Advanced Beginner Ukulele - Lesson 30 - Dirty Old Town - The Pogues
Hello music makers, here is a great song made famous by the Pogues that uses those more challenging Chords (Em and Bm) so you gain proficiency with them. I forgot to mention in the video that though the song is in the Key of G it doesn't end on G so its one of those exceptions to the rule in that you could not find the Key from the last chord of the song. This also gives it that interesting flavour. Chart linked below. #beginnerukulele #ukuleleforbeginners #ukulelelessons

      Thanks for watching, glad you like the video. Regarding the song, I personally like it, however some people can be offended by a song if they relate it to organized religion and the unfortunate acts done by it, those who have been hurt by it, understandably, yes that is sad :( and I wouldn't want anyone to feel put off playing by lack of sensitivity to that unfortunate reality which is why I address it.

      The great thing about becoming a musician is that the time you invest to learn to play is guaranteed to give positive results, unlike some other "investments", this time next year this song will be considered easy if you play consistently and even with breaks when life happens. Slow and steady, learning the basics is the hardest part, the rest is repetition of that.

    why is it that the two middle strings look thicker than the top most one? is it normal for uke?

    • @ukecandoit7505
      @ukecandoit7505 Месяц назад

      The thickness of the strings makes them be tuneable to the particular notes ie the C string is thicker so it will vibrate to create that pitch. The thinner strings are higher in pitch. Yes it is normal and is like that on other stringed instruments, its science :)

      Glad to help! People love to sing but adding actual lyrics in is too much sometimes so this option can be very helpful and satisfying! Reading is a well- honed skill and will take over when paper put in front of people. I try to get them to not look at the paper once they know the chord progression etc. that can also be a good way to remove obstacles to new skills.

    • @ukecandoit7505
      @ukecandoit7505 6 месяцев назад

      You are very welcome. It can be confusing of course for new players to understand the beats per chord and they often are not shown on many song charts. It helps with this to play songs you know and use your ear (most people have been listening to music all their lives and know more than they realize as such to what is right musically) to listen to the melody when singing, as melody must fit in with the chords or it sounds off. The melody notes must fit the chord being played or it sounds discordant, which most people can hear. Learning to count the bars is a great way to add to skills. I will do a video on this subject!
