Corey's Whitetail Woods
Добавлен 11 ноя 2019
Hi, my name is Corey, welcome to my channel! You will see reviews on products I've used and wild game recipes. Although, I'm fond of all types of hunting and outdoor adventures, I especially have a passion for hunting Whitetail deer. But the best kind of adventure is experiencing God's Creation with family and friends.

Training My Dog Oreo To Track Wounded Deer
Просмотров 423 месяца назад
We got Oreo last Christmas. He's a mini Berna doodle, not necessarily a tracking dog. However, we notice he just seems to be more interested in smelling everything a little more than other dogs I've seen, if this is even possible. Since I hunt, I figured what the heck. I could use his ability sometimes. This worked out pretty good and I was pleased with the results. Scripture Verse of the Day G...

What bolts are you using I just paid $200 for a new wicked ridge Blackhawk 360 for my wife to use early antelope and elk
@@mikeodonnell7350 10 point recommends only using wicked ridge bolts. But you should be fine using another brand as long as they are properly seated on the string. I used a Barnett once and the knock was turned the wrong way so it was essentially a dry fire and I snapped my string. The repair cost me almost 200 bucks.
Way to go !! Extra exciting harvesting them at ground level with a bow. That was a nice buck and congrats on a beautiful noontime doe.
@@campbenny thank you! I appreciate you watching!
My model 60 prefers a hotter round
You mean with more powder then the long rifle rounds that I'm using?
Congrats, Corey! From the ground is impressive. 👍
Thank you Matt!
What an amazing family vacation, Corey! I still think back (often) to memories from when I was around 8-10 years old from a 3-week vacation we took from Michigan to Washington. Your kids will do the same after this. 😊 The only difference is that we were in a wood-paneled station wagon! 🤣🤣
Wow, that's awesome! The classic old station wagon family vacation!
Wow, what a great place and great deer camp for making great memories! Congrats to everyone!
@@madhuntsadventures yeah, it sure is. My boys are already looking forward to going back next year. Thanks for watching Matt!
I can just see one of your neighbors watching you out the window with blood and a bone as he asks his wife to call 911. 😂😂
@@madhuntsadventures yeah, I don't know what my neighbors must think of me sometime lol! They probably think I should live out in the country instead of a neighborhood. But what can I say, my wife likes it here.
Wow you're only a few days in and already experiencing the joys of breakdowns and RV life! 😂 You guys are making the best of it and have a great attitude and that is what it is all about. 😊
@@madhuntsadventures true, however there was a lot more frustration off camera lol. We had no regrets though for taking this trip. I still have to finish the rest of the videos!
What a great adventure for your family! How awesome!
@@madhuntsadventuresyeah, it was an adventure of a lifetime for sure!
Nice job!! Heck of a hunt from off the ground👍. That looked like a nice buck. Congratulations on a nice doe great shot
Thanks so much! Yeah it was a fun hunt. I think I'm going to try that more often. I hear your scent is more confined on the ground. My wind was blowing right to where those deer were coming from and they apparently didn't smell me!
Such an impressive shot! Hunting on public land with a bow takes skill and patience, and you nailed it. Thanks for sharing this amazing experience with us-truly inspiring! 🏹🌲

I don't sell crossbows. I was only reviewing it. I would think Amazon would deliver to Thailand. Here is an Amazon link for the same crossbow I have. a.co/d/bcgrs5T
Awesome! Not easy to do. All the years I've been hunting I've only ever gotten a few from the ground with my bow!
Yeah it was something I wanted to try this year and I'm still doing it and have had other opportunities which I passed. It seems to me that the best situation for hunting on the ground is with your back up against some thick bedding cover and of course where you can remain in the shadows. Thanks for watching Mike!
What broadhead was that? Great hunt! Nvm im surprised that that little amazon broadhead did that well!
I meant to put a link in the description for it. I'll do that now but here is the link. a.co/d/4BdzH2u
Love the verse of the day! Thanks so much for this video!
Thank you so much for watching and for subscribing, if that was you! What rattling method do you normally use?
@@coreyswhitetailwoods4747 Yup that was me! I am new to hunting (3rd year on my own) and am 19 years old. I don't have anyone in my family who really hunts except my older brother, so I'm having to learn a lot on my own so I really appreciate content like yours. I have rattled in a buck with real antlers but they are very uncomfy to pack around. I made a rattle bag for this season but have yet to bring anything in with it.
the rattle bag is just 6in sections of PVC pipe in a sock but it makes a pretty good sound, I think. What are your thoughts? I know some guys use wooden dowels but PVC is what I had.
@GwesleyKing hmm, That's an interesting thing to try. I honestly don't know what that sounds like so I couldn't tell you. But if it sounds similar to bones clashing then it could certainly work. I think during the rut when bucks are really fired up, they're not analyzing sounds too much. If it sounds anything like two bucks sparring, it should work. Good luck out there.
Yeah I didn't have anyone in my family who wanted either. When I started. I didn't start hunting until I was 35 so by the time your my age, you should be a pro LOL. Rattling doesn't always work. Nothing always works. Actually. There have been years where I grunted in or rattled in bucks but then other years where I couldn't get anything to come in like this year for example. We were blessed to put some does on the ground and some meat in the freezer. That is really the best way is to continue absorbing information and just try new things. If you look at the last video, I just released of me shooting a doe from the ground with my bow , that's the first time I've ever done that. I was just trying something new and it was also a middle of the day hunt, and it worked. So you just never know. Can't kill em from the couch right? Brother, just keep at it and enjoy every moment you can in God's beautiful creation. Be blessed and I wish you success out there!
Great job! Love the videos! I'm tagged out so all I can do is watch now! Keep it rollin!
Congratulations on tagging out! That's awesome. In VA, we can get 3 bucks and 3 does and then buy as many additional doe tags as we want, so it's pretty hard to tag out. I'm gonna have to get caught up on your videos! Thanks for watching!
Definitely a challenge with compound from the ground
Yes it is but also a lot of fun trying to pull it off.
Great hunt!! Thought for sure you were going to get that buck. I had started watching the other day, but got pulled away and didn't get to finish. That was a nice doe, good meat for the table for sure. Thanks for the shout out!! I got to get caught up on the hunting videos from all of my friends out there that are hunting. With me working, hunting, editing our videos, I have very limited time to watch. Thanks for taking us along on your deer hunt. Juddie
No problem! It was my pleasure. Do you by chance have a link to that video from last year? I think the short was called "Buck of a lifetime.". I couldn't actually see the buck in the short and wanted to check out the whole video!
I know this video is old but don’t shoot many of those Stingers in the Marlin. They are not exactly a 22LR.
That's some interesting information. Would you mind expounding on that and tell me why you say that? Also, what would you recommend using and why?
Way to go Brother, Keep Safe!
Thanks brother!
Congrats on the fine doe! 👍 Looks like the OH trip was a good one!
Yeah, definitely lots of fun in Ohio. Unfortunately I wasn't not able to kill a big one, but it was a team effort to get Dan's buck!

