Hi, I'm Susan. Thanks for dropping by Organized 31. I believe life is better when organized. Maybe I feel this way because I've moved into and organized 25+ houses in 12 states and 3 foreign countries. My active duty husband, 3 children, dog and leopard gecko are always up for another move and another adventure.

Thanks you for sharing these ideas. I’m trying to organize and your color coding ideas are great.
I'm glad that you find them helpful. Happy organizing!
Careful with getting rid of boxes .. i've donated hundreds of boxes to the recycle center .. now that i'm unexpectedly about to move i had to go out and buy a bunch! 🥴
Video goes by much too fast to be able to read the words and look at the pictures. 😢

Your hands are in the way at the very beginning.
It's difficult to hold the ribbons and also keep hands out of the way. You may find the photos in the blog post helpful because the hands are held out of the way for the still photos.
How wide is this usually?
An inch to an inch and a half. It all depends on the width of the ribbon you use and how tightly you weave the ribbons.
This video is terrible. If we want to watch her hand and finger it’s a hot video. But we can’t see what you saying to do. And the first step is “do this”. Huh
I'm sorry that it wasn't helpful for you. You may find the still photos in the blog post where I can hold my hands out of the way better helpful.
You have to be more specific on how to do the nots!!!😡😡😡😡
I apologize. You may find the photos in the blog post help show the knot making better.
I’ve tried watching you for 30 minutes. Did you watch this ? And didn’t realize your HANDS are covering the project! Later! No good.
It's difficult to hold the ribbons while braiding and keep hands out of the way. There are photos in the blog post listed above. You may find the photos more helpful because I could keep my hands more to the side in a still photo
How wide is the end product?
It's an inch to an inch and a quarter wide, but that will vary depending on the size ribbon you use and how tightly you braid the ribbons.
I am packing too. I am having such a hard time with sentamental items. Items I just have, dont really use or I see them on a shelf. How do I decide? How do I part?
First let's acknowledge that sentimental items are tough. You're not alone in this struggle. Some tips are: take a photo and create a photo book of items, keep one or two from a collection, repurpose sentimental items like using a teacup to organize jewelry or turn t-shirts into a quilt, and find a place to donate them where someone will love them as much as you do. This video of mine will help walk you through handling sentimental items - ruclips.net/video/MQZc8_nERYE/видео.htmlfeature=shared . And feel free to email me directly with any questions.
Thank you so much! You explained the steps so well.
Can you show how to add a money pouch/holder to the lei and adding 2024 to it? Graduation coming and trying to figure how to do a white and maroon double ribbon lei that has 2024 on it with a money pouch.
You can add a money pouch and a 2024 tag by tying them with the bow. You can also weave them in a bit lower down and into the lei. Weave the ribbon attached to the pouch or tag through the woven parts of the ribbon lei and tie in the back. Just double check that the money pouch is supported by the lei and doesn't pull it down too much. Happy graduation lei making!
considering literally *EVERY OTHER DIY* out there, this is likely the only good one
lol, thank you, Murder Drone Addict!
I just bought my first! I’m hoping it works
I think you'll become addicted to it! Feel free to email me if you have any questions. I'll do my best to help out.
I like the cardboard insert for making a cup shelf, thanks!!
Have a good move!
Great tutorial for a three stranded lei that I was looking for! Thank you so much!
I'm so glad you found it helpful. Happy lei making!
Paper grocery bags are EXCELLENT for cushioning valuables. Tear bags into large pieces & crumple into balls. Then use them to cradle glasses, vases, etc.
Thanks for sharing this great tip!
Thank you for this! I have so many paper bags that I've saved and haven't used.
Asking a personal question: can anyone help with the.. best process to move? Especially for adhd, I stare at organizational charts, but when I start packing, I’m in every room half packing multiple boxes, like a chicken with it’s head cut off 😂 no matter how hard I try to stick to one area/ certain items for one box
Have you tried body doubling? (Having someone there to help you stay focused).
I feel like this too. Then I try to justify it by telling myself I'm still getting things done/packed. But I'm struggling. I wish you luck you and I can do this. We have to. Even just get it in a box and move it. Lol.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉

