Sadowsky MetroLine VJ4 - Is This Love (BASS COVER)
Просмотров 3062 месяца назад
This video is for educational purposes only. I recorded this on my new German made Sadowsky Metroline VJ4. Passive mode and about 75% rolled towards the front pickup. The original bass track was played by Aston Barret, and is a brilliant example of Reggae Bass at it’s best. I’m trying to be as true to the original as I can, but no one can feel it like the man who lived and breathed it for decad...

The bass player in the band is Phil Small, and I absolutely love his playing style. Th...

It’s been a while between tunes - so here’s a bit of a cover of James Taylor’s song from 1970, “Fire and Rain”. James released this 50 years ago, a month before he turned 22. Coincidentally the same age that my daughter Karla is turning next month. Thanks Karla, it's good to have someone to play some music with every now and then. (BEST HEARD WITH HEADPHONES)

It’s truly an incredible instrument built with an exceptionally high level of attention to detail that’s near impossible to find in today’s mass market. Keep these numbers in mind: 18 thousands at the first fret. (distance between top of fret to underside of strings), and around 40 thou at 12th fret. Nut slot depth is the first step in a decent set up. Be careful to not file too deep-- sneak up on the slots. It will take a good bit of time and effort, but it will be time well spent. And buy or borrow a set of slot files that are a couple thou wider than the strings. Once you are satisfied with the slot depth, take a needle sharp graphite pencil and rub some graphite into the slot. This will help the string to glide in the groove making it smoother to tune. Cheers, my Aussie friend. Bob in Montana, USA
