I don’t think this movie was aimed at kids, more so maybe 12-15 possibly 16 year olds, but even then I don’t think it’s made for anyone tbh

@@Miles_G_Reviews Agreed. It feels like he will slap his name on anything to make a buck now and he is Jack Black in every movie now. When he was in the Jackyl, he was that character, same with Shallow Hal and School of Rock. But lately, it feels like he is taking the Duane Johnson approach to being himself in every movie and that's yikes because be yourself is usually good advice. haha

As much as I hate waiting a year to see part 2, it means we get to grow up with the characters. There is a pretty large time gap between the first and second act and as a result the wait between films will only further that passage of time.

I have the same worries bc I’d say a good 90% of part 2’s or 3’s (depending on how they want to split it) do tend to be just pay off so hopefully Jon M Chu is able to stick the landing on not just being a continuation but also be able to make it have a proper flow that sticks the landing

I never thought it would make a billy however the last couple of weeks have made think it could, it would all have to depend on what the drop off is thanksgiving weekend ! I hope you and your brother come out enjoying it! It’s beautiful to see on the big screen!

@ I think Moana 2 can hit a billion, it’s the most streamed movie, I think people have been wanting more, the reason why I’ll give it a 30% chance that it doesn’t hit a billion is because the review embargo doesn’t lift till Tuesday before the first showing (not sure if it’s true or not) but I don’t think the reviews good or bad would impact Moana 2 as much as like joker 2 or other not so good movies that have bombed this year

@ I heard a lot of people was upset at Joker 2 cuz it wasn’t really bout the beloved Batman’s villain from the comics it’s really bout some clown makeup guy with serious mental illness wasn’t the Joker anyway prove that end of the movie lost so much money at the box office barely beat The Marvels at the global box office seen the Marvels on Disney plus not good little bit better than Captain Marvel but not much did like Ms Marvel in the Marvels the Actress done a good job but still couldn’t save the film

@ that’s honestly something I never understood, maybe a lot of people didn’t see the theories after joker came out but Arthur not being the true joker didn’t surprise me at the end of Folix A Deux & I was surprised that a lot of people came out surprised at that reveal

Oh okay! I was thinking earlier about what part 2 is going to be like knowing that the wicked witch doesn’t die at the end…maybe but now I’m a little more interested to see how they tackle part 2!

I’ve only seen her in the live action Pinocchio and widows & I vaguely remember the latter, but she was really good in here

@@Miles_G_Reviews 2 hours and 30 minutes with a 15-minute intermission between the two acts, so that's 2 hours and 45 minutes. The first act, which this movie is based on, is 1 hour and a half.

@@Miles_G_Reviews That's the length of the movie if it adapted all of the musical at the same time, not the length of the original musical. Jon said that he doesn't want to cut out any elements of the musical while still expand on and dive deeper into the story, hence the 4 hours statement, and hence why there are two movies, with this one adapts Act I of the Broadway show, while part 2 adapts Act II. See how the movie's runtime is almost as long as the entire musical despite only draws from Act I?

I feel the same way, I’m hoping that his new A24 movie can bring us the rock we got in faster, walking tall and snitch but whenever he’s attached to a PG-13 action movie, it’s like Netflix, you know what to expect!

I don’t think I have a favorite childhood “scary” movie, maybe the DCOM’s on Disney like the Halloweentown movies and underwraps

It is, another one that kinda had a short career (at least to me) is Amy smart, I know she’s done some small things here and there but the last time I heard of her was in the crank movies

Agreed!! And while I won’t watch it again, I love the ambitious swings this movie takes, we need more movies to take huge swings wether they work or not, I’ll always appreciate them for the risks !

The one I got mad at was “wish upon” and I just remembered about that one 😅

The only 2 good things I’ve seen her in is the conjuring & the act, she keeps choosing these awful Netflix movies bc she has a first look deal with them so she’s pretty much choosing to do them, not sure if that’s the only thing that’s coming across her desk but if it’s not she needs to start picking other things outside the YA genre that at this point is pretty much a dead genre

Actually I think she just has a lot of pull with Netflix now and I think she told them because I remember her saying it was one of her favorite series. So I think she played it to the best of her ability. Let's remember that McG also helped developed Shadowhunters and that TV show was a hot mess (from what I saw, I never finished it), as an adaptation compared to the first movie.

@@bigonbooks4736 I didn’t know McG developed that show, I never found it all that appealing which isn’t saying much bc most of the Freeform shows don’t look appealing, I think they just needed better talent behind the scenes to put it nicely 😅

The dystopian era was so long ago and the only reason Hunger Games is still a big hit is because it deals with relevant topics and the author is giving (somewhat) giving the fans the books they want (in terms of what prequel books we want, I don't think anybody wanted a Snow one).

@@RIVAS2004 to me every movie ever made is a cash grab but literally not even 5 seconds into the year they had a trailer, a poster and like 2 movies and a video game ready to go! I thought they would have released this like sometime earlier in the year, not halfway through it, I had completely forgotten about it !

This is a movie that deserves all the support it can get, it might not work for everyone but whenever a filmmaker takes a swing and can hit a home run, I will sing it’s praises till I’m blue in the face !

@@Miles_G_Reviews I totally agree with you and I was just thinking how 2024 seems to be the year of the "different" movie lol between Longlegs Cuckoo Blink Twice and now Strange Darling it is refreshing that mainstream Hollywood is willing to take a chance and promote more zany offbeat movies and are finally recognizing movie going audiences are interested in movies outside of Marvel lol I am a huge fan of weird movies myself so I have no doubt this is right up my alley and like you said I appreciate filmmakers who are willing to do something different in my opinion that is what art is all about

@@Model_Roe I 100% agree, I haven’t seen cuckoo yet I was gonna try to have a double feature with strange darling but I was too tired from my double feature the day before and I’m so curious about blink twice but even with movies like late night with the devil, yeah you got your tarots & strangers chapter 1 but I think 2024 will go down (for me anyways) as one of the most interesting year for low budget horror movies, I never expected to see Longlegs do the numbers it did!

@@Miles_G_Reviews Yes Cuckoo is getting mixed reviews it seems like popular is divisive on it lol like some people love it I've seen a lot of people drag it online but as someone into art house more offbeat movies I think it'll be right up my alley
