Avoid sleazy mechanical CVTs. Toyota hybrid synergy drive hybrids use a planetary gearset. Very reliable. Ford Model T uses planetary gearsets. Sleazy mechanical CVTs use friction. Planetary gearset avoids friction.

Folks change the fkn fluid every 30k and learn how to drive them properly and you will find that almost all cvts will last over 200k.

At least Hyundai\Kia has a very good warranty. Real mechanic can rebuild them. Not just replace them which then is arm leg😂😂

The problem this shop is having is the fact that he keeps buying used junkyard transmissions, instead of buying a solid new transmission from the manufacturer. Instead of a one year, and a prayer warranty, they would get 5 years & 50000 mile warranty and a solid transmission for the customer. Also, a lot of transmission failure's are due to customer driving habits, and lack of maintenance.

The only cvt i trust is the ecvt from toyota. I'm not sure what's so special about them since they also use a slipping mechanism but they're bullet proof. But thanks for the heads up man, always good to warn the consumers

They need to be moved to a drier climate. They need to relocate those cars from the humidity if they aren’t being used. It’ll be better for the longevity before the sale. Then move them out of a state that doesn’t have the mindset for EV’s quite yet. Now not the whole state shares that sentiment I understand. I would just say that it’s the Yankees that are moving down there that are the target market. That’s not prejudice, that’s an opinion based on my experience being born and raised in Florida. They like their trucks, & fast cars but gas vehicles. Also the charging stations aren’t as reliable when it comes to accessible locations for range. It’s a lifestyle thing. They just won’t do it for a majority of people down there. Now Fort Lauderdale, and the southeast coast they work for sure. Southwest and Central Florida probably not going to work. Them resnecks can’t go mudding in a model S, nor would they want to be seen in one. I’d go as far to say they wouldn’t even have one as a grocery getter even if it cost $10k. Buuuuut Now living in Utah, I’ll take one of those off their hands on the cheap. I’d prefer the model y instead, or the cyber truck.
