New?? Have you been hiding under a rock for the last several decades?? They were doing this when I was a kid and that was over 50 years ago. It may be new to your area, but it's not a new method. It works best when everyone stays home and allows them to do their job. It's practically useless in gridlocked traffic, as momentum is needed for it to work properly. The momentum allows the blade to THROW the snow(physics) instead of just PUSH it. Throwing it is necessary, because just pushing it will eventually create a wall over time and then you start losing lanes because you've run out of room to push it. I know this from over 30 years of doing it with my private business(general grounds maintenance) doing driveways and parking lots. I have been called upon before to help out road crews in my area, but the last time was way back in 1990-something. If you like high stress situations, this is the job for you!! lol It's fun, in my opinion, but very stressful dealing with everyone else being in the way.
