Speaker Salvage

The process of temporary repairs to make loudspeakers useable, pending delivery of replacements. The failure of these speakers is no reflection on the design of the organ, but a consequence of the sea air and a sometimes hot humid climate.

Absolutely beautiful piece!!! Thanks for sharing!!
You always play the organ beautifully Melanie. This is a beautiful organ that I would love to play too.
Thank you Angela, for this absolutely masterful performance, organ-playing at its best! Excellent registrations and fine acoustics in Blackburn! Greetings, from Canada.
Why did thet remove the pipe organ?
I'm afraid I don't know the history in this case. All too often someone feels, often wrongly, that an electronic replacement will save money and be good enough!
@@MelaniePlumley Thanks for the quick reply. Exactly, they can't be compared to a pipe organ. Electronic, sampling, organs are ok for me in chapels of various kinds and in churches that are only used during the summer months and so on. In addition, they can be sufficient in recordings as an instrument in an orchestra, but not as a soloist. Happy New Year. Greetings from Sweden. :)
@@MelaniePlumley Aha Thank you for your quick reply.. No, they usually don't. Personally, I think you can have electric organs in various kinds of chapels and choirs that are rarely used. In addition, they can be used in orchestral works where the organ is not soloistic, I think. Happy New Year from Sweden. :)
That was absolutely wonderful Melanie. Thank you.
What a gorgeous piece. Can't believe I don't know the first two movements. I do play the Menuetto mind. Beautifully played and I loved the registrations. HNY!
Stupenda l'esecuzione del Preludio e Fuga di Bach. Grazie
Looks like another one of those mobile consoles that wobbles around all over the place.
Not entirely fair. I've never yet seen a player disappear off down to crypt, until they've left the bench!
Wow………
Great
Lovely to hear you again. Saw you last in Ludlow in Oct.
I’m very keen to maintain the flow and so count between verses, not just beats but whole bars. I tend to repeat the last 6 chords as a bridge strictly a tempo onto the next verse. They are very long verses and it gives the singers a short break between. The whole congregation starts bang on cue - no guesswork.
The last organ builder I worked for had this CD. I reckon he kept it in his office because he used it as a selling tool for any potential new clients who have never purchased an organ before. One morning, he played it while we were working. I remember when he laughed while the lowest notes of the 32' Violone were being played.
Thank you so much for this version. Solemn yet celebratory, and faithful to the traditional harmonizing that I grew up on. This reminds me of the segment in Ken Burns' history of baseball when Jesse Jackson eulogizes Jackie Robinson.
BEAUTIFUL!
I have played this hymn on all three organs I am playing at present. This beautiful organ reminds me of the two pipe organs I am playing now and love it.
Very interesting bit about soloing the melody line in the RH while taking the alto and tenor in the left; I’ve advocated this for years but hardly ever heard it done let alone recommended.
You play this organ beautifully Melanie. It would be a real pleasure if I got to play it too.

You play this organ beautifully. I would love to get on the bench after you and play all four manuals and all the pedals too. I love playing big organs.
Very Good, an excellent improvisation - shame about out of tune reeds - was it too hot?
It was a hot summertime visit.
In the footsteps of Dom Gregory Murray. Nice.
Cracking Organ Mel - I enjoyed that!
I was a chorister there 1967 - wonderful memories of the robing room, chapel and Martin, really kind man and incredible musician/teacher 😊
How would you justify playing this so fast?
Just lovely. Some modern music sounds fabulous on the pipes. This is one such piece.
This is obviously a new and important work. Thanks Melanie for sharing this great work with all of us.
Hi, may I use this recording as an accompaniment for the voice for an upcoming Liturgy of the Word?
I've only just seen this request, but yes, if it is still useful. End (or other) credit is always appreciated!
More people need to hear this, thanks
God bless!
Sounds amazing!
nice!
Wow! That took some playing. Well done!
Ha Ha!
Lovely, needed a reminder of how this went for choosing hymns.
Amazing ❤
Your beautiful playing Melanie makes any organ sound great. And you really inspire me to get on the bench and play too.
I’m sure you never met an organ you did not like Melanie. I think the same way too. It’s always great when you can get around and try them all out.
I'm afraid there are organs I don't particularly like but I'm grateful I get to play so many different ones. If an instrument serves a need then who am I to speak harshly about it? If I don't like an organ, I'm probably won't bother recording and publishing it, unless to point out some curious feature that might amuse someone.
An organ always sounds beautiful when you are playing it Melanie. I would love to make some beautiful music on it too.
