Color Grading like horror movies in Lightroom / Spooky Purple Hue / Color Palette Presets
Learn how to color grade this style in Lightroom using tone curve and color grading tool. Backstory: this low-key color palette is inspired by Dylan Furst's photos. I recently discovered his Instagram. I’m fascinated by his mysterious, moody, and atmospheric style.
In this video, I’ll showcase 2 versions: one that stays true to the reference and another that incorporates my own twist.

Awesome tutorial Osk, amazing credit and grading
Thanks heaps Bruce! It means a lot
hi thank you for the tutorial, could you maybe share the DNG file?
Sure! What is your email address?
Awesome job on explanations 👍 Love the photos, thx for sharing your insights and knowledge
Happy you say that. Thanks!
I really love your video. Very great production value. You've really captured my attention and I'm thinking lots more about what I might do differently in rainy weather. Thank you!
That's really nice to hear. I’m glad you enjoyed it and found it useful!
Great stuff. Just found your channel. Keep it up! 👍
Thank you for commenting. I appreciate the kind words and support!
I need preset 😢
I need preset 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Another good video - thank you
You're welcome!
great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Excellent ❤❤
Thank you 🙌
I love it
Thank you!
I'm assuming you edited the RAW photos?
Correct! With RAW, you can adjust the color, exposure, and other settings without losing quality since the color profile is not embedded.
@@travelbugraphy well what I'm saying is that if you edited both the RAW and JPG it would give more of a real comparison, great photos tho!
@@travelbugraphyyou can touch up jpegs, you don’t have as much leeway to edit as a raw but it’s more than possible
Nice video! Any tutorial getting the summer/pastell feeling?
Thanks for the feedback! If you are looking for that bright blue sky look, check out this video: ruclips.net/video/VC-MK1JJLCM/видео.html
Over the decades, I have used 21, 24, 28, 35, 40, 45, 50, and 55mm focal lengths on full-frame cameras in one-lens/one body street shooting situations. All worked well. However, the 35mm f/2 or 35mm f/1.4 is my personal favorite.
Your videos are excellent.
Thank you for the positive feedback! Glad you like them

Amazing, can you please save and share this preset with us? Amazing job!
Glad you enjoyed this one! Free preset is available on my Lightroom community page
I think I have one of these in storage. Its not in the current rotation because I have... 4 other Yashica TLR's. Do I have a problem? Yo I have subbed because we are fellow Yashica bros! Cannot wait to see more of your pics. Trying to immerse my feed in fellow film people. I just posted a new vid featuring my yashica and the photos I've taken with it of my rescue dog. Check it out if you get a chance. Peace!
Appreciate it mate! Keep up the good work
I am following your video to colour grade my next video, which also includes lots of Hong Kong scenes! Thank you!
That's really nice to hear! I’m glad my content was able to help out
I was confused of how to determine a color pallet to work along with. You just showed me how easily it is by just choosing a poster of a movie with desired color spectrum. The little tweaks in the curves to avoid pure black and how contemporary the sides on the graph impact on the image and histogram, became second nature once I watched this gold nugged. Thank again and sorry for spaming you comment sections, it is just so darn useful what you give away here.
Thank you for being so thoughtful and for sharing your views. I’m glad my content was able to help out :) It means a lot to hear that. Have the most beautiful day!
That was a hell of an edit. Thank you!
I’m glad you enjoyed it and found it useful. Best to you!
Your Pawn Shop Picture shows me how the numbers of people in the frame can change the story of the framing and thus the feelings it evokes. Thank you again. I started to struggle what to shoot in my area.
I think you made a good point. I love hearing from my audience to understand what they’re looking for. Truly grateful for your comments. More videos are on the way!
Your page is like finding money on the street. Thank you for the color grading videos and all the other ones!
Thank you so much for your positive feedback, you put a big smile on my face!
you are great thank you ! I love Lr, better then LrC ! I use classic only for focus stacking bc then you can select all the images and go directly to PS while on Lr you can't. Cool grade BTW :)
I agree with you. LrC is more functional but sometimes I switch to Lr for simplicity. I appreciate your kind words and support!
Very helpful. Subscribed😀
So nice to hear! Much appreciated 🙏
Dude. You are making the best tutorials
I appreciate that!

Thank you so much! Really appreciate the support
which version of this lightroom?
I used Lightroom CC desktop for this demonstration, but any version will work. The steps are applicable for mobile, web, and classic.
와우 지난번 영상도 좋았는데 이 영상도 정말 감사합니다!!!!! 쉽게 잘 설명해주시는 것 같아서 최고에요! 🎉
당신의 지원에 정말 감사드립니다 🙏🏻
Hi new to your channel and really like your content! Was wondering if you could share exporting to instagram settings? I love how your photo's don't seem to have any loss from the instagram compression. I'm never sure on the resolution. I've tried what instagram suggests but i always find it looks not right. Also should i be adding sharping to photo for instagram if i like the dreamy look? Thanks so much for your help 🙏🏻💯✨
Hi Ryan! I'm glad you're enjoying the content, and thanks for the question. When exporting from Lightroom, I usually use "resize to fit 5.0 megapixels" with a resolution of 150 pixels per inch. The "sharpen for screen" option is turned on. I find that this helps maintain the quality and minimize the impact of Instagram's compression. As for the dreamy look, you might consider using the dehaze or clarity slider to add blurriness, for example, -10. Experiment with it and see what works best for your photos. Hope this helps! 🙌

That was a strange video, by the standards of YT photograpy vids, and i enjoyed it very much. Good length, good format, good pace. I'm on board and looking forward to more. All the best from New Zealand.
I highly appreciate your support! It gives me an extra boost of motivation as I work on the new video.
Cool tutorial. thank you
Glad you liked it!
i like when you said "i dont know" because it sound more real
i find your teaching is very interesting. i love it.. sad is.. not much ppl subsribed to you. i just want you to know.. your work is appreciated
So glad to know you love it! Hopefully, more people will come across my work in the future. Thank you for subscribing!

Thank you
When I use the target tool for the colour mixer it selects the entire image rather than the mask?
That's odd. It should only select a specific color unless the colors are similar. In the new desktop version, you can also use the eyedropper tool to pick the color more precisely. You can also take a look at this edit that I shared in the Lightroom Community. I hope it helps. lightroom.app.link/1b2Fs95rTHb
