I know it's a long time since but i hope you're not harmed, you forgot to stick an axle stand under the vehicle. Please don't just rely on the jack.
Thanks for the comment, I'm still in good condition many thanks, I'm going to have to go back and watch the Video, I'm normally very good at using axle stands, and strongly agree with everyone using them 👍
Great video Chris, keep em coming mate.....👍
Thanks Steve, I've a load to do this year 👨🔧 hope you're keeping well
I recognise the cameraman's dulcet tones.😂
Was a good cameraman after all, might have to to hire him more often 😂
Fantastic video the car sounds healthy. I am also building one on my RUclips channel
Great video.
Looks good but what was the reason for not carpeting the wheel arch first?
@@vwtransportersandmotorcycl3729 I was still planning that side, something different with the electrics and just never done it is the honest answer!
@ 🤙
Looks lovely. Where was the material from ?
I'll have to go check as I researched so many, might have even of been eBay, main thing is to have that 3mm foam
For £20 I was expecting Karndean flooring.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Who's your glamourous assistant. Going abit thin ontop :)
It's a trait with experience 😁
Floor makes a hell of a difference. And is that Mr Hughes helping or a very good look alike 😂
Is there another poor bugger that looks the same :)
There might be two useful gents out there 😂
Great content. I’d been wondering how much work I’d be able to do with the engine sitting on a furniture cart, and you pretty much answered that. I’d also been wondering how easy it was to get the engine tins and rubber seals lifted back into place (and the axles aligned) - you showed slightly more than other videos, but I’ll forgive you since it looked about midnight when you finished. ;) Cheers from Colorado.
Thanks for the comment, there's a fair amount of work involved but not ridiculous and being 'old' fixings are straight forward,if not difficult to find in the UK. I do miss this car, unfortunately the owner decided to sell, a rewarding adventure I love Colorado, stayed at Breckenridge twice 😃
Morning Chris. Just spotted the video. RUclips hadn't recommended it to me! There's an online calculator (somewhere...) to calculate the wire thickness needed based on length of the wire run, amperage, and maximum desired voltage drop. Its particularly useful on canal boat builds. Even model boats...😂😂. Fridges are known for switching off when voltage is too low caused the supplying battery voltage dropping but critically by the use of wires which are too thin causing excessive voltage drop. Sure you know all that but makes for instructional comment!😂😂😂
Thanks for RUclips algorithm input, I will look into it my side, thanks for the spotting and constructive comment! I'm sure there's multiple online calculators, I pretty much rely on experience of thinkness and I can let you all into a little secret 🤫 When I bought the various reels of wire I have, I've wrote on the ampage on
@CrispysProjects Ah, but not the length of the run!!
Thanks for the Video, good information greece is such a shithole
Nice job mate. I put mine under the seat too. I think carpeting your seat bases would finish it off nicely. ruclips.net/video/_zNZYu5l3wU/видео.htmlsi=sUAsPY9ZO-X3M3_q
Great video. Did you squeeze in some grease on cv joint before reassembly or were you cleaning edges?
I like wiring. Ground side switching quite common in cars isn't it? I understood the diode use. That relay looks familiar. Did we consult? No, I can't remember either.😂😂
Ground switching is easier for the ECM's, and used often hence me wanting not to confuse the other modules too much. Thanks for the support as always 👍
Same with my Arduino circuits.
How much money do people charge for this job? Thanks
I would imagine if they had the tool (VW specialist) should be about 1hrs labour+part which can vary depending on the quality of part Thanks for the question 👍
Great vid. Where is the speaker located in the van please? Thanks
Hi, I'd just left it cable tied next to the module, really depends on if you can hear it. In a later video - installing a ply lined ceiling panel, it's moved up there with drilled out speaker grill like holes and it's so much better. Thanks for asking a question 👍
Any updates !!!!
It's running very well, looking to do an ESP update when the weather is icy or snowing, completely missed it last winter 🥶 I think driving in a straight line and braking might be more boring than my normal stuff 😂
@@CrispysProjects but do an update on the corrado
well done and thank you very much for this great video i fixed it with your help thanks a lot
Glad it helped, Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
So my cable box is covered in sticky foam so I can't identify the numbers. Which 8s the reverse light wire colour. Forums say green. But I have green and purple and a green and yellow so very confusing
Sounds like a mess! So what I'd do to identify which is the reverse wire, use a multimeter or test light on those wires to see which goes to 12v / power on selecting reverse (ignition on, engine not running! ) Good luck 👍
Sure ...its lite bite left😅😅😅...
Can you then just clad over this without any other insulation?
So Yes you can and I have done, DODO actually advised further insulation between this thermal lining and the ply/carpet covering is only beneficial in more cold/hot weather. so I've used it in high 20s (with windscreen shades) and it still cool inside If I was using it in winter I might have considered it, I may even have a weekend over this November/December give to it a go, and do a video on it
Great video! Good to see its still helping people 4 years on. This has helped me with my coilovers recently. Can I just ask, could you damage the drive shaft or any of the bearings in the cv joint in the process? I struggled to release the ball joint and really had to flex the wishbone down putting pressure on the boots and the drive shaft moved back and forth many times during the process. Im not sure if its in my head and its road noise, but im sure i can hear a rotary noise that sounds like the wind if that makes sense? It might just be paranoid and listening for something because ive never done anything like this before. Thanks again. 👍
Glad to hear it's still helping, hope you're happy with your achievement 👍 There is a wide amount of movement in the CVs, I couldn't guarantee nothing may of been damaged but if you had there would likely been a knocking noise driving. Only thing I'd suggest is something rubbing like the dust shield on the brake disk as you would have yanked on them. Simple jacking up, turning the wheels may locate it, and pushing the dust shield back could fix it Thanks for the comment 👍
@CrispysProjects Ill take a look at that. Thanks for your reply and thanks again for sharing your knowledge. Keep up the good work.
Looks the nuts.the rubber washer is to prevent galvanick corrosion. Steel van aloy shokers
Hi did you remove sensor ta
No, sure I didn't, full 10 min video on the channel
Cracking video, just about to undertake this myself and am much more confident after seeing you run through it. Just a quick question, do the brake lines that run from the ABS unit to the rear brake bias cross over at any point (in the bay, or near the bias)? I've just replaced my lines but comepletely forgot to take a picture of them.
I'm glad it's helped you, yes the lines do run cross over, so front left & rear right are on the same circuit as an example My pump is marked in German where each union goes. I have a video on T5 fuel filter that helps run though some of the letter translations if you can find ref online Good luck 🤞
Sorry for the dumb question, do you work on the wiring when the van is off without disconnecting the battery and when you put the van in reverse you used a multi meter to find the cable that would be dead but in reverse showing 12v. to connect this to?
Hey Sam, no such thing as a daft question , I might have also missed something explaining it. Testing for the 12v on the reverse - ignition is on, reverse selected so the lamps switch on as power comes on. On connecting the wiring it's best to have ignition off/lamps off something like this battery doesn't have to be disconnected as the circuit isn't live Good luck, it's a great upgrade if you do no other 👍
@@CrispysProjects amazing, I got my first van, super excited and your video was perfect thanks a lot!
whats the right tool to remove and put back those wag clips? Been struggling with one for an hour...xD
I've always used a flat screwdriver, and sometimes stronger needle nose pliers They can be difficult , but there tight that's a good thing 👍
Hey everyone I’m wanting to rebuild 07 GTI calipers and wondering what they’re called and where I can buy little rubber seals for rear e brake. I have front and rear pistons seals but having trouble finding info on e brake ones. TIA!
Very good video. So many points I didn't know. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful! 👍
0:19 SEX 🍆 😂. Thanks for the video. I'm about to change the speakers in mine.
Okay so i manually took 12v from fog light that enables on key ignition and put onto black wire, and rest of your video I seem to get the same except the coolant sensor i get on specs. But my ISV is still not reacting! What could be wrong? I have jumped the isv while connected and bloody hell it noticed it works then, revved like crazy
Hi I did see you comment couple days ago, but not had time to look at the wiring diagram to check, but just realised you took 12V from fog light. If that's the 12v feed, that might be the problem, that circuit might be the 75x which looses 12v when cracking, worth a check it gets 12v ignition and cranking. Also the earth to the module is good Good luck 🤞
Absolutely brilliant video. I'm convinced. Thanks a lot pal.
Glad you enjoyed it, makes a great improvement 👍
Thanks for your video. By far the best one for me on ply lining a van.👍
Glad you've found it useful, thanks 👍
Thanks

