EMS Instructor Ken

Добавлен 20 июл 2020
I've been an EMS instructor for over 22 years, and an EMS Provider for over 36. When COVID stopped how we were doing in person EMT classes, I decided to record all my chapter lectures for the students. Now students can watch lectures on the chapters before class, or review them again after class. I've also linked some of my favorite videos to support the education of students.

EMT Class Chapter 37 - Emergencies for Patients with Special Challenges
I’m a new EMT instructor with not much experience teaching or as an EMT but you’re helping me to develop my teaching style so these are greatly appreciated
Thanks Deejax. Feel free to reach out to me at emsinstructorken@gmail.com. Love to share some stories and idea. I've been teaching for 22 years, and still looking for ways to get better.
These have helped me a lot, and I've shown my classmates they all like them too. Good videos!
Instructor Ken you're the man! have helped out my study habits tremendously
Thank you for making these! Literally a godsend💓
I’m a single mom in emt school with little time to read book after chapter 5 I’ve stopped reading and have been able to maintain 90 in class just by these power points and note taking My actual instructor typically flips and says we went over this or you don’t need to know this and the proceeds to tell a life story about what we are supposed to be learning 🤣 it’s great to relate life stories but this is how I’m learning basics with help from Quizlet and you tube clips form paramedic coach
Young Shirley Robinson Steven Lewis Ruth
I love you
Great video, and I loved the little humor you put in there especially about calling the fire marshal for placenta previa 😂
Thank you!
I appreciate these videos so much, it helps a lot. I noticed my test scores go up when I watch these. I read the chapter in the book, study my notes, then I study the chapter again one more time with these videos. Tests are a breeeze… superrrrr easy. Certain things said here gets stuck in my head and helps me remember.
You are the GOAT
All I can say is thank you 🙏
You're welcome. Good luck on your class.
Thank you Instructor Ken 🫡
You're welcome
i love you ken. for making these video's
Thank you so much for posting these! Im from colorado studying in california so this makes me feel at home:)
You're welcome. Let me know how you do in class.
Thank you for this, this has helped me out a lot, Last semester I wasn't even able to pass my first section of my EMS class and this semester I'm about a month away from the cumulative final exam and just a few short weeks away from the final exam for the last section of the course
Thank you from IL! U helped me pass my midterms ken!
Great to hear! Keep up the good work
I want to thank you again for your videos! I am about 1.5 months away from finishing my EMT class and these videos are a life-saver!
Thank you 🙏 saved so much time from your lectures
You're welcome. Good luck on your class. Let me know how you do.
Anyone know what he means when says for long description, see slide 70: Appendix 1
That's a great question. I don't have a clue what I meant. Those are the slide from the publisher. If you want a really good explanation of sepsis, check out American Ambulance's Pod Cast on the topic. very detailed but easy to follow.
@@EMSInstructorKen thank you appreciate your response
Thank you for all you do
i love you ken. lol
Thank. Good luck in class.
@EMSInstructorKen thank you! my emt midterm is next week and if we don't score 80% we're done 😭
I can't describe how much your videos have helped me with my EMT program so far! Thank you!
Glad they help. Let me know how you do with class.
Thanks, Timi. Good luck with the class. Let me know how you do.
Hi Ken ! I love your videos, but I just wanted to chime in and correct the information Ryan White CARE ACT. The Ryan White CARE Act is actually based on 13 year old, Ryan White. Who was given a HIV tainted bag of blood, during a blood perfusion. Ryan’s story isn’t crucial to EMS or the NREMT but, Ryan went through so much because of of this accident, and we as providers are able to protect ourselves from potential threats because of his hardships. I just want to show some love to the child ❤.
Thanks for the education. I'll redo that part of the video with my new knowledge. The EMS part is: The Ryan White CARE Act mandates that EMS personnel can find out whether they were exposed to life-threatening diseases while providing care. (This notification provision was included in the original 1990 act, dropped in the 2006 reauthorization, and reinstated in the 2008 reauthorization). I find it interesting that it was dropped in 2006. Need to do some more research.
thank you ems instructor ken
👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥 thanks for this really

I listen to this while working out and on my way to school. It’s really helpful to re-hear all the notes. Thank you
Glad you enjoy it!
I have been following all of your lectures to rewatch before my EMT tests every week. Just passed all my practicals and only have my final exam left. Thank you for doing this, it has helped me so much through this summer......also love the new intro music at beginning of video!!!!

@@EMSInstructorKen thank you
Hi, sorry for bothering. If I purchase the online version of Emergency Care will I have access to the powerpoints:
Great question. The publisher are in it to make money so I'm betting no. They are available to the instructors with a special code.
for the npa make sure you don’t just turn it around for the left nostril, u have to recut the angle at the end
First...always follow your local protocals, guidelines, or whatever you call them where you are. I haven't heard of trimming the bevel of the flexible NPA. I've always just turned it 180 and let it slide in. Can you share your reference with me. Always willing to hear new ideas.
@@EMSInstructorKen trinity pride star says that anyone with a deviated right septum of any sort or any trauma to the right nostril or blockage etc. the emt will recut npa to angle towards the septum in the left nostril. and never insert the npa upside down (if it angles up) make sure the npa has the proper angle to slide in and down rather than in and up.
Hey, Ken ! I just really wanted to let you know that I highly appreciate you taking time out if your busy life to record and post these videos ! I’ve been watching them since the beginning of my EMS training course, and I’m now getting ready to take the NREMT. Thanks to you I’m walking into my exam feeling confident.
Thanks for the compliments. Good luck on your exam.
Thanks so much for your videos
You're welcome. Good luck.
Thanks for your videos 😊

You're very welcome. Did them for class during COVID-19. Glad they still help.
You are literally the greatest of all time for uploading these. I learn more from these than reading the book.
