I already had a Mac and didn't want to spend $3k on a dedicated rig, so my choice was made for me. That said, I want my sim so I can learn how to fly. That means solid flight model and accurate scenery for VFR. XP plus clumsy scenery mods seems like the way to go, but really XP should make good imagery far easier to integrate.

for MFS Airbus did you manage do calibrate Trust? Its very small gab to REV.. mine does not work or I dont know how to do it properly on a tablet.

Did you had issue with Captain camera? I bought this stick and now my PMDG 777 has "Fish Eye" effect, its very annoying

Dumb question: can you lower the friction all the way so that the throttle doesn’t move if you have it sit on the desktop? On my NXT EVO, the pads work great to keep the stick on the desk.

By the way i think that x-plane mobile has more players than xp12. I have xp mobile but it’s really not that great and the only planes that are really realistic is a330-300 and boeing 737-800 all the rest (of airliners) don’t even have cockpit sounds like for switching buttons or even having interctuve cockpits A320’s cockpit looks like it’s made of lego idk why they don’t remake cockpits since it wouldn’t be even hard they can just take the xp12 airplanes and adapt it to add them in the mobile version it would’ve probably killed the mobile flight sim market and became the number 1 since the concurrence (exept aerofly) doesn’t even has interactive cockpits and they would’ve at least been the number 1 flight sim on mobile so they are the best some where to gain money and then being able to develop their game on PC to compete with msfs (other thing they can do is adding xp12 to playstation since msfs is never gonna add their game to PS)

Everyone has preferences but for me I planned to use MSFS and Xplane, but Xplane quickly got no use so it got uninstalled and now I only use MSFS. I personally find it a huge step up

Honestly, as someone who dabbles in both but uses MSFS more, I'd say it's down to accessibility. The barrier of entry for MSFS is significantly lower. Even out of the box you already get decent sattelite scenery (most of the time), the default aircraft, while not study level, are still pretty decent for a beginner (and still offer all the navigation tools to perform IFR flights) especially the newer ones like the inibuilds airbuses, you can get online functionality without needing to hop on vatsim and the like, and most importantly, it is optimized to be pretty flyable on just a gamepad, meaning you also don't have the cost barrier of a joystick at least to get started. Of course, if you want to get a more realistic experience with either sim you're gonna have to buy hardware and software/addons besides the base sim, but I think the low barrier of entry of MSFS as well as it's more "gamified" nature (with missions, flight lessons and landing challenges) make it a much less intimidating sim to get into. Besides, you can always move to x-plane after you feel comfortable enough going for a more 'engineer-minded" simulation.

My brother in flight, the two metal knobs in front of the throttles are for the throttle resistance. You can make it so light that the throttle doesn't stay upright. No reason to move your table when throttling up :D

Xplane 12 is far superior than MSFS.

X-Plane 12 looks surprisingly good with the 12.1 update but it's never going to look quite as good as MSFS. Arguably 12.1 looks better than 2020 does right now, but when MSFS 2024 comes out I'm sure the graphics will blow it out of the water. Where X plane still shines and always will is when you cant see anything out the window because you're flying IFR. X-Plane was originally developed as an IFR training sim and it shows to this day that IFR accuracy and procedures are the priority. I fly both but find myself only flying MSFS when i want to hop into something with cartoonish performance like their version of the F/A-18 with no real g limit and just fly around and look at the beautiful photogrametry. If I want to fly like I would irl its X plane hands down. I know that's what everyone says, but that's because its kinda true.

MSFS only leads in graphics. Xplane will always be better in flight model.

The differentiating factor is whether you want eye candy or accurate flight mechanics

the rudder in MSFS 2020 is so-so,as i found it very hard to control on the ground -especially on high speeds.

fyi you can set up a separate button for the middle position of the gear switch in the vkbs config software

The accuracy of the Turtle Beach sensors is terrible. Don't swap the TCA for that for anything.

Hard to find a review with such a large majority of comments that disagree with the author. All the author's dozens of loaded-up trash talk language and negative word choices against X-Plane just reveal personal bias. Does not make those statements accurate, fair, or valid. This entire piece could have been better done by simply singing "Eye Candy is Everything to Me" over and over and over all the way through the 5+ minutes of screen shots. A proper review includes the importance of flight physics. In sum, MSFS is great for flight entertainment. X-Plane excels in flight model accuracy and especially in support of real world training in GA aircraft. Just read the comments of real world pilots in dozens of YT comparison reviews that consistently emphasize this point.

Comparing XP 12 to MSFS on Twitch is idiotic. 100% wrong method. XP 11/12 pilots are busy flying not streaming flying over their house on MSFS. Also comparing play hours on Steam is wrong too. Most XP 11/12 users users use standalone from Laminar Research website. And most MSFS users use MSFS on Xbox store platform. So comparing only on Steam and Twitch gives very wrong data. Also

The numbers being compared here are subjective and say absolutely nothing about which simulator is more realistic. If the general public just wants to sim from time to time without placing great value on more realistic flight behavior, etc., the result will be as in your video. But that says absolutely nothing about which simulator is better in terms of realistic flight behavior. For example, I place more value on the realism of the simulator's flight behavior, which is why I chose X Plane for myself, even though I also spent a few hours in MSFS. I also spent a few hours in a Cessna 172 and know the real flight behavior during certain maneuvers. X Plane simply depicts this behavior more realistically than MSFS, that is the harsh reality. So the result of this video is absolutely subjective and says nothing.

Xplane 12 for me. It's like Coke and Pepsi, you can have both if you want but ultimately you prefer one over the other. Coke is for the masses ( FS2024) Pepsi is for the sophisticate ( xplane 12).

I fly in real life and i have both of them. And xplane doesn't fell as a real plane... But that's the same thing in msfs. So take msfs

One big difference nobody talks about (well 3 actually). Xplane 12 loads on my PC in 8 seconds. MSFS loads with (cut-down) addons in 8 minutes. If I load all my addons, it's over 20 minutes. Sometimes, after waiting for that long load, MSFS will crash even just on the World map. Xplane seems more stable. I have Xplane 11 loaded on my second (Linux) PC in another room. It also will work on my Mac too. Littlenavmap works on all 3 platforms, but MSFS of course only works on Windows. I get better more consistent frame-rate on Xplane.