Put old towels at the bottom
I'm moving literally in 5 days. To my new house im 17 almost 18 and i honestly am excited but nervous.
That's very exciting! Just think, next week you'll be established in your new place and will have a list of moving tips of your own! Wishing you a wonderful move and happy new home. 😀
Aw thank you so much.
O
Excellent idea .
I like your folding technique
Oh how nice ! Did you get a discount?
I was gifted the bakeware to try. I thoroughly enjoy the baking pans and the storage!
lol we have to move like every 1 or 2 years due to job and i am watching after like 20 years of packing randomly
I always remind clients that the stuff will leave your current house one way or another. 😆 The question is how you want it to be moved. Hope this is move goes smoothly and is stress-free!
The music choice for such a needed topic is aggravating; some calm orchestra instrumental motivates
Point taken. Next one I'll look for calming music. :)
I dunno. I liked the music 🤷🏼♀️
Thank you, @@thelexinator 💃
Here if u already did this before 👇
Would you please post a video of the bow making? Thanks
I wrap ribbon around something, like a cell phone or deck of cards, that is 4 - 6 inches long, depending on how wide you want the bow. I wrap the ribbon 8 - 20 times depending on the ribbon and how full you want the bow. I hope that helps.
This is clever, but I don't watch TV. My couch potato activities are knitting, playing the piano, reading, baking bread, etc. I'll have to find a different method for those tasks I'm procrastinating on! 😁
Listening to a podcast, music or talking on the phone to a friend works great also. 😀
Practical!
Hi! How many yards do you need for this?
8 - 10 yards of each color for 1/4 inch wide ribbon. Less for shorter graduate and more for taller graduate. Have fun!
Thank you so much for this video ! Took me about 7 tries to undo and redo because I kept forgetting which side I had done but I started using binding clips and that helped. Turned out amazing!
I'm so glad you're happy with your resulting lei! The next one will be easier. :)
Where do you connect the 2 sets? Can’t see through your hands
I have wished for see through hands so many times since doing these tutorials! The blog post has photos that may help see the steps better. organized31.com/double-braided-ribbon-lei-instructions/
Paper the bottom of the box before putting any glass wear in the box then pack cups upside down.
or put a blanket at the bottom
Or clothing, like sweaters or jeans😊 Also, for anyone moving out of their parent’s for the first time; place your cups in the cupboard upside down too! Then that’s the only spot they gather dust 😊 (You wouldn’t guess how many houses I’ve been to that don’t?)
@@ScottyFang .. using clothing to cushion breakables is tricky .. if the breakables do happen to break or shatter, then you've got a mess of glass shards in the fabric, making pretty much necessary trashing the clothes.
I wish i could send you a picture
Ok so the way you explain it doesn’t stay together. You said work with ribbons on same tot but it stays separate. So i imagine you use different ‘tot’ on other loop so it can combine. Please explain.
Hi, Theresa, It's hard to know where the miscommunication is. The images in the post linked above may help. Otherwise, you can send me an email with a photo and I can help that way. If you'd like to email me, you can find my address in the about tab on the blog. I've helped out ribbon lei makers via email. :)
The filing tip is great! Thanks!
This is something missing at 7:03. I've done this 4x and my outer color is not on the outer and it is mixed within thr inner color.
It's the same steps as before and after the cut. If you'd like to email me, you can and we'll figure it out. You can find the email address on the blog under About and then Work with Me.
@@organized31 Thank you so much for helping me. I will email you.
Clever!!!!!
❤
I can not figure out how the two different pairs connect other than by me holding down on table. can you help?
Hi, Carrie. If you have the weight of the ribbons pulling down on the loops, it can pull them off the table. I place the rolls of ribbon on the table and then just pull out enough ribbon to braid until I need to pull more out. Does that answer your question?
👍
