Fantastic video Deano - well done! I ride my mountain bike to the top of the Tokatea Hill (your first stopping point) for a bit of exercise. Unfortunately, I came off in the hills behind Coromandel two weeks ago and broke my femur. Story here: geoffjames.blogspot.com/2024/12/when-things-turn-to-custard.html. Swapping engine power for pedal power isn't always safer at my age. All the best for the festive season and watch out for idiot tourists. Cheers, Geoff

Hello ! Is a Winter Jacket? Could you wear it without cold in low temperature ?
@@kostasbarakos9949 Not really a cold winter riding jacket, unless you have some warm layers underneath. Where I live it doesn’t get that cold over winter so I can wear it all year round in NZ.

Hi. Nice video. Can you tell me your length and weight and what size of jacket your wearing? Thanks.
@@guywalkabout1914 I’m 5ft9, 65kg & the jacket is a medium. Fits me well for my size. I did try a Large but was too loose on me.
@@deanosmotorcyclerides Thanks. Perfect. I'm 5.9 and 66-67kg, so I'll try a Medium.
@@kostasbarakos9949 Yes, thank you. The M fits perfectly. With the thermal and waterproof liner in the jacket , it's a bit snug, but it's ok. It doesn't bother me and after half an hour of wearing the jacket, I got used to the fit of this jacket. A size L jacket would not work for me, cause the sleeves would get too long. Greetings.

I rode my ´22 model Pan Am now for 10k. I’m really happy with it. No major issues. Since I’m from Germany I use it 99% on tarmac but a few times I had the chance to drive some gravel and some dirt. It felt safe and easy with this heavy bike. On the streets I can drive it really sporty within the legal limits - also with the Michelin Adventure tires on it - it‘s just incredible what’s possible with modern tires and bikes. I often switch between the riding modes and really like how easy I can adapt to different conditions or mindsets 😊. I came from a Sport Glide and a Buell XB9R now I have a stronger bike offering me much more opportunities to ride.
@@MarkoW-f3p I feel they are an underrated bike outside of the US, here in NZ I don’t see many on our roads. Glad you are enjoying yours, ride safe 😎

@@shaynelipsham6351 Thanks Shayne
I brought the Panam because I thought it looked fantastic, was a V twin, 150hp, and all roads capable. I'm 6ft, 61yo, been riding 40+ years, did vintage motocross and enduro in the 1990's, and classic track racing in the 2000's. I have taken my Panam on trails, it is too heavy for that riding, wears you out. It is great for dirt and rough roads. Now I am a HD rider, have a 1988 Lowrider, hotted up and with a sidecar. I had a 1980's sports bike background, grew up in the Grampians, Victoria Australia. I did raise the ride height of the Lowrider and turn it into a more European style handling sports bike, then fitting the sidecar and if is an amazing ride with the stiff suspension and hotted up motor.
@@hughmac7423 That’s what I like about the Harley motorcycle’s, lots of models to choose from & lots of mods you can do to each model. Looks like you have had a lot of experience over the years with motorcycles. Ride safe out there 🍻
I think having both is essential, because they are like chalk and neo-Harley cheese. Harley literally muscled in on the 'adventure bike' market, and the PA might not make every Harley die hard happy. Personally, i could not live with the plastic engine covers, which are for car owners.
@@michaelfraser5723 I agree, having both would be the perfect setup 👍
End of this months I have to to answer the same question. Stay with the Michelin or head for the Pirelli for autumn to spring 🤔. Please keep us up to date.
@@MarkoW-f3p I did a good ride on them today, mostly paved roads. I came across a steep loose gravel road which I had to stand up on the pegs for most of it. The Pirelli’s are definitely better on the loose gravel than the Michelin tyres. I suppose it comes down to what roads you will be riding on & the price at the end of the day.
I’m experiencing rough running at 3,000 revs in road mode and the same at 4,000 revs in sport mode. Feels like riding over rumble strips or bumps but on a smooth road. Worse when warmed up. Dealer has suggested it’s a characteristic of the pan am. Have you experienced this? Thoughts?
@@stevejones3180 No I haven’t experienced anything like that. Maybe take it to a different dealership & get a second opinion. How many km’s has your one done?

