Great reaction! I recommend part 1 of this Guns n Roses trilogy 'Don't Cry' and part 3 'Estranged.' Guns n Roses were monsters of the rock scene from 1997 to around 1995ish. Lots of great music.

The "My Chains Are Gone" portion was written to add to the original hymn for a movie of the same name, concerning the fight for abolition in the UK in the 19th century. Kirstin's name has a little saying that goes with it to help remember how to pronounce it - and that it's Kirstin, not Kristin or Kristine or anything else, as it's a pet peeve of Kirstin when people mispronounce her name. "Kirstie like thirsty; I'm thirsty for Kirstie Kirstie is short for Kirstin; I'm thirstin' for Kirstin"

The “instrument” you were hearing was a drone hum created by Kirstie and Kevin. No instruments were harmed in the making of this video.😂

I believe that Christopher Dwayne "Chris" Tomlin and Louie Giglio updated "Amazing Grace" to this version. Better in my opinion and of course PTX killed it.

Welcome back to PTX. The "instrument" you thought of is the ole Scottish Bagpipes. Except you later remember that Pentatonix accapella music seldom uses instruments and if used, it is predominantly displayed. It was Kevin and Kirstin that produced the sound of Bagpipes. Kirstin (@Kirstin is her Social Media) was always strict about the pronunciation of her name because in school, every teacher would try 100 variations before they got it correct. Now, it is less important as her focus is on her daughter. You said that it has been a while since you reacted to PTX. 4 are now married (all 5 members are at each others ceremonies and on RUclips). There is also an abundance of baby girls now. Their families join them on tour. Also, they put out an entire album during the pandemic lockdown. They don't have to be in the same recording studio, let alone the same city to produce quality music. Their song, "Home" has almost every song with that word. You also get to see their home environment. Kevin's surprise singing at the end is a bonus for all of us. He also sings in Mary, Did You Know, Imagine and The Prayer. He is musical and magical all the time. Kevin also has an arrangement of "O Come All Ye Faithfull" with African vibe to honor his parents. Good luck and have fun.

There was a very popular recording of this hymn, decades ago, done just by 5bagpipes. The "hummmmmm" is meant to recreate the droan of the bagpipes. I love Mitch's various ranges, but love to hear his lower range because he uses it so rarely.

Mitch is and always has been my favorite. Not that i dont adore the others but there is something about Mitch. And I am not like many who thinks that it's wrong or being disloyal to pick a favorite. It's kind of human nature to have somebody that you identify with more because we're all different. Clearly if there's one thing this group personifies it's okay to be different. Mitch's voice is so incredibly different from anything else. It's just almost perfect. It usually startles people every time. That is the Mitch slap.

Great reaction. The portion of the song that is called My Chains Are Gone was added to Amazing Grace some time ago, and not by PTX, and it's just one verse that gets repeated. Kevin is the beatboxer who sang at the very end. The first singer was Matt Sallee the bass , then Scott Hoying, baritone, then came Mitch Grassi, countertenor, after him was Kirstie (Kirstin) Maldonado and finally Kevin Olusola. The hum at the beginning is not and actual instrument, but provided vocally, provided by possibly Kevin and Kirstie, since they don't have solos at this point.

It's known by most people and other musical artists as the BEST love song ever written. It's beautiful. George Harrison wrote this. Pauls bass playing on this is amazing. There's no such thing as a "bad" Beatles song. They're Gods. And ya, you have to be very careful with the Beatles songs AND anything by the Eagles. They're extremely touchy and VERY serious about the copy write laws on their music. I don't mind you pausing to make a comment, that's why I chose a reaction video instead of just going and listening to the song. Just don't do it every five seconds like some reaction people out there. You end up missing pieces and details about the song.
