Paul Gascoigne is one of the most gifted footballers England has produced, yet in a COMPLETE CAREER highlights reel he gets just under 18 minutes. Really ?
Very good player but don't be comparing him to Mbappé. Owen went to Real Madrid and was crap. For England and Liverpool, never won the biggest honors and never really got close. Had scary Pace at one stage but once that went, he wasn't same danger at all.
He was elite. Seeing Fowler talking about how he was better was laughable.
His game is beautiful to watch. Touches of genius. Powerful when charging forward with the ball, defenders can’t knock him down. He can turn the game around in flashes with lovely turns and dribbles
Magnificent player at peak. Shame about his personality and brain though.
What a terrible compilation, didn't even include the goal against Argentina, or the winner against CIty when he played for United! Going by this, he really wasn't that good then, and actually he wasn't, overall.
Had a bad day? Replying negativley to other comments as well - what a strange guy. This was about his Ballon d'Or season and only that season, so no those goals were not included
My french friend used to ban using Owen on the earlier PES games, because it was unfair.
Owen between 1997-2001 was one of my favourite players. Until he scored the two goals against us in the 2001 F. A Cup final anyway.

the first time I saw him was at WC 98. his goal against Argentina is still one of the best I ever seen
Lol. no it wasnt. it was a nice goal, but its not even among his 10 best goals. No idea why the English go on about that goal so much. Important goal on big stage yes. One of the bests goals ever seen? so far from it its laughable. He beats one player and then scores...thats all.
While I love Owen, I find it amazing that he never reached 20 league goals in a season, nor 30 goals in a season overall.
That's probably got more to do with the standard of players around him. Heskey..? In a better Liverpool side, he'd score way more.

Think the defence was a lot more physical then than now. We’re many players scoring 25/30 goals. We did a lot of excellent strikers back then, Shearer, Cole, Owen, Ferdinand, Phillips, Sutton to name a few

Over rated
Hasn’t been a striker like him. In his prime he was as good as anyone at that time. I remember going away to work in Egypt and all the locals there because I was English were calling me Micheal Owen 😂 because that’s what they related England with back in 2001. That’s how big he was on the world stage. I’m A Newcastle fan as well
I would try Amad as a striker. I think him and Rasmus would be deadly.

As a Man Utd & England fan it breaks my heart still that Gazza did not join Alex Feguson in 1988 at Man Utd. I'm convinced that Fergie and Man Utd would have looked after him and stopped him getting into all the bother he ended up getting into and all the problems and injuries.