I'm on the north shore and have a 2022 model. I've fitted it with motoz tyres. I like them, get hold of me and try them out. No too badly priced either. Cheers Mark.
@@MarkBardell-f2l where did you get them from & what’s the full name of them. Thanks
@deanosmotorcyclerides the rear is a motoz tractionator gps. Multi directional, 80/20 but if you fit them the other way around they become a more aggressive pattern for more off road oriented riding. At the time of purchase the fronts weren't available so after seeking advice via e mail to Kyle Bradshaw in the states I opted for motoz dual venture on the front. The combo works well in the gravel and after a few kms of bedding in, work really well on the seal as well. No dramas with riding at normal road speeds. Very slightly noisier till they settle in. No longer really noticeable. Got them from cycle treads. Good price too. Cheaper than the H D recommended tyres. You're welcome to check them out. Mike at NS Harley can give contact details. Cheers Mark.
I have a 2022 Panam, the army green version, got it in March 2023, and I'm very happy with it. I have 14,200km and was hoping to get it's 16,000km service soon, but it is in the workshop with a failed alternator, a magnet came loose. Fortunately it is in warrantee, and Harley-Heaven Melbourne are upgrading it with the 2024 alternator kit. I have a set of Mita E07+ for dirt road riding, I swap them with the standard tyres, and have done 7,402km on the Mita's and they still have a lot of tread depth, and are okay on sealed roads, with good grip in the wet. I would like to try the Michelin Anakee Wilds. I have the standard tyres fitted at present, usually have them fitted during winter, where I do less dirt road riding. I've only had two services, both cost less than $600.
@@hughmac7423 thanks for the info on the tyres, the Mita E07 seem to come up a lot when I do a tyre search. $1000 for a service is way to much, won’t be going back there.
How can I make only 1 mic (the transmitter) to record me while having the same setup as you do in the video? I dont want to be vlogging and then having 2 sound sources due to the receiver recording too by accident
@@SimpliAlex with the Rode Wireless Me setup, you have to have both the receiver plugged into a camera & the transmitter which you talk into for the system to record your audio. If you own a DJI Action 4 camera you can record audio using the DJI Mic 2 transmitter only, not needing a receiver plugged into a camera. The DJI Mic 2 transmitter also records audio as a backup in case the Bluetooth drops out between the mic & camera.
@@deanosmotorcyclerides I got a GoPro 9, so I understand I have to connect the receiver via the 3.5mm connections, and have the transmitter on my helmet, but I want only the transmitter to record audio, is that a possibility ? thanks boss
@@SimpliAlex I don’t think so, cheers
Picking up heavy bikes is a skill. I’m 80kgs but can pick up my Pan easily as well as my 07 Bagger. Trick is to turn the bars hard right, stand on the right side, grab the right side hand grip and lock the front brake on. Stand as close to the centre as you can, upright, lift the bike. It’s not hard and you should practice it an home on the lawn. You need 70/30 tyres minimum for gravel. 50/50 are even better if you’re new to gravel. Once you know what you’re doing, back to 70/30 if you’re doing a lot of asphalt riding.
@@davebevin Thanks mate, I’m in the process of getting new tyres at the moment. Cheers
As others have pointed out, if you're going to ride that type of road often it would be worth changing to off road tyres. They'll make a BIG difference.
@@averagebiker1 my next set of tires will be more aggressive, cheers mate
No video of the crash? Be nice to analyse it. I ride an R1250GS and in the first month I fell over 6 times. They sure are heavy to pick up. All from over balancing, none from skidding or n]losing control. I test rode the H-D too and dropped that when it lowered when I stopped, began to roll forward to get a better view and it raised, stopped for traffic and my legs not long enough. Also came off cruisers with much lower seat heights. Getting the hang of it now. Great video
