Sleeping with head in north direction is bad for health as it disrupts the balance in our body's magnetic field with earth's magnetic field. This is why in India, no one sleeps in that direction. She is right about the belief.
The book of Sei Shonagon is one of my favorite books! ❤
So it’s just a thin mattress on the floor, I liked to sleep like this a lot. Sadly I can’t do this anymore, can’t get up from the floor and need an adjustable bed.
See exercise of multiple ways to get up from the floor.Train your body gently and slowly. Also if you ever had a fall the hospital gives you advice. All found googling these days
Or you could make a plain support/frame to raise it up from wood or mdf.Or buy a japanese one which can also be separated into low tables!Search japanese shops near you
@@joanneblowey3001 thank you, this would work for me if there wasn’t a nasty illness which makes me need a wheelchair and some more things to get me through day and night.
Would not like it there.
Do they live there in winter?
Give me a normal bed anytime.
I stayed a couple of nights at an onsen hotel during my recent trip to Japan. The futon was quite pleasant, but the duvet was stiff as a board and quite heavy!
They really sleep like that? No night table and light. Where do they put eyeglasses, water, clock?Sounds not good to me.
Very calming video. The prepared futon is beautiful and looks so cozy.😊
I'd like to try this but in the morning I spend an hour or 2 before work browsing the web. What is a comfortable way to read in bed?
It is such a beautiful room. I will make my tatami-room in Germany soon…
So glad to go back next month!
Thanks for this! I just confirmed that I was sleeping on my futon wrong lmao (folding the duvet under the futon and so on). Greetings from Spain!
Fredrick Mountains
Kulas Isle
I once had a futon and me and my hubby slept on it. We slept very well but found the futon very heavy and impractical to move. It was a double sized.
Sleeping on the floor on the futon is fun and healthier.
Thank you for this video, very insightful! God bless.
Yoi forget to show how you put the tatemi's
Thank you!
What a sweet lady.
It is a busy mall with too many things packed in. Harappa and the rooftop are convenient to rest for free.
Ugliest mall in tokyo 😢
All i wanted in life. Dealing with Mattresses and bedding is so annoying and combersum. Takes up so much more space and you cant move it around when you need said space. Why cant life be so much simpler? 😮
Cumbersome
Awesome video! I want to go back soon
Cool, is this the tallest building in Tokyo?
it's too cold outside
Στην Ελλάδα το λέμε "στρωματσάδα"😊😅
Just checked with the compass on my watch, and I face north when I sleep. What's that mean, I'll actually die someday? Bed's in the best position it could possibly be in, and I sleep in the way that is most comfortable to me. If that will one day be the death of me, so be it. Good sleep and a shorter lifespan is better than bad sleep but living longer, I think. (I know, it's not that serious.)
Sorry for worrying you with our video. In Japan, it is considered bad luck to sleep facing north because dead people are made to lie facing north at funerals and other occasions. I do not know exactly, but it may be that the afterlife is believed to be in the direction of the north. But even in Japan, there are people who sleep facing north due to housing conditions. You will not die or get sick by sleeping facing north. Do not worry. This is an old Japanese superstition!
It is not.
@@tokyowalking9437 So, if one believes this old superstition, in what direction would they place their head? Is it considered good to place one's head to the East?
Yeah, I assumed this was a superstition. Every culture has them but sometimes it takes some research to uncover their origins.
I have a Japanese platform bed, it is just a couple of cm off the floor so that air circulates
Hello from Holland! I was wondering if vegetarianism or veganism are popular in Japan? In Europe they have become extra popular in the last 10 years or so. Thank you for the interesting insights into Japanese culture. 🙏
4:23 The food descriptions are written in arabic , i feel happy as an arabic pesron . One small problem , the letter are mirrored , if you go back to that shop ... could you tell them to correct the arabic letters ?? Other than that , Thank you so much for the delightful video 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🌸🌸🌸
There's a lot pf vegetarian and vegan restaurants in japan . Since the starting of japan history thier diet is ( piscetrian = Seafood + vegetables) , also a lot of them follow the religion shintoisim , religious area have a lot of vegan foods . I travelles to japan 7 times , the amount of restaurants and caffes numbers are beyond imagination 🤣‼️ You can easly find food according to your likings . Enjoy travelling ✌🏽😁
Er zijn genoeg vegetarische opties in Tokyo te vinden.
Good evening mam i want your contact number wtsapp
Thanks, lady.
lol no one sleep like this any more! We have beds now!!!
hello, i was so happy to find this video! i learned the tea ceremony several years ago and this helped me refresh my memory with the many steps. would you happen to have the full video of the teacher’s demonstration which includes purifying the chawan with the chakin so i could review this part as well and do my own tea ceremony at home? arigato 😊
I like the way she pronounces futon. Her accent is cute.
Nice!
Just a note, the music was a bit loud and distracting. Makes it very difficult for the hard of hearing to hear what is being said. Enjoyable video nonetheless. 😊
Well done ❤
Did she die sleeping north?
So nice
I sleep on a Western bed but I fold up all my blankets every morning and stack them at the end like you would do when you put away a futon. Thats what I was taught to do.
Thanks for the helpful video. Sadly I'm now in love lol 😂 she's the cutest chick eva
