So this is my relatively new Fairdale weekend or nomad that I just couldn’t keep my hands off and had to make it my own. I started out by saying I’ll just throw a pair of bars on it, but it quickly morphed into something well beyond that and right now, I think I’m done the only thing that’s me for right now is maybe a rear rack And one of those killer Brooks saddles.
Lets talk about the Fairdale Weekender Nomad and why I got one #bicycle #gravelbike #newbikeday

4130 Chromoly goodness, a RAD company with a great vibe....Yeah that's Fairdale. I wanted a gravel / explorer bike that was different from the BIG BOXES and not a Surly ..... I fell in love with Fairdale ... Take a watch and hear me talk about why I decided on this whip

So those that are in the no know that I had a rather unique life of event happen in more than one way I had a cardiac event back in December. Some life changes that happened since and before and well I think I’ve been doing the work to make myself a better human a better man and a better individual for myself. #mountainbike

Lake Fairfax Pump and Jump. Learning to FLY
Doesn't the "more supple on the top end" make it bob more when climbing though? I assume it voids the lifetime frame warranty as well?
How does it compare to the Ripmo AF you had?
@@Moab12 different bike and the jury is out but from the times that I’ve been out on the bike it pedals extremely well climbs like it’s on tracks and descends like a magic carpet, but remember it’s a full Enduro bike
In the short time that I had on it, I noticed that it cornered really well. Also u need to take that thing to some proper DH tracks & let it eat!!
I'll definitely be taking it to some DH tracks! The bike is so fun to ride
@@themiddleagemasher8108 come out to Angelfire or Big Sky this year with me.
Where did u bought it ?
@@mike_b.i.g was a Amazon purchase
@@themiddleagemasher8108 Could you send me how this item is called ?
How much did the stock bike weigh?
@@Mizi08 I honestly really don’t know. I’m guessing somewhere in the same ballpark I didn’t really put on any really lightweight stuff.
How much does the bike weigh?
My search engine doesn't support image transfer but it is literally like looking at its twin including color and decals! Only difference visually is the electric components on mine and perhaps mine is a bit taller because I set it up that way because I am 6'5". Cool to see such an exact match
Love ur bike so much that I have it's twin!! Only differences are that I converted mine to electric with a 72v motor, a 3000w battery and a 5th element rear air shock with a titanium coil! Otherwise virtually identical! Let's see if I can figure out how to add an image
How tall are you?
@@walterm814 5’11
Does the large feel comfortable for you? I’m also 5’11 debating on a medium or large.
@@walterm814 I love the large size. It’s like a 58 cm or so. I typically ride a 56 but on a touring bike fun bike I went with the bigger size and I don’t regret it.
What settings are you using and what camera is that one? Thanks 🙏🏼 Nice trail!
Thank you for showing the complete ride here. I am a beginner and wanted to try this trail but every other video I see shows only part of the ride and half the time the people end up getting lost.😄
Have you tried this trail already? Im planning to ride here and just looking For someone to ride with..
Might have missed it but what crank and bottom bracket combo did you use for it?
Pure Fun, excitement and Fitness.
Awesome style. My father used to race these bikes and as a kid I always loved them. Now I own 4 Intense Classics. Two Uzzi SL, an Uzzi SLX, and a tracer all from that time period. Amazing bikes.
I love this bike especially one with MX bars. A little bit bit too high priced in my opinion
Looks so clean and simple awesome bike, looking to buy my brother and I a pair to build. Would you happen to have any promo codes for the frame?
Unfortunately I don’t but check out @camdwyer on the insta
I have that same top tube bag, but with the flappy cover. We'll have to do a bikepacking trip! I *think* I have all my gear....
Yea I got none lol but I can make it happen
Been riding a weekender archer (chose for the flat bar as don’t get along w drops) for the past 2 years and love it. The main things I wish were different on the weekender were through axles and would love a bit more tire clearance, got some 2.25’s on there at the min which just about fit as long as the wheels are running true, but would be nice to go up to 2.4-2.5. In retrospect I probably should’ve gone with the mx model for the drivetrain upgrades but the cheaper microshift stuff has treated me pretty well.
Thru axles would be killer. I think a 142 spaced rear would be nice as well ( more hub options) but all in all a hella fun bike to ride!!
Was looking for something exactly like this, lo and behold, relatively inexpensive bike company making good stuff in my city?? Curious though why you specifically wouldnt want a Surly for the same job though
I wanted something different. I like unique
If you had the chance to compare side by side Fairdales are built with lighter steel tubing than Surly. Makes for a more lively fun ride. I have both and was only thinking about touring loads for the Surly so stout tubing made sense.
@@m.talley1660I’ve ridden both and I do like both but the Fairdale is even more unique than having a Surly. Like I mentioned I like unique stuff
My first Nomad was a 2018, should have never sold it. I do have a Nomad Mx now with the flat bars. Looking to get into another drop bar bike again. These Faidales are really slept on in the gravel bike world.
I'm a roadie and got in a rut. Started going off road and it gave me a new enthusiasm for cycling again. There aren't that many trails near where I live but it's nice to be able to mix it up whenever I feel.
absolutely !!! ride a bike everyday and just grin ear to ear
I think everybody needs a gravel bike exploration/cruising/adventure machine.
Yes I agree everyone needs 4 bikes, Mtb, Dj, gravel and road!!
Yea dude!!!
Get the Banshee Prime and move back to AZ. Don't over think stuff. You'll feel better😮🎉

