This was so lovely and relaxed. Yet honest and reflective. My current focus is on getting better at fur and feathers as I paint animals. As well as getting my backgrounds right…with acrylics blending can be challenging at times.

I couldn’t agree more! 🌸💙 I just was listening to another artist today here on RUclips who stated he doesn’t believe in it. And I just put down this particular mindset as an idea for a video and there you are 😊 with a video on it. I believe it says more about the person who says ‘you’re talented’ and their limited believes about themselves as well as a complete misunderstanding about artists.

I understand difficult pieces and struggles 🫤. I’m currently working on the nose and mouth of a chihuahua and it’s at the ugly stage 😖 and I had to leave it there because I have other responsibilities to attend to, but man…I so want to get back and hopefully finish it and I’m so not happy or impressed with it at the moment. But I need to learn to find peace in that and trust the process 😊💙.

It was fascinating to watch, the painting was changing and morphing in a most unpredictable way! It was a bit like a novel, which comes to an end and you say "what a twist in the plot, I totally didn't see it coming!" It feels a bit different to your other paintings (to my eye), but I cannot tell, what it is that's different. Still, awesome work, as always 👍 And that sweet cuppa of something was really endearing, if you permit me to say so. 😊 I wonder, do you feel like a rock climber, conquering the heights of Mont blanc, or is your process of painting could be compared with meandering river, that knows where it flows and so there's no hurry to get there, and there's all the time in the world, if you need it? That painting of trees you showed as a reference is amazing! I love those textures - and then you talked about messing up your value structure and I felt that to my core haha (even if it didn't look like that to me at all!) That balance of intuition and being more thoughtful is so difficult. The way you added details and structure with a flat brush towards the end was incredibly fascinating to watch. <3

This was just what I needed! I’ve watched several process videos and I’ve realized everyone has different tweaks. But I learn from them all. This was very well done. I loved hearing about freezing paint, and some of the more “boring” stuff that alas, has to be considered. Also seeing the layers applied and it all comes in focus was fun. You make it look easy. 🎨!

Another way to save your "gray mix" at the end of a session is to use condiment cups, the little clear cups you get sauces in when you get takeout/take away. I scrape the gray mix off my palette into the cup, try to level it out in the cup, and then fill the rest of the cup with water. Yes WATER. 1. we know that paint needs air to dry and the water displaces the air within the cup. 2. we also know that water and oil don't mix, so the water has zero affect on the paint. I have stored paint like this, unrefrigerated for over a month and had no issues when I used the paint.

One of my most favourite videos from you, easily.👍 Thanks for the tip about shadows, never thought before about the relief on where the shadow is falling, it was always more about the shape of the object casting the shadow , just this bit is enough to watch the whole video, but there were lots of things I learned besides that one. Yeah, and , by the way, you have the cutest giggle ever! 😊 P.S. : I remember the Adventure Of the Free Easel, glad to see it's earning it's keep! 👍 Did I say, that you did a gorgeous painting? You are a hero. That's long and short of it. Being sick, still working on a painting and a painting is so beautiful! 👍 When you said " allow me experiment", I thought, what we would see will be just splashes of colours, ( not that it's a bad thing, on the contrary, there's nothing better than this, especially if one is grumpy), but I didn't expect a wonderful, wonderful painting of a sunny day ! (😢 16C here, rain and wind, and it's been pretty much like that for the whole summer, if I still can use that word for the type of the season we are having) Great work, even genius, under the circumstances 👍 Wishing you to get well very very soon! Greens! Please do a focus on greens! Didn’t realize it was such a struggle until I did oils again. Sorry you are sickish. My husband and I use Povidone Iodine as a nasal cleanse. Look it up! It immediately knocks out the beginnings of a respiratory illness (cold, flu, etc.) Also good as a preventative if you are around people. Sorry I’m going into Mom mode but I hate illness. Take care!

I was interested to read you sought advice from another artist and she pointed you in the right direction -- I'm interested to hear more about those kinds of relationships, how you met, are they a mentor, how the conversation goes (do you say what you're having trouble with?) Sometimes I talk to my Mum in this way because she did art in her younger days.
