Fun car stuff.
MechTalk Podcast: Episode 2
Tough week but I love what I do, A jeep gladiator with a dumb problem, the dirtiest steering wheel I've ever seen, and a Kia forte that doesn't need a new transmission

25 Year Old Small Engine Teardown: Part 1
Gee the music really is boring and it also suck
😂😂
is it just me or do i hear click when you just start turning the wrench and it clicks back only once you let go of the tension... meaning you torqued way over the set torque ?
Yes, he is turning 90° the wrench. It is normal to adjust to torque and afterwards do xxx degree turns to the wrench according to spec
Worked perfect
You best sir 😂
Hey. Just thought id mention. People talk about putting a fuel pressure regulator after the fuel pump and before the carb. The weber carborator likes 2.5psi. Anymore can make it hard to adjust and run rich.
@@benbradshaw4991 thank you!
I have both 1987 and 1988 dodge raiders. Same motor. The 1988 dodge raider is black and only has 68,000 miles. Previous owner didnt have time to fix it 15 years ago and it rotted in a field. Now i have put completely new brakes and tires on it. The problem with it was a coolant leak within the engine. He put a new head gasket on it and said it didnt fix it. So i pulled the engine and i am sending it off for an entire rebuild this week. These G54B engines are tough everywhere but the culinder heads. Hopefully the block isnt cracked and it will be rebuilt. But if it cant be rebuilt then i am going to pull the running and newer g54b out of the 1987 red dodge raider. And ill put it in the black one. The red one from 1987 has 275,000 miles. Terrible brakes, interior, suspension, steering. But a new engine and transmission. The black one has a perfect interior, newer body, way lower miles on everything, only needs an engine.
I need to replace my small block due to a crack. I want to re use all the parts. Do you have any advise? Or gasket kit.
vw brm tdi crank sprocket removal tool
What is the socket? I’ve been looking for the name so I can buy it to do my timing
Kermatdi has a complete cylinder head for 950$, what’s your opinion on the head they’re offering.
I know it's a good company so it's probably worth it
Sounds like those lifters and valves are worn
@@RmsOlympic1913 everything on this is worn lolol
The supra also comes NA so what do you mean?
Where did you buy it and how much it cost you the set
@@Marvinbayani1979 Amazon and around $30
@@officialworstmechanicdo you have the complete link to type in it
This must be on the 2.0 liter
@@americanjuggalo71 yes it is
Im also rebuilding a tdi in my yard, block staying in but i have a donor motor out in front, mines an 04
Im looking at this same truck right now and I'm tempted to buy it. 1989 2wd with 4cyl engine. How does it hold to the road on the highway? Looks like it was wondering.
@@richardhayes7159 I ended up fixing the suspension on this one and it drove like a dream. Definitely worth buying
I do it 100 miles before oil change if your adding it to engine or one ounce per liter of gas so it has time to work/ mix in
@@amazingaces4389 that's a great idea
no the altezza has the beams engine not the 2j the2j came in the is300
I’ve always wanted to do this
Bro had a backyard. I think I'm gonna have to do it on the street😂
Low key kinda cool tho
TUTORIAL PLEASE!!😢
Oh dang I fixed this car a very long time ago. I hope this video shows enough it's pretty simple.
Whats wrong with them?
I wanna restore my 1989 mighty max my grandma left me but first I gotta start with my engine I’m pretty sure its all corroded ☹️
Hi. I have 1988 4X4 5spd Weber carb - before had start issue after 3day of no drive… I put carbole 42 (Amazon) electric fuel pump - now is great … I lower truck only for lilttle - have nice look…. parts in USA not many… get most part from online Philippines no problem 🤷🏻♂️
SMH
Double wishbone suspension buddy. Also it technically is an NA Supra engine. The 1998 and up NA Supras came with the same 2jzge vvti as the IS300. Granted most people in America assume the NA Supras only had Non vvti as we only got 1 year (1998) with the NA vvti 2jzge. While Japan got the Supra for several more years. And again yes all 1998 and up NA MKIV Supras had the 2jzge vvti.
It's actually not a Supra engine, it's an ARISTO/GS300 engine
@@804MRMAN 1998 and up NA Supras came with a 2jzge vvti same as the IS300
@@WoodrowsWheels My point is the 2jz ge, ge vvti, gte vvti all came from being in the Aristo first in 1993. So it's not a Supra engine, it's an Aristo engine!
@@804MRMAN again wrong. The first JZ engine was the 1jz and the first car Toyota sold with a JZ was the JZZ30 Soarer. And even the first Aristo with a JZ was not the 1993 but 1991. And the JZ came in the Supra in 1991 as well.
@WoodrowsWheels GOOFY WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A 2JZ, DON'T TRY TO MOVE THE GOAL POST!!!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣 That's so sad. Dude say you was wrong, and accept the correct information
...the mikuni carb has 5 bolts, 4 around the twin barrels, easy to identify, the 5th somewhere, the manual doesn't say nor shows whereabouts ... where is it, anybody knows or has a picture ? G54B engine 2.6L AT Mikuni 32-35DIDTA carb
Love tdi!❤
been looking at replacing the Mikuni with a Weber ... my state tho does not approve them ...because ... they have not been approved ... even if the Weber has better emissions & mileage ... how to go about this to approve the Weber ?
...is the smoke from actually carbon buildup, or is it the seafoam burning ? ... ie, does the engine smoke eventually dies off & then starts burning clean ?
It's from the carbon being burnt up from the seafoam cleaning!! It eventually stops smoking then runs clean!!
...my timing chain has a bit of slack, about 1/2" or so, on the driver's side ... passenger side is tight, the side where the tensioner is installed ...the chain, sprockets, all look good & shinny, no sign of damage as far as the eye can see ... should this be a concern ? G54B engine, 2.6L auto, gas ..
Chain stretch can happen over time. if there is that much slack it's time for a new chain my friend.
Hi, the part shown here is a vacuum pump for the brake system. This particular tdi. BRM doesn't use a high pressure pump. It has pump injectors. Each injector is its own pump. Otherwise nice job!
I must have not understood that when I read the manual. Thank you!!
Wow thats a crazy transformation, looks so good probably feel good too
thanks!! Yea it's pretty awesome. So much more comfortable
It's actually a multilink suspension with a standard control arm on top and multiple links on the bottom.
Nice socket. Horrible music choice.
Haha thanks just using what the algorithm wants

I bought a K&N with a heat shield for mine & put the Ram Air tube back inside and got longer hood hinge bolt screws and spacers to raise the back of the hood about a 1/2 inch which produces a cowl induction effect for under $20 instead of paying 💰$1,200 for a carbon fiber hood 💯 You gotta find a way to get rid of all that hot air or it’s gonna suck it (literally).
That’s pretty genius bro! 😎
Song link?
Good job champ🎉! This is my dream too
