Test Your Water Line for Lead
Просмотров 15321 час назад
Now is the time to test your water line for lead. This is a tutorial on how to do that. You can determine what material your pipe is made out of by filling out the Baltimore Service Line Partnership Survey. DPW will replace it if it's lead or corrugated steel. Can’t find where all backpacks are prohibited. It seems that Duffel bags and suitcases are prohibited and there is a limit on the size of bags that can be used. Sad they find this necessary but I have no problem with this. Shoplifting effects us all with either higher prices or store closings. Interested to see what alternatives are suggested.

The overwhelming majority of stuff that we think we're recycling isn't getting recycled. It's getting tossed into the incinerator or landfill. This is true not just for Baltimore but all over the country. When we put our bins out there, we think we're doing the right thing, but all we're really doing is making ourselves feel better. First of all, single-stream is a terrible system. By its very nature, it contaminates. Things that might otherwise actually be recycled get contaminated by other things mixed in and are rendered useless. It's actually costing the city more money to get rid of this stuff than if it were all just put in the regular trash. Second, despite all the rules and guidelines that have been in place for years, most residents still don't know what is and isn't acceptable in curbside recycling. I see this all the time as I walk around the neighborhood. Constantly, people are throwing into their bins all kinds of crap: wire hangers lightbulbs styrofoam mirrors broken bits from vases and drinking glasses cardboard boxes that aren't broken down flat plastic bags hard-plastic bottle caps soiled food & beverage containers twisted pieces of metal oily pizza boxes aluminum foil Etc. etc. etc., too much crap to name. NONE of this stuff is acceptable in curbside recycling. All it does is muck up the works down at the sorting plant and contaminate everything else in the load.
