X595 won't start without starting fluid then runs fine
Description of issue and resolution for others with the same issue. My X595 diesel won't start without starting fluid. I see white smoke as t turns over. Once running, it runs great. I checked the fuel system for water and air and found no issues. Planned to test the glow plugs when I discovered I had low voltage at the glow plugs. Connection to a relay was dirty. This applies to X500 and X700 series diesels as really any small diesel lawn tractors. Hope this helps.
Update - I eventually did replace the Relay that powers the glow plugs. It worked intermittently . This is the lowest of the 3 relays referred to in the video.

2015 FORD SUPERDUTY TRANSMISSION PROBLEM
Просмотров 7 тыс.7 лет назад
YENREHC 2015 Ford F350 Superduty transmission problem changing from 5th to 6th gear. APIM and radiator problems too.
What symptoms were you having with the valve? I have a 455 jd and there is no leaking just have alot of play in the steering wheel. Over half a turn left and right be for the wheels turn.? Thanks
THANK YOU for the video, you are an absolute WARRIOR as this is an absolutely brutal job to accomplish.
Sooo... All we need to take off is everything but the motor... Awesome engineering!!
Yeah it is a big enough project but I would check the hydraulic lines closely before you buy a steering control valve. Especially the line that comes from the rear of the tractor. It could save you a $1000 for the valve.
@@GyrHuntTest There are no leaks and its dry as a bone down there, so I'm assuming it's the pump.... Thanks!!
I replaced my steering control valve thinking it was broke but my line was cracked. I still have the replaced steering control valve. If you want it, you can have it. You pay for the shipping.
@@GyrHuntTest Thanks, very kind of you but I already have the new one.
Looking to buy 1 of these
I had a 2015 F150 with a broken lead-frame causing mess like this. Is it possible yours broke? Hadn't heard of it on the 6R140.
I guess I am not sure. Would a broken lead frame trigger a fault that I could find?
@@GyrHuntTestNo, sadly it does not. The lead frame is inside the transmission, in the oil. It has four critical components on it. Input shaft speed sensor, output shaft speed sensor, oil temp sensor, and something else, as well as relays. The frame would literally crack and contacts would not always be touching, causing the truck to shift in and out of gears. Mine would completely LOSE sixth gear until I turned off the truck, waited a moment, and restarted it. Again, this was a MAJOR issue on the 6R80. I do not know if it affected the 6R140. I have a 6R140 in my 2017 F-250 that is solid, but then again, many people had no issue with the 6R80 either, while others had nightmares.
I was going to take mine to a transmission shop to have it looked like. Mine does the exact same thing, only when cold. After it’s warmed up you’d never know. But obviously, it’s not a problem if you’ve put 70k on the truck.
I'm at 222,000 miles now. Still happening but it hasn't been a problem.
It’s got to be a flaw with some of these trucks but “normal”. You’ve drove it that far with it doing that so it must not be an issue. Just cold natured.
I'm having problem removing the hose from the steering control valve, any idea how I can take them out?
If I remember this correctly there are 2 6mm allen head bolts holding a bracket over all of the hydrolic lines. I fished 6mm allen tool and a rachet from the bottom. I needed 2 bits, one 6 inch and one 3 inch long. It will help if you remove the cross supports from the frame. I also removed the drive shaft. Once the the bracket is loose it can be twisted and fished out.
Leaking on my 445. Not looking forward to doing the repair. Thanks for the video
I would first look at the top hydrolic line. It comes from the back center of tractor. I lost some line clamps and over time the feeder line developed a small leak. It isn't too hard to remove. You will remove the seat and back deck for one end of the line. The other end connects to the steering control valve. Remove the cross members under the tractor. If I remember correctly, a 6 mm 6 inch hex socket works to remove the clamp on the valve. The line will pop out. Closely examine the soldered end for hairline cracks. Take a pic with your phone and enlarge it will help. Replace any missing hydrolic line clamps. Good luck
@@GyrHuntTest thanks for the tip. Pretty messy, particularly on the top of the mower deck.
You video was very helpful. Thanks!
I still have the truck. 210K miles. I have the same issues, but it hasn't been a problem.
I bought a 2015 f250 a week ago the very next day did the same thing to me called the dealer they got it in a few days ago they called said there tech drove it said there is something wrong and are planing to pull the transmission tomorrow I will post what they come up with when I know.
That would be great. Thanks Ben.
What was the outcome?
What is the problem?? And how to fix it?
I still have the truck. The shifting issue continues and is more common in cold weather. Once transmission heats up the issue doesn't occur. I have a 140000 miles on the vehicle and it is running fine other than shifting issue between 5 and 6. While it's annoying it hasn't been a big issue.
Is your truck tuned, maybe it has something to do with the trans tuning. That’s what I’m starting to think.
No. I have never had it tuned.
I have the same issue. Definitely comes and goes. Some days it drives perfectly normal other days it it has a really shitty shift between 5 and 6. More noticeable when the truck is cold.
Do you still have this truck? Is it still doing it? How many miles are you at now? Did you find a fix.... I just got a truck and it is doing the same thing. Thanks !!!
I still have the truck. 205K miles. Still does it in the cold but it hasn't been a problem.
That’s my sister. lol that was so long ago
No fix yet. My 2015 Ford superduty is still having transmission flares between 5th and 6th gear. No solution offered by my service guys.
Still no fix? My 2015 is doing the same thing no load driving lightly and flares from 5th to 6th.

Did you ever find out what was causing this shift flare ? And did you find a fix for it?
Tyler Gressley No. It does not happens consistently and my Ford dealer "can't replicate the issue". It seems to be related to the transmission temp (95-120 degrees). It only happens when shifting into 6th gear. I am sure that the right engineer at Ford would know the cause. If you find out more I would appreciateit if you let me know -Scott
