Pacific Northwest Exposed
США
Добавлен 7 июн 2018
Hello.
This channel is more or less a vlog. It consists of exploring and journaling the Pacific Northwest through photography and videography with special emphasis on the Olympic Peninsula.
I have developed a passion for adventure and exploration in my own back yard, and enjoy sharing it with those who are not as fortunate to live in a place like this. It may also be of interest to those who are familiar with the Olympic Peninsula, but may not have explored it much.
I don't discuss the more technical aspects of photography, as the market is saturated with photography vlogging. Instead, my intent is to explain and capture the beauty in which I find myself in.
Thanks for watching.
Ed

Lake of the Angels and Beyond. Full Vlog.

Two days and two nights at lake of the Angels and then a day hike to Hagen Lake and beyond. Olympics. This is dedicated to my good friend David who was willing to split the load of the bear can and encouraged me along the way on this difficult climb when I hit the wall a couple of times. Thank you David.

Royal Solstice Part 2
Просмотров 2314 дней назад
Having spent the night at Upper Royal Basin and arriving just at the beginning of the Summer Solstice the day before, the next morning I awakened early to catch the alpenglow on Mount Deception and the surrounding peaks. I then made my way back down to re-visit Royal Falls before leaving. Royal Basin, Olympic National Park. Correction: My old Canon 6D is paired with the Sigma 24-105, not 25-105...

Returning to Upper Royal Basin for the Beginning of the summer solstice 2024. I have visited this place countless times. After each trip I tell myself that I need not visit it again, but come spring of every year it is as if it calls again. Royal Basin, Olympic National Park. Part one of the full vlog.

I blasted up to Royal Basin Thursday and arrived at the top just as the Summer Solstice began. I spent the night there with the basin to myself as is usually the case and made my way out the following morning. Full vlog to come.

Thank you so very much.
I appreciate you. Thank you again.
nice catch
Thanks buddy. I recently picked up the OM-1 System. The stock lens that came with it is 12-60. I am not a wildlife photographer, but I am thinking of another lens for such occurrences. I really like the video capability of this camera. I have always shot in 10-bit, or D-log M with my drones etc. I shot this in 10-bit but had to apply my own LUT's as I can't find a set of LUT's for the OM-1 yet. Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
Subscribed to you. Thank you.
I am now watching you. Can't seem to enter live. I really appreciate your mention. I really appreciate it.

