My late wife was given a DUI in Mount Pleasant Iowa following a mild stroke causing her to drive into and back out of a ditch, she blew 0 on the meter but was given a DUI because she had a small amount of marijuana in her purse, she was never tested for THC. The officer also classified a military can opener that was in her purse as drug paraphernalia. She later died of subsequent strokes, and I firmly believe that the day she spent in jail contributed to her later death. I was lied to by a deputy when I called asking if they knew where my wife was, she was in a cell and they told me they didn't know anything about her. This place was my childhood. I was born in 1980 and I remember coming to Westland almost every Saturday to play games at Aladdin's Castle and eat at Diamond Dave's. I moved out of Burlington in 1996. I can't believe it's all gone.

At the begining next to the old Sears car repair was a Bishops Buffet. Went there with the grandparents and family back in the 70's and 80's. Think it closed in the late 80's. Was great food. My mom lives in Cedar Falls and I get back there about every other month. I used to shop at CrossRoads for Xmas gifts and things until the Sears closed. It's probably been 7/8 years since I was in the mall. Brings back a lot of memories. We lived about 50 miles west of Waterloo when I grew up and a trip to "the city" was a big deal. The place would be packed on weekends and durning the summer. GIRLS! Going to movie dates at the CrossRoads theaters, Diamond Daves food and beer. Scheels sporting goods. Daltons Books. Musicland. Team electronics. Dad bought tires for his Oldsmobile at Sears once because they had a great deal on Uniroyal tires. Heard my first CD 40 years ago at Team electornics (1984 Van Halen). In a way it's just Karma coming around. Downtown Waterloo was virbrant and thriving until CrossRoads and College Square mall in Cedar Falls opened up. By 1980 downtown Waterloo and Cedar Falls were ghost towns. Now the city centers are making a small comeback, and of course on line retail is turning everything on it's head. Still sad to see a place where lots of memories were made end up like this.

I live in Waterloo, I was in this mall today July 14th, 2024. Opened at noon for mall walkers. The only tenants left: US Cellular, Bath and Body Works, pizza place (closed on Sundays) and a Asian restaurant restaurant that also appears to be closed on Sundays. The AC wasn't working working so Bath/Body was closed due to high Temps. I'm sure when the lease expires I doubt they will renew. I don't know maybe the military recruiters are still there. The restaurant at 7:20 was a Diamond Dave's. I do not recall when they closed. But it was long ago.

Reduce the red tape, regulation and encourage businesses and investors to come to your town. Abandon the scourge that is Euclidian Zoning. Adopt Bitcoin as a City treasury asset and encourage Bitcoin mining. Its so frustrating seeing America collapse because of the incompetence of city councils who sit on their high horses and wonder why no one wants to live in their towns. Great and simple video. Thank you for showing this. Id like to see more of Keokuk and what was once a great city with GREAT POTENTIAL today. Mixed use zoning should be the default, NOT the exception. Cities grow organically by people and should be people centric rather than car centric. Strong Towns.

I miss that place in the 90's keokuk was the best from 92,97 the mall was a cool place to skateboard, this mall sold vision street wear.

I bought stuff at that mall when I went to Hawkeye community college to become a truck driver years ago

I used to live in Cedar Falls and Waterloo Iowa back in the 90s. It was a very busy mall. Both this one and College Sware mall in Cadar Falls. Now I'm saddened to see this.

at 14:06 this space used to be a wonderful arcade + black light arcade course. they had an awesome collection of old stuff that I loved, but can't find any pictures from when the arcade was open. Tragic loss to history.

that jewelry store was called Riddles and the one right across was kay jewelers and it was JcPenney on the other end of the mall from yonkers im from burlington I now reside somewhere else for many years now and seeing this im like wow to remember when the mall had so much life to now its like wow great video

The end of the building at around 0:32 I think was a Bishop’s Buffet when the mall opened. Went there a lot with my Grandma and cousin in the 70s.

Crossroads mall was busytoday they turned the old kays ans buckle into new stores and there were a decent nunber of cars there it was like the mall was new again If for just a moment

I always wondered what would happen if the satellite system in space started smashing into each other and making everything go offline for many years and space flight would be deemed to unsafe for use if all of a sudden their would be a rush to do things the old fashioned way. And be a need for malls again 👀

People are lazy asses to visiting the malls in the USA
