That boat sails close to the wind. She points high. What is the make and model?
Yes she does. It’s an S&S34 but modern tech hull of epoxy foam sandwich. Much lighter than her predecessor’s.
Is that constellation?

This rigmarole is why I like self-tacking jibs.
Fair comment, but it’s fun!
Have you tried 'em? Whilst tacking they are comfortable, but as soon as you start bearing away they are utterly useless and you are almost required to have another sail to keep a bit of speed. Also, when reefing your jib (not ideal but sometimes required) you cannot change the clew angle which makes for a horrific trim. You actually loose a lot of height going upwind as the top end of the sail is not pulled on anymore and the top is "open".
Referring to not using a self tacker as fun. Have no interest in self tacking.

Nice, but get used to removing the winch handle, Makes for faster moves and less risk for making mistakes! Also maybe pull some more on the downhaul. Also more telltails, one can not have too many telltails.
Thanks mate. I was going to dump the downhaul as I need to create some space for a couple of luff reef lines and I’m not racing. Do I really need the downhaul?

The old ones aren't structuraly weak, what a stupid statement from old mate
He’s owned many, owns the epoxy moulds, and built the new epoxy hulls.
@@riggsfinnweaker maybe, but still not a weak boat. Theyve survived plenty of crossings
@@maybeharold true. But these new ones are solid. Zero flex. Quite something. And fast. 4.62T on water this one.