fun way to hunt them. I do 90% of my hunting on the ground stillhunting. You don't get away with much but it is rewarding when you pull it off close on their level. Great video too!

@coreyswhitetailwoods4747 congrats! Looking forward to seeing the videos. I just uploaded my doe video last night!
Yes sir, I already watched it and left a comment. Congratulations on a mature doe!
I know people who save the lower portion of the deer legs to use training dogs.
Yes, I'm glad I tried it. I'm definitely going to do it more in the future and try to make it a little more difficult each time.
@@coreyswhitetailwoods4747 be sure to include the foot (interdigital glands) some blood and some stomach contents when you can. It takes some time for a dog to learn to put it all together but once they do you have something it's something to see. Sometimes you have all of those things, sometimes you may only have one. Good luck, hope you continue to show your progress!
@TheCarolinacadmanOutdoors That's a really good point to include some stomach content. I didn't even think of that. I shot one today with my bow and didn't keep any of the stomach content, but I will be using that deer to do some more training and will try to keep some stomach content the next time. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@coreyswhitetailwoods4747 A lot of times depending on how the deer was hit, that's all there is and you can't usually even see it, but the dog has no problem smelling it. They just need to associate with finding the deer.

Cool, yeah we were close!
Hope you enjoyed your trip!! You was in my backyard when you visited the New River Gorge, if you were visiting the New River Gorge Bridge in Fayetteville, WV. That is a nice RV!!! A lot longer that what you thought!! Got to make wide turns. That is nice when you can find a campsite where there is stuff that will keep the kids entertained for hours. I have some family that live in KY, but they are close to the Frankfort area I believe. Haven't seen them in years. Snapping turtle!!! I hate snapping turtles, I have almost gotten bit twice. Nice to be able to fish!! Took my grandchildren the other day fishing on a small trout stream close to Jerod's farm. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to more of your cross country videos. Juddie
Thanks for the comment Juddie. We had a blast. It was quite the adventure even with the little fender bender any other hiccups we had during the first 5 days which you should see in the next video, part 2. It was a 37-day trip so it will probably have a few parts before it's over. How do you like the public land hunting over your way?
@@coreyswhitetailwoods4747 when it comes to our week long deer camp, we are hunting in the Monongahela National Forest in Greenbrier County, WV. That is pretty much our extent of public land hunting. Squirrel, bow hunting and muzzleloader hunting we are either on the 8,000 acre lease that we belong to, or lately down on Jerod’s farm. I have hunted a few times at Plum Orchard Lake Wildlife Management Area here in Fayette County, WV, but that was years and years ago before I joined a lease. I hear so many people talk about it being crowded and of course you can’t setup a stand or blind without worrying about it being damaged or stolen. In the National Forest, well there are thousands upon thousands of acres, never really had any issues or people running into me while hunting. Heck right now my son and I have had trail cameras the for almost 5 years. Only issue has been the dang bears won’t leave them alone. That is why I started building my own camera boxes.
That sounds really cool. We don't have any big National Forest close to me that I can hunt. But I have been out to the George Washington National Forest in Virginia, which looks like awesome hunting. I'll have to make a hunting trip out there sometime. That'd be fun. Are you referring to the same Jareod who was on Midwest whitetail?
@@coreyswhitetailwoods4747 no, Jerod is my son, the other half of J & J. We have been doing RUclips since spring of 2011.
Absolutely love how much respect you have for the animal and of course talked about our Lord. God bless you bro I’m going out with my rampage in a few weeks!!
