Fine video, but using less nitrogen can be required in many high input systems while small scale farms in low-income countries e.g. in Africa in rain-fed areas tend to have light-green, N-deficient crops and no major N-pollutions problems from these fields. Cost and access of N-fertilizer, as well as knowledge of sustainable use and farm-gate crop: fertilizer price ratio, can be challenges, however, as well as drought risk if placed too concentrated at the seed. On the other hand, the amount of N available from nitrogen fixation (or recycled) depends on many factors too. I developed and published some solutions for tropical agroforestry at least, some publications were co-published with the late Dr. N E Nielsen (RVAU, now U-CPH). I have positive experiences with them in agroecological freelance and NGO world.
