your comment!
This song should be sung by a young voice, not too polished ...
Great job my friend!!!🎉
Thank you! Cheers!
👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
THank you!

Thanks, Aunt DiDi!
Enjoy your rendition. May I suggest a little slower tempo. Get into a studio and record it again.
Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately time and money are tight here at the end of his senior year in high school. We will see what we can do. He did do a version more in keeping with the play: ruclips.net/video/0On3ZF1dx1Q/видео.html . And to show what a difference a year can make, here is Seamus in a recent high school musical: ruclips.net/video/buwB15eNjN4/видео.html .
@@LarsensSyndrome no need to justify, this video shows plenty of talent and effort. From a voice teacher, bravo.
The tempo is fine.
He is perfect
This is the normal tempo for the song.

what a wonderful voice and a beautiful song !!!! great job :)
Thank you! He loves to sing this song. We have our fingers crossed that he gets accepted to a college with a good music program :-)
@@LarsensSyndrome good luck to him, and make sure to tell him he is a fantastic singer and really does this song justice !!! :)
@@sardine56 The results are in, Seamus is attending Cornell University. And, he auditioned for and was accepted into the Cornell Glee Club, and the Cornell Hangovers. As far as male tenor/bass singing goes, those are the two best known groups on campus. So, we will be hearing from him, in some manner, for a couple of more years :-)
@@LarsensSyndrome wow, that’s absolutely fantastic !! i hope he has a wonderful time and continues singing for many many years :)
What a superb rendition. Especially the various endings. Great control.
Thank you! It really was just two good friends making music together.
WOW, I love this version, there are 2 other versions sung by Seamus, it seems to me that the tempo of this version is more appropriate to the song. His voice is pure pleasure. Great articulation, phrasing, pitch perfect (not quite sure about the Italian "cry"), but very very good.
Thank you! This was one of Seamus' audition pieces for the Rochester Philharmonic League's Young Artist Auditions competition. Sometimes the tempo changes when the audience is younger, expecting something more "contemporary" :-)
Nice voice, wish I had some of those curls.
😊 thank you
I'm still standing and clapping.....AMAZING!
What a sweet duet....something delightful for everyone else to hear! :)
