My fan comes on, but my lights don't work.

This is lovely! I wonder if I can replace the functionality of the remote control with Z-Wave dimmers? Is the fan speed independent so that it can be controlled by an external speed controller?

So….check the remote that comes with the fan. Ours didn’t have a battery and it’s a small 23A 12v battery. We had to do to the store to get one. The fan will not function without it. The light and the fan power thru the fan wire. The light (red) we had to cap off. I asked the company why they would only allow the fan to be control via the remote and not provide a battery? Argh!!!

Small detail: you have to connect the wires coming out of the ceiling electrical box to the fan's remote wires. That was done in the final step but not shown before installing the fan into the ceiling mount and the shroud was put over the wiring.

Where do the random wires come from?
