Seth, I love that you chose to go with your existing truck and not go into debt and Rangers are awesome little trucks. However, I want to urge you to be very careful with the weight. The older Rangers have very narrow wheelbases and are super prone to rollovers. Do not under any circumstances exceed the payload of the truck (including you and the weight of your gear) and be sure to beef up the suspension and tires to handle the extra load. Stay safe dude and keep doing your thing!

Don't listen to people that don't have any ev experience, they literally don't know what they are talking about. That being said, you would probably be better off with a rivian or f150 lightning to camp with if you want a truck ev. I have a lightning right now and I have a love hate relationship with it but it's mainly because of Ford not keeping promises when they sold it to me. With that said, I've camped for a few months in my lighting and it was a neat experience. I always had 220v 30 amp power in my trunk bed so I had my fridge freezer with me. Also the att wifi hot spot works really well. Both the f150 and the rivian can charge on the tesla supercharger network so you don't really have to worry about charging. Also, there are tons of places that will let you level 2 charge for free. So when i doordash in my truck, i don't pay to drive it. I also didn't have to pay to camp in it because you're able to park overnight at most level 2 chargers. Ultimately when an ev comes out that's surburban sized, I'm gonna get that, take the rear seats out of it and travel around in it. From my experience in north dakota, don't get anything less than 105kwh for battery size. If you get the lightning, there are some nice tent/canvas options available for the 5.5' box, one of them being fastop and it's made here in north dakota so it can handle extreme weather. The rivian will have a lot more aftermarket camping support given their client base. Anyways, i wouldn't be afraid of doing what you do in an ev. Just check out the trip planners etc and see what fits your habits. Abrp, plugshare, the tesla app etc. Message me if you wanna talk about it more.

I built my first house with cash and no experience when I was 28. I started the project with $1,000 to my name and spent the whole wad on the pumphouse and driveway. Since my income was only a $5.89 per hour job my friends and family said it couldn't be done. After 3 years I had a 2,000 square foot, 2 story built with just insulation on the inside and functioning bath and kitchen. You will discover your biggest critics are those who are too afraid to step out of their own safety circle.