Glad it's helped, thanks for feedback 👍

Its summer, so heated seat essential in in the UK. Conveniently located power supply!! Short cable run. Fused I assume?👍😊
@@paulwhite2023 Indeed it all came together nicely in the end! Yes we have a fused link and realistically leisure battery always on charge whilst driving Thanks for the comment 👍

I have a plan...... just didn't mention it come to think of it! Needs bit of a retrim long term, just want everything right 1st
Interesting video. However, these head units apoear to be made in China. That country is guilty of atrocious war crimes and crimes against humanity. China is also launching cyber attacks against our hospitals, schools and defence infrastructure. They're also supporting Russia and are supplying them with arms, military components and expertise. I'll be looking to buy a European made head unit instead, if I can find one ...
I can see where your coming from, one reason I went with Xtron as the contact & main distribution is in Northwest of UK, which all my contact was with them amd I'm sure the website says designed in UK
Great video ,enjoyed the porcshe content 👌
Glad you enjoyed it, what an amazing journey we had. Cant wait our next trip as I'm watching the start of this year's. Porsche FTW!
Worn out watching the race and thats just fifteen minutes. Well done.👍
You'd best take the weight off your feet and chill 😌 Was a bit of a tiring trip even by our standards Glad you enjoyed
You made fitting that headliner a hard watch... use a bigger table, it would be so much easier for you. ALWAYS use oversized pieces. I get that its expensive, but if its trimmed within millimetres, it will shrink and pull itself apart....
I made it harder to do, your right 👍 I do find a couple of boxes ideal for moving about and my trusty workmate set-up is so oily I couldn't risk it Thanks for the input, we're all learning. many thanks 👍
An you fix this straight to metal
BIG TIP, when the inner metal sleeve is removed from the bush remove the blade from a hacksaw, put blade into the old bush still in the wishbone, reattach the hacksaw to the blade and cut through any rubber left the through the outer metal part of the bush taking care not to cut into the wishbone itself, when cut through hammer and punch will knock out the old bush relatively easy.
Me watch, me scared to do hehe! Great work!
Rivetting video. I mean clipping video.😂😂😂. Looks a good finish on the roof, be interesting to see it face to face. Where did you source the suede with foam backing? A trim shop or general ebay market place msybe? Seven days and counting....👍
I did have to clip some of the footage ✂️😂 The material has made it so nicer than the planned carpet, which I'll say was a eBay purchase, enough spare for the Corrado
Great video as usual ,like the clips .well done.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed - magic clips make the difference to a tidy job
