That's a very interesting Symphony with a stunning sense for delicious crunchy dissonances and an interesting dramaturgy! If I may add some a little bit critical observations (on a high level): I would try to break up the regularity of too many four bar phrases, they feel a bit too classical for your advanced freely tonal or even atonal language. Also, that some material is often recurring verbally without any variation or development seems a little bit too easy. That diminishes a bit the power of some of the very striking material. Overall I get the impression that your way of constructing a form might be described as a puzzle from very distinct modular cells, often with sharp contrasts between them. That is an intriguing way of building form and drama as we can see in composers like Stravinsky or Copland, but it can get somewhat random. I think a composition that generally relies on this very formal technique nevertheless needs to have some episodes with a more teleological sense of direction and development to serve as a catalysator for the unity of the form as a whole. But please, don't take these remarks as a sign of disapproval. I really appreciate your style and this Symphony a lot and give credit to your creativity. And it's already your tenth Symphony! Having just finished my first Symphony myself I surely have great respect for your impressive output!

Love the piece. Shows a lot of creativity and understanding of trombone writing. The only thing I’d recommend is regarding the double multiphonic at the end. I’d recommend giving further instruction on this as to whether you want this to be performed by one player or to have the parts being played by multiple people on one part.

There are many moments of great tension and beauty in this piece. This could be a cinematic drama in and of itself, masterfully crafted with dissonance, tone clusters, and your excellent use of interesting rhythms which keeps the music flowing in a direction that leaves me in suspense throughout. Your orchestration skills are awesome. This piece is a kaleidoscope of orchestral colours and textures. Brilliant. I love how you will get a blood pumping passage that makes you want to run for your life, followed by a relieving calm in the high woodwinds, then interrupted by the string clusters that adds yet more tension. Seriously. I can’t get enough of this.

I truly admire the entirety of this piece, but my favorite part is definitely those 30 seconds from 2:22 to 2:52 :D

This is really awesome! I can't quite read the name in the score, but is that a contrabass clarinet?! That's super cool, really amazing texture it gives to the super ominous introduction. I really love the overall structure of the piece and how it winds up with the syncopated chords (like in 1:40 and later at 2:46) that evolve into the whole orchestra becoming a homogenous percussive force by the end. Really great work!

Enjoyed your gift for orchestral colors on display here...the everchanging ebb and flow, and sudden shifts keeps it interesting. The juxtapositions and turns are fascinating..the presentation is quite kaleidoscopic and variegated. I really like your use of dissonance especially in the big climax near minute 45/46. There is a lot of variety of ideas...some recycle some don't...at such length it would take a few listens to grasp all...I have a few reservations about the final 7 minutes, which have nothing whatever to do with the material or mood of anything that has gone before...it is lovely music...but for my taste it is the aural equivalent of sewing a lambs head onto the body of a lion. If it is part of a shift in the multiverse..a lack of coherence would be expected, however perhaps the right transition would make such a dramatic shift feel like an extraordinary change; as it is it is just dropped in without preparation. There is something unique in your approach to large scale form...as I have commented on previous symphonies...and there is a logic and intelligence to your insights on how the music progresses from moment to moment, but not as much in how a work progresses on the whole.

You should timestamp each and every snippet so that I know what piece I am listening to and can go back and listen to each one

I'M SO UPSET :((((((( Basically, I said that the beginning was creepy, the syncopation was amazing and sounded like Indiana Jones battling a beastly dragon with a light saber, the brass bendy things sounded literally other-worldly, and the whole thing was amazing. Unfortunately, I had timestamped everything and had significantly more detail in my original comment, but I accidentally closed the page.

Great to see this new piece Kat. A wonderful film noir panic scape. The material is always interesting and creatively explored with so many colors and sonorities. Never a dull moment in your work. You are a remarkable and gifted young composer. You will make an impact either on the concert stage or in film, I predict.
