As I am sure we all know, mythologies show evidence of regional variations that can sometimes be quite different. Then of course we are talking about periods of hundreds of years, which changes things. Anat is definitely very violent and does match Yahweh to some extent, and I believe there are even a couple of people with theophoric names of Anat in the Bible. That said, she is a tier down on the hierarchy of the pantheon, so it would be weird to have her linked with Yahweh once he supplants El so to speak.

You are right that fraud is always a possibility, especially with wild stories that can't be independently verified. That is why my whole approach in the video and my book was to extract the common elements and see if they can be recreated without having to get near death. I do think that these can help you live a happier life. As far as death is concerned and anesthesia, I think the core question is about the nature and origin of consciousness. We need to get a stronger grasp on what it is. I would read the Penrose-Hameroff theory of Orch-OR for explaining consciousness, as it specifically discusses anesthesia and microtubule structures within neurons.

Are Baptists true Christians, or Lutherans or Catholics or Greek Orthodox? It depends upon which group you are talking to I suppose, but most scholars would be comfortable discussing all of those under a video on Christianity. The same applies to Satanism under the largest umbrella. Your chosen version is one valid option, but so are others.

First of all thank you for the long reply! It will only help other atheists come across the video and be exposed to other options. As to your points...You referenced Lennox and cherry picking quotes and the straw man fallacy, but you then admitted to only listening to 8 minutes of my video. Do you not see the glaring issue there? I am not a classical theist or Christian, by the way, and I as much as say that later in the video. In no way am I attempting to push a view on the afterlife one way or the other in this video, so you may well be correct that we simply cease to exist. As far as Buddhism is concerned, all forms falling under Hinayana, Mahayana and Vajrayana discuss either pure lands or heavenly lokas or realms within the wheel of samsara. The religion of Buddhism as practiced by most everyday believers shares a lot of the elements you do not like about Western monotheisms like heavens and hells, a future savior figure like Maitreya and veneration of relics. Nirvana means "non-drawing," as in, the three poisons that fuel the wheel of samsara at its center are all extinguished. You still exist in this world like a fan turned off that has residual activated motion until parinirvana takes hold later. My primary point was to illustrate that the arguments used by atheists, such as the problem of evil, are directed against classical forms of theism and that they do not hold up against polytheism and panentheism, to name just two. You need different arguments to defeat different forms of theism and I am claiming that you and other self- proclaimed atheists should create those arguments and then engage with alternative forms of theism before claiming the title of atheist. That was all. I think it is a fair ask and I do not think you need to read all of the sophisticated theologians out there, but maybe a couple! Lastly, I definitely do not think Dawkins would ever be a believer in any form of theism...although it would certainly allow him to write another best-selling book before passing away! I still hold to agnosticism as I defined it because I did say I was giving a very literal translation from the Greek and not so much what might be the most commonly used form of today. With all of this said, I do like your general stance on life and I agree that it does not mean one has to embrace a self indulgent form of hedonism.

I am saying that in the 1st-3rd centuries some Christian forms of Gnosticism did not believe that Jesus was a flesh and blood being, but rather a purely spiritual being and hence, they denied the incarnation, which was critical for proto-orthodoxy. This is why 1 John and 2 John warn against believing these "anti-Christs" plural. It is plural because many people could hold to this heretical notion which is known as docetism.

The best reference recently is David Bentley Hart's work which highlights the real meaning of key Greek terms in the NT. Anyhow, if heaven is only for some people, then will you actually be happy and loyal to a God that is content punishing those that you loved you so dearly for eternity? How can heaven be joyful and the people in heaven anything other than sadistic if they rest content with so many souls in ETERNAL agony? The Buddhist concept of the bodhisattva who won't rest until all sentient beings are awakened/freed from suffering seems far more compassionate and less hypocritical.

@@ToTwoTruth I apologise if my English seemed awkward. I am Australian, so not all translators see my English as the Queens English. The thing that really gets me about Satanism is the view that the true Creator is somehow “less than” to one of his own creations, Lucifer/Satan. There is a Creator. How people view Him is up to debate. I personally subscribe to the Intelligent Design theory. I do not reject science, just to be clear. What I cannot fathom is how anyone could look at the Universe, CREATION, and say that there is no God. On the other hand, I fully know that Lucifer (aka Sammiel), lead humans astray after the temptation of Eve. As the snake/serpent said, He questioned the promises of God. He questioned how humans could die, which we know full well we do. He questioned that we would know good from evil. Well, Satanism is evil. That we know. Following the “wisdom” of the serpent caused all kinds of evil in our world. Including death. The serpent deceived us. While we thought we were acquiring “godhood”, we were dying. Only Jesus Christ gives us life. Life beyond death. I know, personally, that chasing immortality results in despair. You can keep chasing immortality, which the occult loves to build. But in the end, it is futility.

That being said, radical christianity or Islam can be pretty horrific too...I wish there was a way to bring back honor culture amongst men without all the nonsense.
