Back in March 2021, I took a little trip to Rockaway Beach, Missouri. Rockaway Beach is located about 25 minutes away from Branson, Missouri and used to be a hot spot for tourists and fishermen. I show you what's left in the tiny town. Fun Fact: A motion to open up a casino and legalize gambling in the Rockaway Beach town was rejected.

Today I explore the abandoned project called "Indian Ridge" Back in 2006, Indian Ridge began it's construction and ended in 2009. I’m here because of Bob Jenkins.
Well the good news is that the owners of Silver Dollar City bought the property in late 2023. Plans are for a park expansion and resort and new indoor/outdoor waterpark.
Used to go there as a kid and fish for trout and eat at the pizza celler. There was a little paint ball course up the road next to a cool general store.
He was presumably written up and possibly fired.
I miss Rockaway beach I had great friends there and great times wanting to go back? Enjoyed seeing the video

It is sad to see JBs and CAPs dock missing... If anyone that visits this remembers Caps dock, the namesake of the dock is from my Aunt Cap that is no longer with us
The little platform at 5:52 that you see above the go cart track was where there used to be a Ice cream snack bar. It was owned by my parents. So many memories of me getting quarters from my parents and running across the street to the arcade when i was a little kid

The big hotel is not abandoned. It's privately owned and occupied by the owners. It's also in Forsyth, not Rockaway.

I'm 57 yrs old and used to visit friends there often in the mid to late 90's. Stayed at the Taneykomo(sp) campgrounds owned by the gas station. It was a nice getaway.

All the tourist attractions that opened up in Branson took away the business from Rockaway Beach
When they built table rock dam it made the water cold and people slowly stopped coming. Used to be a beach town where you could swim and water ski here, but not anymore.

@@MoonbeamBenjamin time and evolution i guess. the elders retired and there werent many of the younger generations willing to put in the work would be my best guess. aside from that as branson grew it overshadowed rockaway beach. rockaway was branson before branson was a thing... there are those that want rockaway to become what it once was, i dont believe that will happen, as most things in life, when you revisit a past place, seldom will it be what it was when you were there in the past, things change and evolve. rockaway is a great place to live and or visit, always will be, but it wont ever be the place it was when al capone had a home here, or when president truman vacationed here, or any other piece of its history..things just naturally evolve, good or bad, somethimes neither.

First time I've seen a housing development under construction without putting in streets first. Looks geologically and constructurally unsound. Probably a major blessing this was abandoned before many people were hurt.

Unfinished housing projects are not all that uncommon. Some company will buy the place lock, stock, and barrel and then finish the project while finding a way to write the whole thing off their taxes. Ain't nothin' new, just a different place.

I was just there about a month ago. A couple of the houses in this video have now fallen over, and others look like they are about to follow suit. It is on the road from Branson to West Branson on your left as you head out.
