    This was so good. It didn’t allow pointing fingers and it didn’t allow victimizing but it allowed everyone to take accountability and become aware of who’s they all contribute to the family function. Peacefully ! And added hope!

    Is this a Bowenian structured approach? It sounds like its heavily influenced.

      No. It's an integration of family systems theory, solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, with a small dose of structural family therapy.

      Lol, that my friend is the magic of ecosystems social work. While it is not as expansive in scope as a structural approach that seeks macro level change, it does at least look at one's direct environment and attempt to create alternative narratives within the group, as opposed to merely pathologizing a single individual.

    Good video on the strengths-based family the family really knows each other and knows where to pull their strengths from. I also like how the therapist is neutral and does not show sides and helps all family members. The miracle question is so important to ask in this session because they can imagine the perfect scenario and how things can be changed positively. I also like how they proposed their own solutions to the problems they have going on.

  • @ashliebrooks3766

    I love how asking "the miracle question" helped the family realize their own roles toward the feelings of hopelessness that had taken over their family. Understanding how they contribute to this problem helped them identify changes they can make in their daily routine that will help the family function better.

    I just found this film. I teach interviewing/ assessment for counselors and have started to use in class very successfully. Created a series of questions for students to think about while they observe, then small group discussion, and then whole class discussion. A success, very much appreciated.

    • @solution-focusedstrengths-4599
      @solution-focusedstrengths-4599 8 лет назад

      Thanks for your comment and question, Ben. Glen is a professional counselor. This was a roleplay which was unrehearsed. I had no idea who Glen would be roleplaying and what the roleplay scenario was going to be. I wanted it to be as real-life as possible where as a therapist one does not know the client or the presenting problem initially. At the time we made this around 1996 or 1997 there were no existing videos on using solution-focused therapy for crisis intervention.
