Project 34: Selenium Rectifier Pre/Drive
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.6 месяцев назад
We'd like to introduce you to Project 34. 34 just so happens to be the atomic number of selenium, and at the heart of this pedal is a selenium rectifier. Selenium rectifiers are an old technology that goes back to pre-germanium times, and were first introduced in the early 1930's. They were last used in the guitar world as rectifiers in older amps such as the 1950's tweeds. Later on in the 1960...

Cusack Music - Why Make A Screamer V3?
Просмотров 3,7 тыс.Год назад
A brief history of Cusack Music. Jon Cusack talks about the Cusack Music origin story, beliefs, and mission. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Cusack Music, we have released the Screamer V3. It's the same great pedal we have always made. When we first started, it was an unfinished raw enclosure that was CNC milled. Jon Cusack focused on THE SOUND. 20 years later, the caps, the knobs, and pai...
Meet the Cusack Screamer V3
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.Год назад
Don't let the pretty finish and new knobs fool you, it's the same pedal and same sound. Huh? Well, it does actually have metal-film capacitors instead of ceramic. What's the deal with that? For 20 years, we have been making the Cusack Screamer with ceramic capacitors. We did that for a reason. Sonically, there isn't a difference between the two components. Metal film caps cost more, and don't a...

Fuzzdrive V3 vs Germanium | Cusack Screamer Fuzz Pedal Shootout
Wow! You guys have a big operation warehouse. Very entertaining tour.
Really digging my Screamer.
Fantastic!
It'd be better to me if the dials were switches and you could divide the time however you wanted. Like a step sequencer. Pretty cool pedal though. I have the Fuzzolo from ZVex and I really like it.
The fuzzolo is awesome. We have one hear that we often mess around with!
"A selenium rectifier" sounds like it uses only one. Is that correct? If so, how is it used in the circuit? I'd think that you'd need two Se rectifiers if it's used in normal context.
@stringtheoryx It's used in the feedback loop of the opamp (traditional soft-clipping). Only one is needed, it's the same as two diodes in parallel with the polarities being opposite.
@@StompBoxParts Interesting, especially in that only one is needed. Somewhere, far away, I have some old Selenium rectifiers that I had mostly inherited. I was going to try them in an OD eventually. This box seems to have some good sounds!
very cool organic tone and tune. loved it
After 10+yrs bought myself the second v2 one coz of broken volume pot (I use it for years like that) and my son stole it from me to replace old Marshall Guv'nor in his pedalboard. One of the best ever for my style of playing, works both on tubes and solid state amps, even directly to desk, from country to hard core and back. Great pedal.
What was your signal chain in this video? Love the tones
Subscribed just so I can catch more short films like this 👍
If it’s good enough for Seth Morrison it’s good enough for me
does it come in black?
A pedal that I think I would actually use.
The response has been great! The way it breaks up sounds more like an amp than a classic drive pedal.
I saw it within the 1st hour posted. Cool.
I found it on Instagram. Very cool concept.
Thumbs up if you came from JHS pedals channel.
I wish something like this existed with a tube screamer going into a green russian big muff, that is my favorite pedal combo.
CUSACK, you going to make a smaller sized version or have more controls and parameters in the version#2?
its crazy how this amazing pedal doesn't have a "trails" option (little trails of delay sounds after turning the pedal off) being a digital pedal.. THAT little thing missing is making me sell this pedal after an hour of playing :( my bad for not investigating more on that (no info on the internet) but it breaks my heart.
I just bought this pedal from Cusack at the Indian Guitar Show yesterday. I heard it demoed at the show by Joshua from Greenville Pickups so I bought it. It is definitely the Fuzz for guys who don’t like fuzz. Completely usable on its own, but you can back it down and stack it. A completely controllable overdrive/fuzz that has already lead me to new sonic places with my rig.
Just the other day I picked up the Germanium Screamer, put it in front of a high gain amp as you would a TS pedal. It totally adds “that thing”. I’m digging it.
I sure like mine for my 2 1963 twins a 61 bassman and a couple 71 jmp 50 watt marshalls, cool stacked or on its own
Glad you like it! It pairs well with most setups :)
No chicken knobs? What the heck!
A change in direction.... all things must pass.
@@CusackMusicMojoHandFX gotta give people an option….
Baller...just got a screamer on Dave Friedmans advice...to drive my vintage marshalls. Hope i love it. Killer shop. Must be a crazy smart shop manager to keep everything up and running
Jon Cusack makes it happen!
Gorgeous
Shiity demo.
Ashley the man! your well missed.
I’ve had this pedal for years and it’s still a favorite.
Outstanding! What an investment you have made in your production facility. I could get lost in there for days.
Fascinating. Thanks for the Tour!
Funny thing is, when I first got my Tap-A-Phase I used it for a whole week on the middle setting and really dug it. Then I discovered the extra resonance setting and whoo boy! It's a great box. I also love the Color control which gives much variation. Most phasers don't have that
Glad you're loving it! There's a lot it can do!
What an incredible investment in equipment! Michigan based?
Thanks! Holland, Michigan :)
Are you are subcontracting Builds for JHS? If so, it sounds like a good business decision.👍
We build for many brands :) Some we can talk about, some we can't.
Love these behind the scenes videos. Thank you. You've built a really cool operation.
Great video. Thank you for explaining so much in such an easy to understand way.
Thanks for watching!
The Selenium Fuzz I have is a forever usable art item.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It's a great pedal, wish we could make more!
Got a great sound👍
Thanks! It has a very versatile tone palette.
Some great playing here... and tones. I'm looking for an extended TS pedal and this is right up there.

Time for an update!!
You can double-click the plugin you want in that fx list of reaper if you wanna see the plugin in 1st view. Thank you for this plugin. looks cool
Cheers :) <3
Jhs brought me here too. Now it’s on my board!
Just watched the stream after getting back from work and I can NOT believe I won!! I'm baffled, I've never won anything before! I'm fascinated with the idea of using selenium in a guitar pedal. I wanted one so bad and I was very disappointed they all sold out so quick. I'm totally thrilled! Thanks so much for picking my name!
We're excited to send it to you! Let us know what you think of it. Congrats!!!
Lol Love the video announcement. Your Tap-A-Whirl and Resound are mainstays in my signal chain. Congratulations on the 20th anniversary!
Thanks! We love to hear that. Great choices ;)
Does this work in Logic?
Yes! Logic will work :) Let us know if you need help getting it going.
Will this work in Ableton or would I need to pull the audio from Ableton into Reaper?
This will work in Ableton :) We just demoed it in Reaper.
Here's a how to: ruclips.net/video/U7O9CRkrayg/видео.html
I just use a barefoot button. It also protects the pedal.
A great option to add as well!
I am not a fuzz guy, but I’m interested in adding one of these to the stable just because I dig my Cusack Screamer OD!
Jon Cusack made this pedal for non-fuzz fans. Surprisingly, he's one of them. It can really spice up your overdrive with just a splash of the LED fuzz added in.
Just got mine last night right before bedtime. 🌙 😴 🙃
Looking forward to hearing what you think of it!
@@CusackMusicMojoHandFX I think I would like to do an unboxing video, but I'm not sure how to get the audio to sound good. AND I suck. :(
@@everennui1 we'd enjoy it, no matter what :)
@@everennui1 How's your Screamer Fuzz doing?
Great demo. I personally would’ve preferred no reverb when you were talking, a dry signal would’ve really made this pedal stand out.
