    thx for the nice solve! wish I had seen this sooner. I really enjoy anti-knight Sudokus, There are a lot of patterns that you can find and use once you know them. They sometimes are pretty difficult though.

    15:16 for me. This is so much easier if you do set theory with rows 2/8 and cols 2/8 in one set, and boxes 1,3,7,9 in another. There are 10 total 789s which fit perfectly into each row/column. and the corners cannot be 1/2/3 making them a 4/5 pair.

    36:18. The way i did it was to look at the centre square in each of boxes 1, 3, 7 and 9. Once I realised that they could not be 1 (due to various cells either being the second cell in a thermo or a 21 or 24 cage that couldn't have a 1), that gave me a kind of 4 way x wing on 1s in columns 2 and 8 and rows 2 and 8. It put 1s in 4 places in each of boxes 1, 3, 7 and 9. Therefore 1 could not be in the bulb of any thermo. Same logic in the same squares for 2s, then 3s. Logic stopped at 4s as the 21 cages in columns 2 and 8 could be 984. In fact, they had to be to stop all of the bulbs needing to be 5s breaking the puzzle. Once I put the 984s into each cage it sort of flowed from there

      Thank you for the feedback and good wishes! I can probably transition the Very Easy Sudokus to something along those lines. Is there anything in particular that you'd prefer more thoroughly explained? Perhaps normal sudoku techniques or a clearer and more digestible explanation of how I arrive at my logic for the variation rules? Or something else?

    Thank you for the solve. The negative constraint is a bit too powerful and once you solved the middle boxes the rest is resolvable, which cuts the puzzle into two parts. You could have used the negative constraint even more often, but you did fine with regular Sudoku. And i don't know if you noticed, but the entire grid has roping, which was not intended. The negative constraint just forced it.

    Spoiler... What you need to realize is in row 2 and 8 AND in column 2 and 8, because of the cage 24 and 21, no 1, 2 nor 3 can go in these cage. That mean for the 4 corner box, 1, 2 and 3 are never in the corner or the center of the box. (they are in this row and coloum) Then, it imply the thermometer must be 45 on the bulb (all thermo) and the "x" (center of all thermo) become 56 Then it imply that both 21 cage become 489. From there everything fall apart. You can color these 2 row and 2 colum in 2 different color. And pencil mark col: 1237, row: 1234 First time i beat your time. 69 minutes. I waste a little bit of time trying to find a sum in relation of these 2 "extra region" (group theory)

    Thanks for the solve! Fun fact: This is solvable with only the german whispers and one of the low-hanging fruit. However, I didn't understand set theory that well back then and after trying for a while I decided to turn it into an easy puzzle.

    Frank, you would probably benefit from looking over the found numbers to check them against the penciled in numbers. I've noticed in several of your videos you get to a point where you have a found number that should have eliminated the penciled in number, but doesn't get noticed. In this video for instance at 13:26 you try to figure out where the 1 can go you don't find the correct placement until 15:16 almost two minutes later. Had you seen the 1 in (from left to right) Colum: 8, box: 6, cell: 8 I suspect you would have found the solution to the puzzle about a minute faster.

    Nice clean solving! Sometimes my titles relate to the puzzle, other times such as this I just picked something that sounded nice to me heh My favorite bit of this puzzle is that the mystery of 'does the long renban have a 4 or a 9?' persists until the very end of the solve 🙂 (Cheers from 99%Sneaky)

    This was part of an imposter series of puzzles wherein setters took on the identity of one of their peers to see if they could fool the rest. This puzzle was set by LMDemasi (a sometimes setter and an absolutely brilliant solver) who succeeded in fooling us all that this was, in fact, ThePedallingPianist. Most of the puzzles have been published but haphazardly, so it can be hard to know which puzzles came from this particular event. If you can get your hands on the full pack though, you won't be disappointed; some of the best sudoku of the year, maybe some of the best period.

    Thanks for solving this! This was for an indexing prompt, and I thought it would be a cool way to put a twist on x sums and sandwiches by having the first two cells index the crusts of the sandwich. It was unfortunate about the restart, but kudos to you for sticking with it!

    Might I suggest only using one set of colors in the beginning and then doing palindrome sudoku with 18 given colors from there? snider notation works even for colors hahahaha. If you wish to label the others, it's best to use central or corner pencil marked letters, which you can eventually replace with your original colors.

    • @FrankPuzzles

    You comment that you don't know why there is a celebration of a 3 in the corner. The confetti comes because on Cracking the Cryptic, Simon Anthony starts singing "That's 3 in the corner, that's 3 in the spotlight, losing its religion" whenever they occur.

    • @FrankPuzzles
      @FrankPuzzles 6 дней назад

      Sorry. I'm not sure where I said in the video that I don't know why there's a celebration of 3 in the corner. I watched through the video and didn't see it. If you could point me to when in the video I say this, I would greatly appreciate it. I DO know about the confetti coming from Simon celebrating the 3 in the corner with the REM song, and always enjoyed it when he sang about it. So, if I did say something along those lines, I'd like to post some clarification in my description at least so that others wouldn't be lead astray by something I said. Thank you!
