A treat for St. David's Day. A song about The Cambrian Line sea trade between Porthmadog and other Welsh ports and Ireland that has passed into Welsh tradition - but in fact written only in the early 20th C by John Glyn Davies, a scholar, songwriter and poet, who had worked for several shipping companies that sailed out of Liverpool docks. Paired with a traditional tune, The Housewife’s Welcome...

English Dance Tunes: Maiden Lane/Shepherd and Shepherdess
Excellent rendition. Thanks for sharing! Greetings from Fo'c'sle Folk Club
Love this!
My G G G Dad William Titley wrote polkas etc Might have a copy of the original sheet music somewhere. But think the Shropshire achives will have. Floreat Salopia!
Love it. (From Maurice😉). P.s Sent it to a Desmond in Cork. I think in Gaelic its Muiris or Muirgheas 😉
Dawley Magna? One of my ancestors apparently used to swim in the Shropshire rivers where the locals used to watch him. Plus my other was William Titley, pretty well known for his folk music etc. (Played 4 instruments I think maybe more).
Dawley, now part of Telford - presumably one and the same. You have an interesting 'folk' family history!
@@higgsbosun8584 My "Pughs" were from Dawley Magna before it became Telford. Yep we have produced a few good musicians. My sister is one!😍
Beautifully played. If I could just understand it!
Thanks Chaz. And we had to learn it! a link to a translation... lyricstranslate.com/en/yn-harbwr-corc-cork-harbour.html-0
