How to supervise postgraduate students in ethical use of generative artificial intelligence
Generative AI is here to stay. Our higher degree students need guidance on how to engage with it. In this video I'll offer some strategies and examples of how to go about this. I welcome comments from other HDR supervisors.
Here's the paper I mention in the video:
Caillaud, E., & Skec, S. (2024). SUPERVISION OF DESIGN PHD STUDENTS IN AN ERA OF GENERATIVE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. In DS 131: Proceedings of the International Conference on Engineering and Product Design Education (E&PDE 2024) (pp. 420-425).
Cheers

Scenarios to practice effective communication with postgraduate students
Просмотров 875 месяцев назад
Eight scenarios included. I made this resource so that supervisors of postgraduate students can see examples of communication with students via an online platform. Some of these examples offer options on effective communication, others are not effective - or may not strengthen a positive relationship with students. I use closed feedback communication, curious questions, 'I wonder', timeline sig...

Six year old with ketotic hypoglycemia gets gastro virus - lived experience
Просмотров 1328 месяцев назад
In this video I share issues that parents and children experience while living with ketotic hypoglycemia. I was surprised as a parent that I could not find youtube videos from other parents or children to guide me about what to expect, things to look for, troubleshooting, or tips to get through viral episodes. So I made this video to help others who are facing similar such situations. My six ye...
Perplexity and Elicit - How to use generative artificial intelligence in your literature review
Просмотров 52510 месяцев назад
In this film I'll explore Perplexity versus Elicit for identifying research. I'll demonstrate the tools. USER FRIENDLY: Perplexity AI and Elicit excellent. ACCURACY: Perplexity AI is pretty good but not great at identifying ALL of the right/best/most cited literature. Elicit is not as reliable as Perplexity. ARTICLE SUMMARIES: Perplexity AI is good. Elicit is good. They both make mistakes. They...
How to conduct thematic analysis: qualitative research method
Просмотров 7010 месяцев назад
Thematic analysis is the most commonly used qualitative research approach in medicine and health sciences. I recommend Braun and Clarke's approach plus I suggest researchers look for a central underpinning theme through which the others can be understood. I'd be interested to know in the comments what you think about proposed step 5.5. Thanks folks
A systematic review of critical reflection and insight in postgraduate medical education.
Просмотров 42Год назад
Can you teach insight? This systematic literature review of 75 texts suggests you can teach someone to reflect, and you can possibly achieve three states of reflection. But we did not find evidence that you can teach someone insight. Check out the paper: Price N, Jowsey T, Weller J. Reflecting on insight and insights into reflection: a systematic review of insight and reflection in post graduat...
How to promote student learning in a lecture: tips and tricks
Просмотров 36Год назад
In this video I'll provide a bunch of approaches you can draw on to maximise student learning. They can be applied to any tertiary education subject material. I'm not going to bore you with all the literature supporting these tricks (if you want to know that just ask generative AI). Instead, I'll cut to the proverbial chase: what works and how to do it. Importantly, these tips do not require ad...

Cultural Safety/Competency Simulation Scenario
Просмотров 85Год назад
This short film concerns a conversation between a clinical supervisor (female) and clinical student (male). It is meant as a resource to spark conversation about how we can assess cultural safety/competency. This is an example of poor cultural competency by the supervisor. Why is it poor? - The supervisor says that the patient is unlikely to understand the terms used in the consent form, so to ...

How to identify and avoid predatory journals. www.youtube.com/@TanishaJowsey77 Predatory journals are in the thousands. In this video I'll share a true story of how I got scammed and what I've learned to look out for when it comes to predatory journals. I'll also do a shout out to Andy Stapleton re the fake author saga and I'll encourage you - dear scientific scholar - to keep fighting the good...

SciSpace Vs. Perplexity Vs. Research Rabbit Vs. Connected Papers Vs. Litmaps for research

Which generative AI do scientists use? Scientists are suddenly confronted with myriad open access AI tools. Which ones should we focus our attention on when it comes to finding relevant literature? SOLID: I recommend Perplexity AI and Connected Papers and SciSpace. OKAY: I found Research Rabbit and Litmaps a bit frustrating in terms of navigation and reliability. WASTE OF TIME: Chat-GPT 3.5 was...

