A short drive on my dad's recently restored 1933 DKW Block 200 with Dyno-start. Still working on the jetting, this was the second run since restoration. The camera was mounted on the front fender.

Short clip of my VF750F which broke down on the german autobahn. When it got deliverd at my home, I started it, to make this movie and ask some experts what it could be. I will be disassembling the bike the next few week.

Welchen Zündzeitpunkt Fahrt ihr ?
haha je woont in Enschede wat grappig ik woon in Hengelo en ik ga volgende week deze motor kopen! misschien nog tips?
Voor tips en tricks zou ik kijken/vragen in het VF topic op motor-forum. Er zijn nogal wat problemen met deze motoren, dus ik zou me wel even inlezen.
Thinking of buying one if it isn't too expensive. Better for my neck (driving a thunderace 1000 plus a bit cc's daily). They look gorgeous somehow.
Wait until someone has to sell.. Not when you have to buy. I'm picking up an '85 with 27,000 KM on it for $900.00 CDN. It needs a back tire, and doesn't run great until it's warm. Nothing I can't deal with. Ethanol in gas is horrid for carburetor engines.
Cozy, warm, friendly, beautiful and characteristic, picturesque houses and suddenly: fuck ugly "modernistic" buildings... must be the Netherlands.

Ahhhh! It's the dead of winter and I'm sitting here watching videos of people riding my bike. Haha. I can't wait to get out there this spring! You gotta cancel your turn signals earlier. ;)
As you might know, a 4 stroke engine completes 720 degrees(eg. 2 complete rotations of the crankshaft) to do 4 strokes(suck, squeez, bang blow). A 360 degree crankshaft has the crank pins in line, eg. 360 degrees apart from each other. With a 180 degree crankshaft (as with VFR's) have the crank pins spaced at 180 degrees from each other, so when 1 piston is at top dead center, the other is at bottom dead center. It helps to search for pictures of the crankshafts, to see the difference ;)
I know that it's a long time since you posted the comment... But could you please enlighten me to what a 360 degree crank is?
It took him 1,5 year I believe :) It was a wreck at first..

those valves must've been screaming if they loosened up that much
very nice sound! i´m also owned a 1931 modell last year. how long did you need to make it run?
@BallsonPHACE 360 degree crank and open exhaust, most likely. Made to sound like a RC30 is my guess. Well, not quite there but close enough. Just missing the whine from the gear driven cams.

Geez, it didn't sound like such a big problem in the vid. It's great that you had a spare engine. Keeping the old one for parts would be good hey. The V4 engines are relatively rare, so parts might be hard to come by one day. VF's have the nicest sounding engine of any bike in my opinion, especially when their at full revs. A V4 with slightly warm cams and enlarged ports makes an evil howl. Nothing like it. I've got an FJ1200 now, which is great, but I still miss my VF750.
@ScottPWhitehead Turned out I didn't tightened a valve adjustment nut to the correct amount of torque. It came loose and the a valve broke off. There's a hole in the piston of 2 x 3 cm's. :( At the moment, I replaced the engine with a different one. Replaced the head gaskets and checked all camshafts and rockers, replaced them if necessary . Already driven 1500 km on it :) I'll try to make a vid of the current situation someday soon.
So what ended up wrong with it? Sounds like fuel starvation. Mine did that once and I found it was the fuel like to the tank was bent so much that it was not letting much fuel through to the carbs.
