This is how I was in 2012, falling asleep while dreaming that cars would be flying in the skies of Tokyo 10 years later:

I remember back in 2013, when I was 10, I got my first ever 3ds on Christmas, and was also given MarioKart 7. I used to play it all the time when I was a kid, through every cup, every day, excited to see which custom piece I would get after each cup. But then I got to this track, the new Rainbow Road, and it was damn near a core memory of mine listening to this music and trying my hardest to get 1st place, and the first time I got it, I never forgot it. I still can't believe I'm sobbing my eyes out to this song, and I still rate 3DS Rainbow Road as my all-time top favorite track, in MarioKart 8 Deluxe especially. But the original song, NOTHING can top that level of nostalgia for me. Nothing.

Honestly, this song is worthy of its own track. Just think, a track set on the moon with twists, turns, tunnels, a lunar colony section, craters, meteorite fields, and maybe even a gliding section over a lunar ocean (you know the dark spots on the moon)

This is exactly how the enviorment was when i went to the psychward a few years ago. Its just waiting alone in yellow sunlight out of the blurry windows. Time just seems to stop, since we had no connection to the outside world. It was just waiting in a room, until its time for lunch, or movie time, or something, and maybe if we were lucky we got to play outside in the garden

I never thought anything could top N64 for best Rainbow Road theme, but this one is at least tied. And not just because it has the same "chorus." The "verse" is also magical -- and I never had a 3DS so that's not nostalgia. And yet... It kind of feels like it is anyway. That's good composing.