How long is this test conducted ? Hours or days?
Thank you so mich
I found this video by Searching up how to say turtle lol ❤❤❤
Very good video and insights. Actually, I am developing a paper with narrative review but reviewers are not convinced. What should be highlighted to strengthen the paper knowing that it is mainly about summarizing 20 years of literature, and expanding future research. Should I strengthen the critical lens (or create one), or develop more the scope (to whom we address the research), or something else. Thank you for your feedback and expertise
I love your vids maybe try to post more in 2024?!!❤😂😊🎉
Do you have a link to the slides you used by any chance?
Is she dipping her electrodes in the 10-20 container?! Nooooooo
It sounds like you've spotted something that could have been done better. I have no means of providing this feedback directly to the nurse. However, given that many parents watch this video to learn what to expect, I wonder if you would like to explain in plain language the issue and offer parents some useful curious questions that we could ask clinicians to be reassured that they are undertaking the procedure correctly? Thanks
Good afternoon, thank you for uploading a video. I still have a daughter who is already 4 years old. The problem she has is a sleep disorder. She stays asleep super late. Here the doctor tells us that she has to stay connected to the cables all night. I hope to do a I play with threads, it is a difficult experience, I think for both parents and children who have to take that test, I will show your video to my daughter and show her how a child a year younger than her also took that test, I hope your son is better at this point z
Wow! This is great. Very precise and useful. Thank you.
You're very welcome!
Regarding the use of different stickers for different octaves, that is confusing and distracting. It also is not aesthetic. It's just as easy to look at the size of the tongue. The bigger the tongue the lower the notes. The smaller the tongue the higher the note Play you are right the first time. It is an octave. Not a note. It is the same note, different octaves!
found this whilst doing my masters... Love your attitude and communication style! I dont enjoy analytical research - but i love how youve taught this subject! thank you ive giggled all the way through this
Awesome, thank you!
This is a terrific clip. A wonderful way to learn NZSL you are such an animated teacher! Would love to see more of your videos!
This is great Tanisha thank you :) I love how you present it with a real no nonsense approach and you have a great style of approach with little interjections here and there . Off to investigate the rest of your channel for more gems thank you so much 💛💛☺
Thank you my 3 year old goes may 6th for his EEG hoping for answers 🙏
warmest wishes for a healthy journey ahead
Thanks Tanisha, I needed to find this!
Thank you for sharing the information. Good job.
deaf me learn where work job New zealand ?what work ?
hi folks, since making this film I've realised two things: I should have specified that Chat-GPT 3.5 isn't great at providing references to literature but 4.0 is. And I've done a fair bit of further testing of Elicit - it has let me down too many times to have confidence that it will bring up the right literature. Google Scholar does a better job. Cheers.
Very helpful. Thank you
I HVE BEEN THRU HELL IN LIFE BEING IN SPECIAL EDUCATION BECAUSE OF A LEARNING DISABILITY AND BECAXUE OF HAVING HUNDREDS OF EEG TESTS ALL MY LIFE.

Thanks Katie5269, yes use your dominant hand. So if you are right handed, use your right hand to do the work.

You're welcome 😊
Tanisha, thank you for your sharing! It's truly incredible to witness the abundance of innovative tools already available. However, the rapid progress in the field of AI can also be overwhelming, and challenging to keep pace with. Good thing we have people like you to test them out and tell us what works best :P
you're very welcome. Thanks for engaging.
Thnx for posting tomrrow i take my son for test he has seizures im so worry about results just praying .
Wishing you a healthy journey
We’re you able to get answers ?
yes thank you, this test was worthwhile. It was not easy getting him to sleep but the test gave us important answers and we are grateful.
whoa this is 500 NZ dollars? that's a lot! I thought most of the Chinese drums go for about $100-150 USD, it's like 2x or 3x in NZ :( I used to live in Australia and I also remember goods coming to Australia being a lot more than elsewhere ...
with the pandemic, everything is expensive. But the drum makes me happy. It promotes wellbeing, hence worth it.
@@TanishaJowsey77 oh I agree I have them too and I love playing them!
Whoa 500.00 exclamation point I just bought the same drum today for $60!! Nice big drum, 15 notes beautiful emerald green, decorative macrame around the outside. Nice carrying case and beautiful mallets. Where are you buying this from
This is really helpful, Tanisha! Nice work.
You have nice voice.
Kill that thing💀💀💀
Excellent.... Well done.
Why was an eeg done? What do they check for
I'm using a new software option for editing this film - Screencastomatic, and this is my first time using that software to add background music. Now that I've uploaded the film I suspect the music is a bit loud/distracting at points. Apologies. Nobody panic, I'll get better at this.
im pretty sure thats an weta shell
Nope, I helped him climb on there. It's alive. Little cutie
Thank you. I love the way you explained right to the point.I just have my first drum.I been watch so many videos to understand this dots:).I'm so glad I find you tutorial.Awsom! Thank you