this is one of my most favorite areas in the Olympics i need to get back there
@Stone-Wolf-Outdoors Thanks! I had not done it before. I hit the wall a couple times. The final 1/3 to LOA in the dark, and then making our way back from Hagen in the heat of the afternoon. Yes, gorgeous country. Thanks man.
@@Stone-Wolf-Outdoors My buddy put up a nice trip report on WTA for both LOA and Hagen, Lake Valentine from LOA. It's a good read.
@@pacificnorthwestexposed4632 i camped below the lake last time because it was dark so the next day we went up to the LOA then up to the top of Skokomish next day went fishing at Hagen no luck on the fish lol
@@pacificnorthwestexposed4632 will check it out
@Stone-Wolf-Outdoors I know. Dead lake. Valentine was full though.
Very nice. Very nice.
Thanks Buddy.
Gorgeous place (the waterfall)! Love that bridge - will you brave one of those gaps? I don't dare to dare you :-)
Thank you very much. Just tuned up all my apps and broke out the FPV after putting it away since all the remote ID stuff. Back to the simulator also. Getting up the courage.
Nice adventure they are out there if we explore right out in are back yards thank you happy hunting for more in the Pacific Northwest 🇺🇸
Thank you. I appreciate the comment.
Beautiful area, nice close ups, soothing music.
Thank you very much. trying to take to the sky again. :}
Brilliant photography that captures why I'm so grateful to live in the PNW!
Exquisite work Ed! Beautiful videography and music---so very peaceful and relaxing.
Thank you Barbara.
Pretty flowers. I love spring time. That was a nice trubute at the end too.
Thank you. No one would understand. Thank you for noticing.
Extremely excited about my Rhodes to bloom I have 356 plants in my yard. Thanks for sharing
That sounds wonderful! Thanks for watching.
Nice job. Fyi, at 1:47 it looks to be like the video is upside down. Pretty footage and editing
Thank you. Yes, that is correct. :}
I’m not going to name this one, but I know where it is. Took me a bit to confirm, but I definitely want to get in there. No trails (except for climber trail?) I’m guessing. When I looked at the climbers guide and online climbing reports, sounded like a bit of a scramble. I’d be in it for the lake rather than the peak. But yeah, definitely want to go there. Are you ok if I get your number from Dean W.? There is another off trail lake I really want to get to (use the description for the climbing route) but I don’t want to give the world any ideas. I’m wanting to find some difficult access spots where solitude can be found.
Sounds good buddy. With the minimal snowpack this year it looks like we will be up for an early start for elevation. We do need the snow though. Just looing at the upside. Sure! get my #. Let's Keep in touch.
Hi Ed, When you mentioned breakfast, I thought of this. Not sure if you are vegetarian or like vegetarian food, but if you do, check out Harmony House Foods. I got the Savory Sampler mix (a little of everything WITH the seasonings already added) and have really enjoyed the ones I tried. Lots of variety with plant based protein. I put it in my Hydropeak Food Jar (Amazon has them cheap) and add boiling water. The jar really holds in the heat and I have no trouble at all getting the meals to be completely cooked. In fact, at Buckhorn Lake last summer, I added the water, put the lid on, and spent 45 minutes exploring the lake. When I opened the jar, I still had to blow on every bight to cool it down. Leafside also had some pretty good vegetarian (vegan) meals. Nice video BTW. May be the first I’ve seen with that lake I won’t mention the name of. I’ve been wanting to explore that area. How do you find that the crowds compare to other areas of the Olympics?
Thank you! Some of this is off trail of course. Not a soul around, which is most often the case on this corner of the range. We just ran onto one guy at one lake and that was it. Thanks for the tip. I will check it out.
Awesome!
Nice way to make the most of other plans falling through (if this was this past weekend). I’m guessing SW Olympics?
Watching this while waking up to head up the Tubal Cain Trail. What planning on joining you and Dean this weekend at Hagen Lake, but not quite in shape enough just yet to haul a heavy pack up the Putvin Trail. Hope you guys are having a great time as I write this!
Very nice! Music fit it perfectly as well.
Beautiful. Ed, nice to see you here. I am camping at Buckhorn lake next week and this video came to me. Nice!
So peaceful
I want a drone so bad! They can fly uphill so I don't hafta hike uphill 😀
I have a question, can the pilot wearing the goggles hear what the drone is hearing?
Found your channel while looking up the Upper Dungeness. Watched a few of your videos and thought you look familiar.Did you used to work at Capital Medical Center?
Interesting. Thanks for watching. Staff or pt there?
Good eye for recognition. Checking out your channel. Thanks again.
@@pacificnorthwestexposed4632 I worked as a lab assistant back then. I called the Willis’s to confirm and it seems like you are the same Ed I remember.
@Whimpus Patheticus Yes. I remember you as well. Great! Glad to see you are doing well. Nice vids.
@@pacificnorthwestexposed4632 Thanks! It mostly kicked off when we started kayaking and I discovered iMovie provided theme music. I only liked a couple of them (the music, that is) but then I got the idea that I could purchase and use other music. So I started with the music videos. Came across a couple other RUclips channels (Mountain Wanderer and Hiking With Justin) and started doing a more videos with hiking. I’ve slowly been getting better at videoing. Wish I’d done a little better with the stop and stare footage of Swamp Creek. Too many scenes in the video I want to gaze at and take in but it then cuts out to other footage. It took a while for me to finally realize it, but the zoom ins don’t work that well. What I found does work is to get a wide shot for about 6-10 seconds, stop recording, zoom in, and then get a zoomed shot for 6-10 seconds. At any rate, it’s an enjoyable learning experience for me. I just hope my sprained ankle heals up in time for me to get a trip or two in before my surgery at the end of May.
Beautiful! It's that time

Surprise - seeing my dearling! Pretty scenery, man and nature :)
I love this - it's a "feel good" video, one that can be watched over and over to calm my own "storms" as I await God's "calm".
Nice camera work love the moving shots