Appreciate the shoutout man!!! Bike turned out great! 😁😁😁
Any time!
What length spokes did you have to use on the wheels
158mm everywhere
DO NOT BUY A PROMASTER!!! These are the biggest piles of $hit on the road.
What do you recommend
Broo sooooo nice 🤤
Thanks 😋
Works good even with the air shock?
Yes!!
Good stuff dude!!
I keep an engine block in mine. Are you coming back to AZ?👊😒👍
I’m 66yo with a very similar situation. Been riding for over 40 years both rode and MTB. I’m also a Chiropractor with a lot of sports injury experience. It’s a known fact chronic aerobic athletes have afib more often then non athletes. I sense your trepidation with pushing your heart after the ablation procedure which is perfectly normal. First, you should be speaking with you EP to create a schedule for getting back on the bike. Let your heart recover, at least a few months before pushing yourself to allow the heart swelling to go down. During this time just keep your HR well below your max. Ride easy. Listen to your body. If you need to take a day off then do it. Slowly increase the time and intensity of your rides. You’ll gain confidence that you’re not going to die during or after a ride as you have repeated experience of elevating your HR without issue. I’m 10 months post ablation and back to riding road and MTB on my non e-bike. I developed pericarditis post ablation which forced me to take it easy. The point here is the ablation, if it got all the areas of aberrant signals, is a structural correction of the abnormal signaling. Although it scars your heart these areas do not structurally weaken your heart muscle and you can return to cycling without fear. Now here’s the caveat: I am not a cardiologist! I am relating my personal experience as a patient with more than average knowledge on human physiology and this should not be used as medical advice for your particular situation. I don’t believe there is data on athletes post ablation to substantiate what I’ve experienced. Too many times I read comments from people without specific experience and it’s taken as factual. This is not that. I want to encourage you to give your body a chance to heal and slowly return to your prior activities.
Absolutely,,,, I’m taking it easy and meeting with the EP and cardio folks for a let’s get back at it plan !!
Was the jab worth it?
You obviously didn’t watch the whole video on if I ever was vaccinated….
Glad you’re on the mend.. my little brother had some heart issues it was scary going through it with him..
Yo, YT decoy's are pretty cheap...hope you get better!
Do you like how they perform? I know some of the Wreckless guys ride them out in So.Cal
@@themiddleagemasher8108 Love my eeeeb, theyre so fun!
Take it easy and we’ll hit some gravel miles if you’re still around Chi-town after everything thaws. ✌️
Damn Jeff, take care and be smart. Maybe get a road bike and a trainer. Get those miles indoors and just ride the MTB on occasion. Listen to your doctor's, family and your body.
Trust me I’m listening. I never imagined a cardiac event after the cycling fitness
NICE job! Might have to do that on my bike!
Use timeserts not a cheap helicoil!!! Do it right
@@themiddleagemasher8108 that’s what my shop said but there are no threads left. But they will try it. Also, this is the Ripmo V2 carbon. Wish you had a demo on the helicoil on another bike. I’ll search the internet. I’m an engineer so I usually like overkill. 🤣 even though it’s oftentimes not necessary. Either way that was killer machining! 😀🙌
@@Christmylife78 the guy that did the work for me is a engineer as well
@@themiddleagemasher8108 Brilliant minds think alike! Sent this to the owner of my bike shop and he likes it! Thanks for taking the time to put the video together! I agree this is more solid than the OEM! I have the carbon clevis on my Ripmo and upgraded to a cascade link.
@@Christmylife78 let me know how it turns out. The timesert was the perfect solution for my old Ripmo af !
