Whale in the lake at Forster Tuncurry - Southern Right Whale in Wallis Lake, 29th June 2021
Drone footage of a rare and endangered Southern Right Whale which entered Wallis Lake at Forster-Tuncurry (NSW, Australia) - on Tuesday 29th June, 2021 at 7:30am. After a little over 4 days in the lake, the Whale safely returned to sea on Saturday 3rd July, 2021 at 3:30pm.
Footage was captured prior to the NPWS Protection Order being issued.

Beautiful, just beautiful. The water really is that colour, the sand is silver white and its so clean is squeaks under your feet. Air so clean, and the sky a perfect blue. Its as close to heaven on Earth as you can get.

Nice work. I was hoping to get my drone to Forster for some recreational footage myself. Do you know of drone restrictions around the area at all.
Hi Paul, you can fly most areas without any problems. There is a small air strip on Wallis Island which you need to be mindful of. The rules for this are: If you're near a helicopter landing site or smaller aerodrome without a control tower, you can fly your drone within 5.5 kilometres. If you become aware of manned aircraft nearby, you will have to manoeuvre away and land your drone as quickly and safely as possible.
