In Dulce Decorum_The Damned (Instrumental version: Miami Vice II_1987)
"In Dulce Decorum" is a song by English rock band the Damned, released on 16 November 1987 by MCA Records.

I grew up in North Jersey and had exposure to the incredible WBLS and that musical experience of 1970’s NYC. But I was always fascinated by Chicago because of Ebony/Jet, Afro Sheen & Soul Train. I ended up living in Chicagoland for two years and it didn’t disappoint. I now understand how it could produce such incredible music. That city has a soulfulness that’s hard to describe✊🏾

Irving Mills -> Col. Tom Parker. Both managers were initially positive influences on their respective principal clients; but eventually both doing more harm than good. Only difference is…Duke could go out on his own because he had the savvy and know-how, whereas Elvis didn’t (and really didn’t want it, either).

The little boy's image broke my heart. All of this reminds me of all the assaults, abuses and terrors I am still going through in France. Those people violated me in every way like I wasn't a human being and are walking around like the monsters they are as if everything was alright. What an awful world I was born into as a black woman.

The Genius. Probably pound for pound the greatest singer ever. Unfortunately, when he got older, he paid his musicians poorly. Lots of friends of mine played with him and unfortunately didn’t have a lot of good things to say about how they were treated. Despite that, he’s still the greatest.

What an excellent documentary about the great Duke Ellington, I've loved his music for years but was only nine when he died, so never got to hear the orchestra live. His compositions are wonderful and timeless. He always had such top soloists, Johnny Hodges, Cootie Williams, Harry Carney, Barney Bigard, Jimmy Hamilton, Juan Tizol, Lawrence Brown and Cat Anderson being some of my favourites. I think of Ellington as the Beethoven of jazz. He was right to stick to his principles and not drift off down the be-pop route, that music quickly became tedious and self-indulgent for the most part.

We can even go into Hindu languages the oldest inform of Sanskrit and others speak of Atlantis before the fall-before that and way past where the language is lost- Intelligence is recycled. Olympic torch. The system he is creating given the time was to protect a “consciousness of a people” who having lost their languages, names and tradition- he was reminding them of Egypt to perpetuate that they come from something- to make them feel proud of themselves- All mankind are images of God.

Where was he when black kids had to enter white schools through throngs of angry, violent white adults? What did he do for the 1.4 million black teachers who lost their jobs as a result of Brown v Education? Thurgood Marshall was as useless & just a token as Clarence Thomas is today. None of C Houston’s efforts were/are beneficial to melanated Americans.

I think the main thrust behind Carlin's argument here, is not that we shouldn't try and make a healthy living space for ourselves, but to be honest that *that's* the reason we're doing it, not out of some lofty goal to 'save the planet', but more a goal to 'save ourselves from ourselves', but at the end of the day, if you do love the planet, then don't feel so distraught about what's happening now because it'll bounce back, just as good as before. Yes, it's sad for people who have grown up and loved certain species, and yes, it's wrong...un-natural even, that the die off is happening at such a rapid rate, but die-offs have happened before, at slower rates, and the climate has changed before, at slower rates, so ultimately the planet and its eco-system will bounce back. Humanity might even survive it, we're pretty tough to kill as a species. Our society, as it is right now, however, that will *not* survive. So make the most of this, as crappy as it can be, because I think we're roughly at the high point of humankind.
