the trick is to cover the whole canvas with white gesso first it helps the paint thin and spread easier. if you pay attention to the beginning of the video he says the canvas is already covered in white gesso or liquid white

that intro was awesome I used to watch Bob, actually got that same Ross dvd paint set at 16 yrs old and started painting. got pretty good at it. sold all of my paintings.
