Dude. I rooted against Jordan in the last 2 championships. I said it - double team him. They tried, it didn’t work. If Jordan shot the ball, it went in, every-time. In his day he was known for fade away believe it or not. He shot from all ranges and almost never missed. And of course he could sky jam on people, but his sharp shooting was what he was best at. So a couple of things. It’s extremely common for people who haven’t been exposed to the previous generations of the NBA, NFL, NHL etc suffer from what is called “recency bias.” I’m almost certain I suffered from the same issue because while I think Wilt, Bill Russell, and Dr J are amazing players- I don’t hold them in the same regard as Bird, Magic, and Thomas - It’s not just that they were more skilled IMHO, there were more less teams in the pre 80’s and there were less rounds of the playoffs. Which is pretty close to your argument. My question to you is this- is the current game really that much better? With load management, fouls from merely breathing on someone, lack of defense, and the egregious flopping. Is the game today actually better than the 90’s and early 200X? Just because you don’t know every name of the players on the all NBA teams from that era doesn’t mean they were bad players. Go back and actually look at those games- especially in the playoffs. Sure, science and medicine have gotten better, travel has gotten easier, players take better care of their bodies etc - but I’d argue the top 25% of players from the 90’s could EASILY play now and even stay in the top 25%. Look, can you make an argument for LBJ to be the GOAT? Sure. Especially if LONGEVITY is the most important metric. But IMHO it’s per game stats that matter. And in that category there are MANY per game stats LBJ has no hope of ever catching MJ in. Dig deeper young buck- you’ll see the truth

I think that the players in today's era have better ball handling skills, overall, than in previous eras. They also have a much larger number of skilled outside shooters. I don't think that they are more skilled defensively at all. Most of the people who played defense against MJ were just exhausted and usually gave up at some point. I don't even like MJ. He is a huge dick. However, outside of debates over records, legacy, skill, etc., which i think you can bend either way, what MJ did that still distinguishes him is that he hit hard every time he was on the court. The statement in the highlights that it think encapsulates him as a player is "I do not play conservatively, I am an all out player." It was true weather he was preforming at his best or his worse offensively he was putting the hustle in and picking it up on the defense. He was an artist, creative, and technically skilled. His lay package was crazy. He took pride in finding new ways to challenge himself. I think it is silly to assume that MJ wouldn't easily adapt and integrate outside shooting into his skill set. Getting to the basket was one of the ways he challenged himself. Hey never wanted to find himself leaning on his outside shot. I think LeBron is amazing, but seeing him play has never been as electrifying for me. He is just not as all out. I think people who talk try to diminish what he does by saying he's lazy clearly has never had to carry a whole team on their back on top of exerting the energy necessary to carry his 250lb body around the court. Yes, he has to preserve his energy, that is just smart not lazy. With that said: You spending the whole video complaining is super obnoxious, my friend. You honestly don’t know basketball. Jordan had were he average 37.1 ppg. James Harden yes he’s great but, Jordan got a lot of his points in the air. so think about it, when the game was more physical as you can see in some of the videos. A lot of those AND 1’s that should have been called, he only got 2 points. He only average 5 to 6 free throws a game. And today’s NBA is a foul. If you add that he would get at least 5 to 6 more free throws again and he was a 90% free throw shooter, why wouldn’t he have averaged at least 40? It’s more than just knowing how to play the game. You have to understand everything about the game and context.

What did Kobe do while he played. If Kobe played and dominated the competition and the one that he learned from is better than him, what in the hell do you think he would do?
